I like the conversations between Kurama and Kuwabara, he's the only one who doesn't completely treats him like an idiot even though he's the smartest in the group by a large margin.
Yeah, I didn't really ever get why Kuwabara is treated like an idiot. Sure, he's hotheaded, but in fights pretty much only Kurama thinks more than him.
@@Roshea YES, my God, and Puu just made it better lmfao To be fair, if Hiei just explained himself to his friends, they wouldn't be able to make fun of him like that - but he's emotionally constipated and he made a promise so _instead we get this gold lol_
Like when Yusuke yelled "This is for my friends you jerk!" at Suzaku and "You told me to commit to something all the way and I chose my friends!" to Genkai lol
@@Shiro642 To quote Peter Griffin "You think that's bad?" *YUGI-OH* takes the cake with corny friendship speeches, especially Tea being the top offender!
I like how this scene shows that even though Yusuke is the friend they all have in common they are comfortable hanging out together even when he's not around. Like, they could've had Keiko default to asking Kuwabara about Yusuke since they both know him the best as a schoolmate, but she asks Kurama instead because she considers him just as much of a friend.
What the original point meant is Kieko knows Kurama is just as much of a friend to Yusuke like Kuwabara is Kurama still appreciates Yusuke’s sacrifice and help they he did for the former’s mother, which is why Kurama chose to fight alongside him and wouldn’t dare betray him to Yomi
Yeah, and Kurama and Kuwabara even seemingly become best friends in the end. Thinking about when the two of them are hanging out, and the girls mistake Kurama for a girl XD
@@rainbowdragon1872 idk if that was a thing, and Togashi took some inspirations, but Kurama reminds me a lot of Toki from HNK. He is like the most polite, kind, goodhearted and empathetic person in the show, and yet when he uses his Hokuto Shinken.. his kills are more sadistic, gruesome and brutal than Raoh's and Suther's combined XD
CatHoodieGirl 411 I'm assuming you've watched the series. Otherwise this is a spoiler (albeit a mild spoiler that doesn't really matter that much). So you've been warned: Kazuma ends up fighting an "old man" demon that turns out to be a clown.
omg! This was absolutely hilarious! Kuwabarra's sister telling him it's ok to drink beer should he not live to see the next sunset and hiei threating to tear out Kurama's voice box! Omg! Lol!
Personally I always had preferred hiei to Kurama only because I just think there are far too many times when Kurama is just too nice to his opponent in a fight. For example the fight against gamma and then Touya could very easily have gotten Kurama killed. If Kurama had been a little less interested in mind games and a little more interested in surviving the round, he probably wouldn't have been put in the situation which forced him to plant the seeds of the death plant into his own body. I think had he not been so interested in playing with gamma's head, he would have ended both matches not only faster than he did, but also with fewer injuries and definitely not having the death plant growing out of his body. I think he also likely could have taken bakkun out of the game also had he not been so reckless.
Not only is it funny, but more importantly it is exceedingly natural. Not one line feels forced, and you feel the energy naturally flow around the room. Imagine this scene with real actors, and you'll see what I mean. Aside from obvious changes in visuals, nothing would stand out as unnatural. Nobody is doing ninja flips or anything rediculous, after all. Not to say that it should be live action, obviously, just pointing out how natural it feels in different aspects. This series is like a warm blanket on a cold winter night. It's so comfy, and the natural feel of dialogue makes the fight scenes feel more grounded, too. Makes you care about the outcomes of clashes. I hope as many kids as possible either read or watch YuYu Hakusho. It gets better with age as you accumulate wisdom and connect more with the more mature characters, and it becomes even more rewarding watching Yusuke grow as a person and learn to take on responsibilities in life. Such a great series.
That's Togashi for you. When someone asks me what I like about YYH (or HxH), it's the naturalness of their dialogue and action. Everything flows smoothly like a water. Many anime usually have a problem during the transition between one arc to another arc. Most of the time it ends up with a cringe conversation between the characters. But that's not the case with YYH and HxH.
