8ßcrv2 isn't a stainless steel..it's a very tough carbon steel..it has 0.5% chrome in it only..it's far away from stainless..but it's a very good steel..i like this steel..

How on earth did I miss this video, it only appears 6 days after it’s posted?☹️ In fact I’ve missed 3 including this one, I’m gutted!

I just received one of these ZA-PAS knives based on your recommendation. Pretty fantastic for the price - came with a nice edge and a nice point. My only real "complaint" - which isn't really a complaint on a knife of that price, is the the front quilllion is super spiky. If you have fat hands and they slide forward you're at risk of scratching your index finger. Nothing filing the edges round can't fix though. The handle is a little small for my hands (my pinkie is hanging in the air like I am drinking a cuppa english-style) but all in all for £35 this is a good buy.

if the 80crv2 is soft on the sides and spine, just file it (spine and sides) down a bit where you want to strike a ferro rod. From what I understand the middle hardens more than the ouside.

I have reprofiled it and squred the spine and......so far so good!

Nice kit. I like the little twin pouches like a tiny plce pouch idea, useful and brown or dark green are good. I have the same issue with torches for what they are.

Cool vid, thanks. If I had the means I would absolutely get one of those larger pouches! Keep up the solid work.

80crv2 is a great steel. I dunno if I'd call it stainless. "80CrV2 is commonly known as Swedish Saw Steel. It is a manganese-vanadium steel with 0.8% carbon content, making it a true high-carbon steel; and as such is easily harden able, and with very good edge retention. It has an excellent reputation for toughness and shock resistance, comparable to S7 steel. It is used by companies including Zombie Tools and Winkler Knives."

Varusteleka's Terävä brand knives use 80crv2 steel exclusively. Their most popular knives are called Terävä Jääkäripuukko 110 and 140 and also Terävä Skrama 200 and 240. Plus a bunch of other blades. And I think they are pretty budget priced for what you get.

Neil thats a great looking knife. It would be nice to see a video of how the knife performs as is before you modify it and how it performs after the modification is done.

The pukko, just like bps is customisable, for the money you can bling it to taste ,and if first time fails its cheap enough to buy a new one .in my opinion . God bless

Neil have you any thoughts on Jack Pyke knives? I keep looking at them on ads that pop up. Just wondering if they are worth the money?

For those viewers who say a flashlight are out of their reach, how many do you have? I mean if a $60 flashlight is out of reach, then why do you have $150 of cheap flashlights? Maybe you don't have that many now, but how many have you had and tossed in the bin when they failed? Many people are on a budget, but don't use price as an excuse to keep buying crappy gear.

I wouldn't pay that much on principle. I have plenty I've got cheap and lasted me for years as I don't abuse my kit. I lost use of a torch last years that was over 30 years old.

My best flashlights cost about $30. Sofirn, thrunite, wurkkos are all amazing flashlights. I've had mine for years now. Not one as failed. But I have lost a few.

Yeah handles too small and prefer a scandi grind just find it easier than having a second bevel but think it would be good for the kids

I’m not trolling just making my point so don’t kill me. I have no idea why European and even North American people like those Scandinavian bevel or there knives. I really tryed to like them and failed. I tried everything from an old wood handle Mora to yes even an original cost me an arm and a leg Ray Mears (I forget the makers name. I gave the knife away years ago) with no luck. I used a Canadian Grohmann for years till I designed my own knife in a very similar fashion. I find they do all bush craft except slitting wood better than the Scandinavian style and I use an axe for that job anyway.
