Z Flip 5 vs RAZR+ // The New Flip Phone King!

Flip 5, in my opinion, looks way better. Flip 5's design feels very solid, unlike the motorola's screen that feels loose and cracks. Also, you got the water resistance, which the Motorola doesn't.

I bought my Razr in June. No problems with it at all. The battery has been way better than on my Flip 3. Its a great phone.

I also wanted something different and bought the new Sony Xperia I V and traded in my S23U for the flip 5. No regrets. Have two very different experiences. I didn't buy the Motorola because it had last years processor. That was a deal breaker for me.

I currently have a iPhone 14 pro but always loved the razors so my question to you is if I purchase a unlocked razor and pick up a sim from my carrier how would I be able to use it. Could I use my same number ? Any help thanks

I got a $500 trade in for my Razr 5g at T-Mobile, and am very happy with the Razr +. I went with the 5g Razr in 2021 to get away from Samsung and have no interest in going back. The user experience that Motorola offers is better than anything that Samsung ever offered. All day battery life and the outside display is very useful for everyday applications.

What storage did you get on the flip ? I pre ordered on the 4th and I still haven't gotten mine 😢 I'm in Houston decided to do Samsung store pick up and got tg short end of stick

Does the Flip 5 get hot? My Razr plus, while just sitting in my pocket, was nearly 50⁰C after being in there for maybe 15 minutes.

I got the RAZR+. Motorola always makes really good phones! But this time it's just at the top 🥰

I have the glacier blue, it looks so aesthetic. Everyone in my gym was looking at it lol. The crease is almost invisible. The best display I've ever used and overall, It's so fun to use. I also played around with the Z Flip 5 but it's too narrow for my gaming needs. There was no improvement from z4 with the crease as well. My only gripe with Moto is the camera, my iphone 12 pro still takes better shots.

I have the flip 5 and noticed last night that the PHONE and CONTACT widget were gone from my cover screen. I went into the good lock app and saw it wasn't there either. So i tried restarting the phone, wiping cahe partition, repaired apps, uninstalled/reinstalled good lock but still no apps. I sent an error report so hopefully it's just a bug and an update will fix everything. Curious if anybody else happen to them yet.

Totally agree i bought the razr and totally happy with it screen on the front battery and got free bose headphones and screen replacement for a year with Motorola

Both are great, i prefer Zflip5 for my preferences and my samsung ecosystem of stuff. If people prefer Moto more power to them. I encourage competition, pushes innovation.

I love my Razr. Traded in my Pixel 7 Pro and while yes, it's a step down camera wise. .the fun the Razr brings really makes it a great trade off. ATT did everything he could to get me to buy the Flip 5. No regrets, the Razr is the best flip out there. The cover screen and more importantly Motorola's great software additions make it the phone to beat

It's so odd that a company like Motorola who typically fails on its software side on normal phones (my experience update wise) does so well on foldable!

Was thinking of getting Razr+ however I was concerned of some reviews of the in call volume of not being able to hear clearly in a room of full of people. or maybe being a bit noisy in the room. And the screen durability. Can anyone help on those

Motorola loses on durability and trade in deals alone. End of story. Jerry Rig Everything shows how fragile the Razr is. Motorola not wanting to give much of anything for a trade in, keeps me from even considering them.....

hi dude i try flip 5 for 9 daies trying to use front screen but then i just pissed off and i used always open...always closed i become nervous...so i return to Samsung this flip is not for me...

If you want a phone that is built with lower quality and way less support listen to this guy and get a moto razor if you want something elegant built great and with great support get the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Iv been a ride or die Samsung person for over 12 years but just bought the Razr... I'm a convert, this phone is absolutely amazing. I was going to go for the zflip but after using them both in store, Motorola won me over completely. And im super glad Motorola are back with a vengeance!!!

Motorola RAZR+ because the Ready For. Motorola are doing cool things and I am here for it. The only downside is that there are not many accessories for the RAZR+.