Its not surprising to see Nintendo on Kuwabara's card. Before Nintendo went big with the Nintendo Home Entertainment System they were a company that made cards and other things.
@@pufflord4230 It's short for an anime of it's caliber. Now that I think about it, 112 episodes and it developed all of it's main characters and villains extremely well, along with having 4 amazing arcs. That's actually very impressive given and hard to do even in 112 episodes.
This scene was pretty cool before the girls showed up. Kurama and Kuwabara just chilling, playing cards and talking about the tournament with Hiei in the corner, watching the rain and listening in on their conversation. Just some bros quietly hanging out, the girls added a more fun dynamic when they entered the room, but I like the idea of the boys just chilling. Hiei plays a very important role because he's that 3rd guy who doesn't say anything but it would be awkward with just 2 so him being there makes the room a little more alive even though he's doing nothing, an underrated role in the friend group.
Given that Hiei is supposedly under 100 years old and Kurama is several hundred years old… I doubt it. Kurama (as Yoko) is so powerful that Hiei shows him respect with a tinge of fear.
Scenes like this is the reason I always saw YYH as drama. It’s shonen, action, drama. Moments like this where they are shown doing the most human things, and in each other’s company too, are such a treat. I especially loved Kazu bailing on Yusuke to watch a Megallica concert with his other crew in the Black Chapter Saga, bc it’s so relatable and it humanized him in my eyes. And Yusuke grudgingly empathizing when Kazu asks him what would he do if he were in his shoes (his fav wrestler or sth coming to Japan) and Yusuke was like fuck he got me there lol! And then there was Yusuke hanging out with a grounded Koenma in a cafe having a D&M with him. And finally him going over to Keiko’s and proposing to her in front of her father. As a kid, I didn’t pay attention much to these scenes but now rewatching this anime in my 30s, these are the scenes I actually look forward to seeing more.
I remember as a kid Kuwabara's sudden switch from Botan to Yukina actually made me question if his flirting with Botan ever even happened after a while XD Such a shame the guy who is getting her jealous genuinely no longer has interest in her cause Botan is the best.
I know Hiei is the type to know of games as much as he knows of hugs and puppies and care for them even less. But I mean he really needed to lighten up. But that is his character, the brooding loner that never lets down his guard and is always as serious as a heart attack. I think the audience would have had a partial complex seizure if the Animators and story writers opted to have Hiei, out of the clear blue suddenly decide to play a game with all of them just this one time. Only for him to return to being the easily annoyed loner who is never more than a pencil drop away from killing someone. Would have made for a good Social Experiment to see how the audience and fans would have reacted to Hiei's one time change of heart on the cusp of a huge battle the next day.
Literally just hearing these characters have a conversation honestly is enjoyable enough for me, that's how good this English dub is. Makes every character feel real
A long time since this video came out, but did you notice at 1:25 ? Under the ace of spades, towards Kuwabara's right hand, it says Nintendo Made in Japan. It's a very interesting little easter egg from Studio Pierrot in 1992, because Nintendo was (before making video games), a producer of card games. It's a very cool easter egg, especially since I just noticed it now.
My first introduction to Yu Yu Hakusho was with a Nintendo Game Boy, my uncle bought me one from Japan, i had the game and i loved it even if it was in japan and didn't understood anything about it, it was Sensui's arc, later i saw the anime on A+
I love how they were using Nintendo Playing Cards... reminds you that the author used his own history.... and Yu Yu Hakusho seemed to take place in the 80's or 70's.... kinda cool...
Botan is the best girl in that anime. Her hair, her eyes, her outgoing carefree personality, her quirky attitude. Keiko’s second to me. Botan’s always stuck me more than Keiko. How Kuwabara fell for Yukina and not for Botan is amazing. 😻😻😻😻😻Botan, all the way.
