hi Kawasaki recommends you replace the o rings in the cooling system at the same time may i ask why you didnt?

Hi thanks for the comment - I'm guessing mean the o ring / gasket on the drain bolt- yes you are correct they should be changed, I didn't because I overlooked that I will pin this comment so other can see and thanks for pointing it out :)

Hi! Thanks for picking up on my comment...unfortunately kawasaki don't specify they just say replace o rings in the cooling system. Im about to do this job myself seeing as I've just hit 42k...

Appreciate the video and the tip on squeezing hoses to remove air. With regard to running engine after filling up, my thought is to run motor briefly (say 15 seconds), shut it off and check level in radiator before engine gets too hot to remove radiator cap and check level. A brief run or two like this should allow for coolant circulation and air removal from system which will help speed up the process of removing all of the air from system and getting it 100% filled with coolant. Still need to keep an eye on levels for next couple of days. Another reason for a shorter run, I'd rather run engine for less time in a less than completely filled condition. When fans kick on, engine temp is at the high limit. Running engine with air in system is not good in my book. Cheers.

Hi thanks the comment I can see what you're saying but what I will say is the method shown is the way the factory manual tells you to do it and IIRC my Triumph used a similar method. But if that method works for you then that's good. . I think the idea is that you remove any major air bubbles and any tiny ones will dissipate due to the design of the cooling system.

@@TheSussexBiker hey man, I have a Z1000 2018 and didn't bother to take the bottle out as you have to remove big parts, instead you can reach in from the right side (opposite to kick stand) and remove the rubber hose. This drains 99.9% of the coolant then I put distilled water in to flush the last drops (only because I'm extra) or put coolant in it and let that drain out and put the hose back on... Easy peasy

Thank you so much for the enlightening video series. Kindly advice, I just bought a used Kawasaki 1000 sport tourer 2017 model. I noticed the temperature goes to the 5th bar on the instrument on idling when in motion, it goes down to 4th bar. The instrument has 6 bars, hence I'm concerned the temperature is too high. Kindly advice. Thanks

Saw a lot of your vids, is it really necessary to change all those mods and stuff on that z1000 gen1? I'm a more cool driver. Now and then I smack it open but not that often and really it's driving smooth I kinda don't find it a must to change parts... Let me know your thoughs man 😉

Hi Thanks for commenting - not sure I understand your question 'mods' from my side of the pond means modifications - or are you asking about changing things on a service? If so then yes regardless of how your bike is running it will be still due service items to changed at the recommended intervals. Thanks for watching and commenting.

If your coolant isn't very dirty then probably not, but if it's quite dirty/discoloured then yes it would be advantageous.

Now then pal, any guidance on replacing the exhaust system on this bike? Got a new system arriving in a few days, I've got no real concerns with doing the work myself (done a few), just wondering how much needs to be taken off the bike to facilitate installation; IE does the radiator need to come completely off, or can it be moved aside without draining etc? Thanks for any info!

Hi I've not removed the complete exhaust on this bike only the left hand silencer for cleaning /maintenance. I've heard people say that you can remove the downpipes/headers without removing the radiator, I would probably at least undo the radiator and move it forward just to give myself more room.

@@TheSussexBiker I can confirm that it can easily be done without touching the radiator at all. Just the side fairings need to come off.

It's been a while since I did this I personally did as I don't like struggling around things- it doesn't take long and you can visually check the rest of the bike while you are there:)
