This sounds great! Why don't you use this mic on your other reviews? The sound quality is amazing compared to the GoPro mic.

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro's will accept this mic perfectly fine. Modded Sennheiser HD 558's also work well.

When comparing the audio coming from the Sony and the V-MODA mic, I do like how natural the sound is with the Sony. It sounds like I'm sitting next to you talking with you, whereas with the V-MODA it definitely has a more "I'm talking to you Skype" sort of feel. That being said, I would be using a mic for chatting over discord and I don't need that crystal clarity. Plus I do like the fact that the V-MODA doesn't pick up the back ground noise too much. I've had my Crossfade LP1's since 2012 and they sound just as good as they did brand new. So I know that V-MODA quality really holds up well over time. Great video! ♥

OMG! the V-Moda BoomPro sound quality is incredible! it's even beating ModMic in every aspect! Cooler Master MH630 is the King of Headsets of 2020! I have HyperX Cloud Mix, I love it! but after suffering from the low mic audio for a long time I found it comes with a defect mic! so whom suffering from this issue it's a mic defect you should replace the mic under the warranty before it ends like what happened to me!

damn the v moda boom pro sounds like a legit streamer mic. it captures your sound and intonation, each part of stress that you put on your voice, the v moda mic captures it accurately. off the topic, why you had a frying pan beside your computer though.

do you need a Dac or a soundcard for these or can you just plug these in your PC?

Foster T50Rps mk3 with mod ear pads and vmoda mic or Philips fidelio X2s with vmoda mic? I am using these for 60% gaming and 40% music. For gaming I will be using it for the PS4.

I find it odd that you still recommend this mic, mine had audio crackling issues with a few months and I've seen similar issues reported on amazon about it. For me it was a big waste of money.

Also, does the mic do a good job of blocking leaking noise from an open headphone? It did a fantastic job with the speakers, but how about with something a little closer?

This thing is a pleasant surprise... didn't expect it to be this decent.

The antlion mic worked great till it didn't. I had it in the case for a few months because I had not needed it. Once the opportunity came up to use it I broke it out and set it up. The mic worked great, I didn't get any clipping, the sound was even and was not too pitchy on the low or high ends. I felt great about spending the almost 60 dollars with shipping until I decided to get out of my chair to refill my cup. I have wireless headphones so I am very accustomed to being able to get up and walk away. This time, I had the mic attached and away it went with me. once it got to the end of its rope it pulled and popped off of the magnetic clip. I shook my head at my stupidity and put it on my desk while I went to refill my water cup. When I got back I popped it back on to its magnetic clip and began keying the mic but no one could hear me. I double checked the mic to make sure it was still plugged into the computer which it was and wondered what was going on. I went through my mic set up and realized that while pc was recognizing that I plugged the mic in, the mic itself was no longer working. I changed computers and tested it to make sure it wasn't the pc I was on and sure enough, the mic registered but was not working. after a few hours of trouble shooting the only thing I could think of was that when it pulled, either the mic side or jack side connection broke. I would not have expected a mic of this price to break so easily but it did. I contact the company and explained what happened and their response was "sorry to hear about your problem but we will do not take returns in this type of instance and we have a 30 day warranty so there is nothing we can do for you. We have refurbished models that are marked down if you would like to purchase another one". Needless to say, I won't buy another antilon microphone... ever. The take away is this, if you are the kind of person that is very careful with your stuff, it will probably be a great mic for you. If not, look at a different product. I found it very disappointing that it was that easy to break a great microphone.

I prefer it to be level with my nipple that way I can get some pinch and more grip.

Wow, that sounds miles better than the antlion. I still prefer the sound quality of the sony mic, but the isolation+sound quality of the boompro is pretty compelling.

Am I the only one who gets a problem where the sound of my headphones cuts out occasionally when I touch the connection to my headphones? If I only slightly touch it, it can cut out the audio partially, it is really annoying because I was super hyped to get this and this is really annoying. I have the SHP 9500s with them.

Just thought I should add this. The sound quality is great but the braiding on the wire is problematic. Any friction against it will be picked up by the microphone, so if you're streaming you have to keep your head perfectly still. Or wrap the section above the volume/mute switch in smooth electrical tape.