I got my Razr Plus when it first came out and I love it

I prefer the Razr+, I have my Razr 5G and I love it. Just wished that still had the chin.

Samsung basically became Apple of Android world. No innovations, pretty much the same devices year after year, removing everything possible (charger in the box, memory card slot, headphone jack, Flip doesn't even have DeX...). But there is one major difference compared to Apple - software on Samsung phones (especially camera software) needs a LOT of polishing. They either don't care about that or/and can't accomplish it because of this crazy 3-flagships-a-year tempo. I guess they hope users will buy new device every year, chasing things that should already be fixed on previous one. But, judging by number of S23 series devices sold (I think it will be the same with Fold.Flip), users just won't do that...

Bought the Razr Ultra 40 and was about to use it as my daily but ultimately sold it and bought the Flip 5. Main reason being that the fingerprint sensor of the Razr is not supported by my main banking app. So I have to sign in using password and can only view everything. If I do any kind of transaction the app requires some sort of biometric security confirmation of which the Razr 40 is not supported. No such problems with the Flip 5. Also a very annoying thing, for me, about the Razr is the way it handles folders in the app drawer. There's a lot of things, mainly hardware related, that I liked about the Razr 40 over the Flip 5 but unfortunately that one incompatability meant it was unsuitable for me. One big plus that the Flip 5 has over the Razr 40 that you would only know if you handled both devices is that the Flip 5 feels way more sturdy and solid over the Razr 40 which feels way more fragile.

I got my Flip 5 on August 7th and I love it! I actually wanted the Razr+ but I was able to get a much better deal for the Flip 5 so that's what I got. The only way the Razr+ is better is the external display functionality, and that's marginal. I installed Good Lock so even that isn't a factor anymore. The Flip 5 is better in every other area and will get software updates for five years. The Flip 5 also feels to be more solid after holding both as I did. Battery life seems decent so far. It's not as good as my S23, but I still get through the day without a problem. I couldn't care less about DeX. I've never used it and probably never will. If for some reason I do need to use DeX, I still have my S23 to use for that. Also, ANY phone at the price point of these two should have water resistance as a standard feature. The Flip 5 does. The Razr+ does not.

I've noticed that the hinge on my samsung flip 5 is not as sturdy as the flip 4, it like feels a little more looser.

The terrible software support from Motorola is what has kept me from never buying their phones again. They push security patches every quarter and good luck with getting major os upgrades timely. I would hate to see how long it takes them to fix bugs. The last Motorola device I have had was the one with Moto Mods. They were cool but expensive.

You can go into settings then system then performance and boost to 10 GB of Ram. For Motorola RAZR plus.

Had both. Sold the razr within 4 days of using because even moto can't save stock android, it's so boring. Plus the cameras kept cutting off content on the cover screen. I was also halfway through July rocking the May security patch on the motorola. The worst thing was there was no double tap to lock option on the coverscreen so when you were done you had to manually press the powerbutton (sounds small but it isn't when you press the power button 100 times a day because doube tap to lock on the coverscreen was absent). I will say moto has ready for which gives them the edge as for as productivity (still no idea why the flip 5 can't even at least get wireless dex). Been using the flip 5 for a week and besides that battery which could be better on all flip phones (flip 4, flip 5 and razr+), I'm ready to replace my s23 ultra with this flip 5. It's so much better than the flip 4 as I don't actually have to open it to use it. I can really use the cover screen for 95% of things which also helps mitigate it having such a bad battery when using the internal screen (can expect about 20-25% less battery results when using the flip 5 internal screen only compared to the s23 ultra). With mixed internal and cover screen use I can get similar battery to what I had on the 23 ultra. And it's so much lighter and feels less bulky then the 23 ultra too which is the main reason for selling. Both the razr+ and flip 5 are conversation starters (especially around iphone users), but the flip 5 definitely has the better build and way more case options. The flip 5 was also cheaper. i spent $50 total on this phone when upgrading from a flip 4. Moto not offering anything close to that no matter what you trade in. I do like the way moto's cover screen looked more, but in actual use the cameras cutoff so much content i ended up having to minimize the view which made apps even smaller than what they appear on the flip 5. The hinge also felt looser on the moto. I'm glad I sold it and got the flip 5, I'm loving it.

