Z Flip 5 Review // The Good and Bad!

It's a nice upgrade

After even a full day?? I'm leaning toward a s23u soon because of the 5000mah, I'm kinda scared to go with the flip5, I struggle a bit to do all my day with my note 20 ultra. Battery health is still good, but sometimes at work we have to wait for a few hours for different reasons and those times I stuggle to finish the day... I need a good SOT time, 9+ hour. I hate to have to charge during the day. I stream music and podcasts for 4 hours a day, browse for 4 hours per day and stream videos for 2 hours on average, but sometimes I need up to 10 hours of SOT. N20u does the job but sometimes I dont last the day. Battery stops charging at 85 for me to keep it healty longer.

Why my battery in my flip 5 Its so bad?

OMG, I'm switching out my Flip 3 for the Flip 5 and and am soooo excited about it. Battery life on Flip 3 is a mess. Looking forward to it!🎉

There were no horror stories and zero problems. I ordered my Z Flip 5 through Adam's link. My $700 credit was verified by Samsung last night, four days after they received and examined my Z Flip 3 trade-in. Of course, the trade-in phone was very well cared for, the return packaging was excellent, and I did keep my FedEx return shipping receipt for a "just in case".@@gcforreal

Why do you choose the flip over the fold and is it your primary device?

@bigdrews4360 I also have the S23 Ultra. For me convenience of small form factor is better than a mini tablet. I use my Samsung tablet when I want a bigger screen.

Yes. A downgrade, but I did it because I had an extra s23 ultra. Not going to be a battery champ like the big slab or the camera beast, but I've found I enjoy the smaller phones too. Way more pocketable!

Well isn’t this the reason why Samsung copied the mini screen yet they limit it to widgets. I mean if you gonna add the front screen make it usable 100% that’s what people want.

@@TechOdyssey had the fold 4 since launch. Great phone , reality is you end up using the front screen alot , awful for using as phone to talk with far to heavy in the hand. The front screen is just to slim and so it becomes a pain constantly having to open up it up, it's not easy , crease is very visible. So it's a strange one as a open foldable device fantastic, as a phone it sucks compared to an S23 etc. I have had all the Samsung phones since the early days. Would not buy another large fold again. Far to heavy folded.

Definitely a bad idea lol ..the only thing you're gaining is a compact phone and honestly you could have just got the base s23 for a powerful compact phone you're taking a hit in battery...camera quality, display , Dex , pen etc just to be able to fold.the phone down to a compact state

I actually got rid of my S23 Ultra for the flip 5. But for me it was about the compact size. I never really liked carrying a huge phone. The Ultra has about everything you could ever want in a phone and the flip has about everything you could need in a smaller package. Depends on what you are looking for in a phone

Sadly true. Gotta say though, I wasn't expecting much of a difference between the fold 3 and 5 but it's noticeably shallower both visually and to the touch. It's getting better... slowly.

The crease helps with water resistance. It serves a purpose and in use it's not noticeable

@kahcunanan The "new" teardrop/waterdrop hinge is what many Chinese flip phones have been using, and they have been notably flimsy failing to firmly hold all angles. Samsung succumbed to the pressure of eliminating the gap and adopting this type of hinge, which turned out to be exactly that: flimsy and loose. The Free-Stop at all angles was sacrificed. Samsung admits that on their website that the hinge won't hold beyond about 75-115 degrees compared to older models due to "new improved hinge." Calling "wobbly" as "smooth" is a marketing tactic to trick everyone to send back their solid Z Flip4. I'm glad you like this new experience, and I sadly didn't. Many others on the reddit have already been disappointed in this flimsy hinge. Time will tell, and it's already telling. There is no accounting for taste, though.

My 5 hinge isn't loose at all. Reminds me a lot of my 4 hinge.

Then don't buy one.