The mute-switch on mine stopped working after 1 year of use 👎, which is too bad as I love having the mute switch / microphone kill-switch, and the mic quality is very good. Hopefully V-Moda can fix this in future products.

I’m assuming this won’t work for headphones that have an input on each side right? Is there a mic that is like this that works for headphones that have dual inputs?

Isn't there like horrible ground loop noise if you just use an extension down to your pc/soundcard + headphone into amp/dac?

Do you have to plug in the headphones in order to get the BoomPro to work? I know it's weird to not have them plugged into headphones, but if I just wanted to test the mic by itself, would that work? I only ask because it is not working for me and I haven't gotten my adapter to make the Vmoda fit into the headphones yet (I own Sennheiser 558's)

This vmoda boompro works better than I thought it would. It even stays in place where I move it. Although I am using mine with a vmoda headphone.

The only gaming headsets that I got sucked into was the Sony Pulse Elites.. the ones with the BassImpact tech which actually worked and worked really well with explosions, gunfire effects and such., tops with BD/DVD movies. It did have a very bad weak spot with build quality. Great mic the V-Modas, but think the Sony mic sounded a lot better.

The Sony mic IMHO sounds better, more smooth. The BoomPro has a very subtle husky, raspy sound. Just ever so slightly. Nothing that would most would care to notice especially while gaming, but would notice in a conference. I am specifically listening for the difference. It also makes Zeos's voice sound slightly, I don't want to say sterile here because it isn't that bad, but it does sound a bit less colorful, warm, smooth and alive IMHO. If I had to put it in percent the sound of the Sony Lav is 10-15% better. # The wire may be cheaper # you may have to run a second wire down, unless you have good wireless headphones. # the wire may be short, but has no bulky volume/mute housing # has no mute abilities. Just use a keyboard or mouse shortcut for that. # if you are recording stereo, you may want your computer on the floor, if it makes noise. Not a problem if you are doing mono and point the active side away from your pc. However the big upside (here in South Africa at least), is I could buy 5, yes you read correctly FIVE!!! Sony Lavaliere mics, for the price of one BoomPro. Sometimes even 6 if the price is low/someone has a special. Also for anyone considering the BoomPro, you may want to get a little foam shield. Just to reduce the popping/booming, since it is right by your face, if it becomes a problem for you. The Sony lav doesn't need it since it is on your chest and away from your face. If you feel I missed something, miss represented something or otherwise got something wrong feel free to reply. Both positive and negative criticism is welcome, and most likely will be replied to, however please try to keep it civil.

Bought the phillips sph9500s because of your review and was between this mic and the modmic. After watching this definitely going with the v-moda!

Headphones plugged into my e10k and boompro plugged into onboard creates A LOT of whine.. just a heads up for people wanting to use this mic with a similar setup. You'll have to buy either a USB isolator or something like the Creative E1

What is th diffrence between the legitimate V moda boom pro, and the cheaper " v moda boom pro" that is unbranded and has the weird felixible 3.5mm connector. You can find it on Ebay. Cheers

Awesome review! I wasn't aware you could use this mic with the mad dog. But.. What did you say about that red box and the Mad Dog? "It can barely get it to the right volume". Can't you just put your audio cable into your amp, and the mic cable into your laptop/pc? Or just both in the laptop/pc? The mad dog isn't that hard to drive in terms of volume..

So question is; Audiotechnica ATH-AD500X + ModMic 4.0 or Philips SHP9500 + V-Moda BoomPro for gaming? Which too choose and why? How big will be the difference between them?

My only complaint would be there's not a "controller" button on it for a smart phone setup. It would be useful to Play, Pause, Next Song, Launch Google Now \ Siri. Then again the 1-Button SpeakEasy Mic Cable probably doesn't sound nearly as good. Decisions, decision...

Can those MSR7s fit the boom pro? Their jack is also a little recessed.

So ive had the boompro for about 2 months or so and it worked fine. Now recently i bought the O2 and the Dacmagic 100 and now i have this slight but annoying static sound and the strangest thing is that it increases when i move my mouse. Idk what to do except selling the boompro because its unusable in that state.