Do you like the camera better on the Samsung or on the razr + . I just like the concept that's Samsung is waterproof.razr + Doesn't have that Waterproof option.

Z flip 5 is the best choice here, it has the best hinge out of the two ( Motorola is noisy), user interface is better on Zflip, also no AOD on Motorola. no one cares about a front cover screen that small refreshing at 120 hertz. ZFLIP is the way to go. until next time

But, the guy that did the testing on both of them on a channel here on RU-vid proved that the Z Flip 5 is built better and last longer. I had the Razr Plus and a little sliver of shaving from work ruined the screen. I now have the regular Razr 2023 but I have the Z Flip 5 on the way.

I think the sweet spot for front screen size will be somewhere under or right at 4 inches which used to be considered a "big screen", ten years ago........a 4 inch front screen would be decently useable

The Razr obviously has the better outer display, creasless screen, and the non-polarized screen when wearing sunglasses. Samung has the better build quality, software support, and the newer processor. With that said, I got z flip 5, so it's new for me, and I prefer it over the base s22. They're both great innovations, and I'd like to see the long-term durable on both.

I just got my razr early this month cause I wanted a flip phone. I will say I am so happy with it. It's fun. The front screen is amazing. The inside screen is clear and crisp. The crease is hardly visible which is one thing I was worried about so that's great. I can't wait to see when they upgrade to Android 14 what will be new. Hoping they add new things u can do with the front screen with updates. I just don't like it takes Motorola forever to update to the new android versions. Wish they released them faster or had a beta program.

I think you forgot the hinge is bad on the Razr, it also bad in sand and dust test so not sure how it better then flip beat it that which should make it a better over all you just said. I rather jhave Flip over a razr if will last me longer in the long run.

Both very similar but the Flip 5 has a slightly better camera, updated snapdragon , and overall better build quality.

The camera on the Razr is ok sometimes and dreadful other times - No always on display - Camera cut outs get in the way on the cover screen - Liked the Razr but the Samsung is just more polished and feels like it won't break in three months -

You forgot a big point. Software updates and endurance tests both are points to the Z Flip 5. You wont notice the best user experience when the hinch is broken

Will the flip phones ever get a bigger and better battery? It kind of seems like one doesn't get what they pay for with these phones.

I have both and will probably return both. Having software issues with Razr as it shuts off randomly and gets hot. Cover screen is better but the camera cutout gets in the way too much. Also, phone itself doesn’t seem durable, even if you take care of it. When you unfolded, hinge is hard and makes a bit of noise Flip 5 is better hardware in general but cover screen still not great. Another thing about Razr is that you can’t use everything on cover screen. For example photos and Settings you don’t have access to it

Nothing anyone can say to convince me that the razor is better than the flip 5 the little bit of stuff that the razor is better at really doesn't even matter

Great video.. of I had at&t or t Mobile i would have went razr for those deals. But I'm on Verizon and they have nothing. So the Samsung trade in was just to good to say no. If Moto really wants to take a bite out of Samsung they need some good trade ins. I know they can't do $900 for the last Samsung but give me $500-600 and it would be good.. the best they gave was $270 for the flip 4. Maybe next year with done success with the razr this year they will give better deals outright.

