This is actually especially hilarious when you take Hiei's ego into account. The fact Kuwabara of all people can beat him at anything probably drives him completely nuts.

What's funny to me is round one of the tournament, Chu was the alternate for the same reason, and yet they make this concept of selecting fighters seem like a 1st time thing lol.
I find it funny and actually somewhat touching. Hiei actually cares enough about what Kuwabara says about his childhood to be genuinely offended 😂. Before he would have just brushed it off or insult him back. It's a subtle hint of their growing relationship

Apparently it's the same for you guys as it's here for us here in Brazil. YYH was one of the best dubbed animes we had back in the day, so much better than with subtitles. Now watching this in English I notice a lot of subtle differences between the versions and how it was dubbed to make it feel more natural to each language.
Even the creator said the English dub was better than the Japanese. Really puts a damper on those who bash dubs. I myself can watch most series either way, except this I've tried subbed over and over and it just doesn't work.

Well he was the only human fighter in a stadium full of demons. Yusuke and Genkai are going through his final trial in a cave, and the girls are looking for the stadium. The only other humans there were, maybe, the crime lords watching in the VIP room. But I love the line even if I'm looking into it too much :)
Weeelll, technically it is the side of the palm you are seeing but it is hard to deny that it is indeed a extra digit due to the angle the hand is drawn in. XDD
After re-watching the series I realized that Kuwabara cheated. I think it was around episode 9 when Genki commented on how Kuwabara kept beating Yusuke in a guessing game using his spiritual awareness.
Later after this game: Yusuke arrives and sees Hiei has chopped off his index and middle fingers. Yusuke: Uh... Hiei, what the hell is going on with your fingers? Hiei: .....They failed me.
Close your eyes while listening to 02:49 lol....but anyway,while watching this, I came to a conclusion that Hiei and Toph from Avatar the Last Airbender would make a cool couple. They both are tough and have crazy spunk. I ship them. :)
I always chalk this up to amazing foreshadowing on Togashi's part because one of the games Kuwabara excelled at, and to which Genkai herself commented, was the janken station after challenging Yusuke to the punching machine. XD
I love Hiei and Kurama's response to Shishi *sp saying "How about you with the inferior face?" Their body language is so loud in this clip its hilarious xD
I made a joke reference about this scene to my nephew when I was watching Hunter x Hunter with him and they brought up janken. I said, "Togashi is obsessed with janken!" Then... Then it kept coming up.. And then the main character's main ability is literally just based off janken. Fucking lost it.

God I remember hating Shishiwakamaru before, until he got better...I little bit later on during the Three Kings Saga. lol. Anywho, loved this Janken part. Poor Hiei. lol