I enjoyed my time with this mic, combined with your cookie cutter SHP9500s. Until the inline volume control wheel began shitting itself a few months later. I began to have to fiddle with the wheel as it started to cut out/alter volume of the left and right channels of my headphones. Bummer. Guess I'm just gonna get those sony ecm-cs3s. Wish someone made a decent inline mic without the flimsy circuit boards always having to be in the middle of the cable.

I bought it to use with Fidelio x2 and Audioengine D1 but as soon as i plug the mic strange static/hissing noise appears. When I move my mouse there is even more noise. Tried diffrent usb cables to connect Audioengine with, tried plugging the mic to some cheap usb sound card but nothing solves the problem. :(( im gonna be buying some cheap 3.5mm JACK GROUND LOOP ISOLATOR and see if that helps.

Can anyone confirm if I were to use this with my SHP9500, connect the mic to the mobo mic input & use an adapter cable to connect audio to my external iFi Zen DAC - will I get a feedback hum? In which case I'd be better off getting a ModMic 4 0r 5?

I bought the Takstars hi2050 and Modmic 4 unidirectional mic for my PS4. And now I'm thinking about getting the Vmoda Boom pro and Superlux hd668s. Two reasons, one being that the wire length is way too long if you're on PS4 as you only have to connect it to the pad (arm length max). Secondly because of the two wires. Not the biggest of reasons but it doesn't hurt to try another 'setup'.

So... Are your hands ridiculously large, or did I order the XL version of the Philips.... They look so small in your hand compared to my own

Foreword, im noob about sound, amp, dac, i started to look for a dac and good headphones 2 month ago with your videos and i know that this is an old video, but i saw your hyperx cloud alpha review and you say something like "you cant plug this headphone output into 789 and the mic into the soundcard, you cant cause you separate the ground that are shared down the wire", but in this video (i mean the v-moda boompro) you say that you can plug the headphone output into the amp and the mic into the soundcard or the analog microphone input; i didnt understand what it's right, in this video you say that you can do it cause the amp is plugged right into your computer but you couldnt do it if the amp was connected to a dac? Plus i hope you review the creative sound blasterx g6 (i'd like to have something that doesnt cost much than 150 bucks and that i can use it for gaming and music "almost at the same quality level" ) cause i would like to buy it for black friday and even if i take any feedback of different videos, you are the one that i trust most. You forgot to show how revealing the sony mic is to background noise. Obviously, it sounds better in a controlled environment, but I do not agree that it is a better mic for voice communication. I would rather not hear people's ambient noises triggering hands free constantly because their mic is too sensitive.

Just got a pair of SHP9500S headphones, based on your recommendations along with others, and along with it I ordered a boompro, weird thing, using the Y adapter if I plug into my headphone/mic jacks on the front of my PC, the mic works but the headphones only work on the left side. HOWEVER, if I plug the headphone side of the Y adapter into my logitech speakers headphone jack, the headphone works fine. if I disconnect the y adapter the headphones work fine on both the front jack AND logitech headphone jack. Weird hiccup, but I don't really care because on the whole it works and I can get around the headphone problem with an extension cable, and it's stupidly better than the sony xtra bass on ear ear-punchers that I've been living with, and the probably dollar store headset that died a fatal death just a few weeks ago, so I'm happy, thanks!. as an aside I WAS going to get Blue Lola's on sale, but even then it's $230 cdn and hard to justify just because that was my grandmother's name..

i use this mic with my beyerdynamic custom one pro headphones and if i play music over youtube and talk to people over discord when mute mic switch is on people over discord hear my music playing, louder, if i unmute mic with built in switch they still hear my music playing but lower volume, why is that? i even took out microphone jack out of its socket and music is still playing over discord, only when i mute mic in discord it stops playing....

Question: I got myself this for use with my mk3's but the mic barely reaches the middle of my cheek. As a result, my voice is very quiet and bumping up 'Microphone boost' from the WIndows control panel brings it a crapload of static. I'm using my motherboard's rear panel I/O for the mic. Would the creative E1 or Audio Technica ATR2USB improve volume? Any recommendations? Thank you

Sounds too much muffled to me. Maybe it doesn't need to be covered against wind or breath but still it is too much muffled.