Only downside is my battery issue on the moto, I've already done a factory reset twice which helps for like a week then it starts burning the battery like crazy almost 15%/hr

Hell yeah! I got z flip 3, and I'm a poor bastard with the addition of my country not having any proper trade in deals so I'm not able to upgrade. Alas, it's refreshing to see a tech youtuber to actually and wholeheartedly say the moto is better. Reading and watching about these phones, people go and clamor about the widgets in Samsung. Why? What's the point of a decent widget if you can use the whole app (yes I know about goodlock, I have it on my flip 3). I also think in general people WAY OVERHYPE the updates across the board, I'm a tech enthusiast and do them months late, the average consumer doesn't give a flying F. In a vacuum, the flip has better cameras, and update policy. Maybe better build quality? Oh well, I'm just rambling. I want the Moto, but will need to wait and see if either has a deal in my country during Black Friday..

Mr. T-O, we always appreciate your "objective reviews" and i like that you have called out Samsung for being so complacent with their phones, specifically, the flip 5. I could tell 10 minutes in the store that the Samsung was way better build quality that'll the Moto. Forget the hinge "breaking", just the operation of the Flip is much nicer as it can put it in any angle. You can't do with the Razr--go too far and it snaps fully open. And I'm pretty sure Samsung made the screen purposely 720p 60hz so it wouldn't kill the battery knowing it was super small screen. Don't get me wrong, I'm really pissed off at Samsung for some of the shady stuff they've done with their business & the literal fact that they stripped out the headphone jack and SD card after mocking Apple for doing it, those hypocrites! But I'm going to call it as I see it and what I've noticed the Flip 5 is the superior phone. Differences: Razr has the last-gen chipset so it will be less efficient on the battery and the heat Razr does not have mmwave 5g--still very important a big city to get fast rates I think the camera has been very under played is I've heard from numerous people that the Flip destroys the Motorola in that area Compared to the Samsung, just felt like a toy to me right down to the Hideous blocky text in the notification shade. I have a flip 5 on order that I got from Samsung site so that negates the crappy color scheme you get through the carrier with that gaudy silver trim. But it's looking more and more like I'm going to send it back and just get a phone from a company that actually had the guts to not follow the Lemmings and keep the headphone jack and SD card--that would be the Sony Xperia 1 V.

Based on the camera alone the razr is a no go. Recent durability test shows the razr failing miserably too. Samsung needs to improve the cover screen even more and add a telephoto lens for 1k.

I upgraded from an iPhone 13 Mini to the Razr+. I absolutely love this phone but i hope i don't end up regretting my decision.

I bought Razr plus, used it for about almost a month. I really liked the phone so much with all the feature and the ease of use. However, my unit started forming up a set of hairline cracks on the main screen that I ended up returning the unit and refund. Get the Samsung Flip 5, and out of the box I could already tell that the phone is a way more solid than the Razr plus plasticky feeling. I just wish I could get Samsung build quality and Razr plus features that would be the best flip phone ever.

There has been a durability test with the razor and the flip 5 The razor loses hands down. It will not hold up to the flip5

Love the look of the razr definitely looks nicer but if i where to choose one of these two i would pick the samsung only because of the security patch frequency

I probably would've considered Motorola Razr, if not for their inconsistent software updates.

In my opinion Motorola did a better job with the front screen and optimizing the software but as far as the overall build quality I think Samsung edges out Motorola.

The Razr is a more beautiful phone and offers something new unlike the boxy Samsung

You're right that the average consumer isn't going to know how to access the whole front screen. It's a no brainier for Samsung to just unlock the full functionality of the front screen out of the box and not have us jump through hoops for something so obvious. I use good lock for customization on my s23+ and it's a great app, but its just silly for Samsung not to have included full functionality.

Loving my RAZR plus. Motorola is overlooked and mot given enough credit. They have been doing this forever. If they start updating their devices on time and as promised, they can really start getting more attention. I've been a Motorola fan for years.

There's a video on RU-vid where they tested the hinged by folding it 400000 times , and the Razrs hinge broke first with a line going straight down...

I'm so in doubt right now. The motorola is pretty but the samsung too. 😮‍💨
