I had to raise my two daughters on my own. Their mom did 17 years in prison then got deported. I had no idea what I was doing so I raised them treating them like boys. Tossing hay bales. Riding horses, herding cows. I raised them with a lot of love. Life wasn't easy, but we had each other. I did okay as a father. The both got softball scholarships to Division 1 schools. My oldest went to Texas A&M. My youngest play at Kansas State. Both of them are RNs. They are also great wives and moms. They are still my little girls though.

As a Dad of a fantastic son and daughter I can tell you it is true that the bond between a Dad and a daughter is something special. I found that while there is no book telling you that is worth its salt how to raise a daughter and then a son it is with love that you start with. You know you have their love and trust when you are asked to walk them down the aisle when they get married. Then the Dad and Daughter dance at the reception. These are memories no one can take away from you.

My daughter got married June 10th, and chose this song for our dance. I barely made it through it then, and I still can't get through it now, without tears. It was a very special moment, made even more special by the song. Thank you

as a girl who grew up with no dad but I did grow up with a grandpa who's taught me the true meaning of dad and love. He's taught me how to fend for myself and has protected me from everything. This song has pretty much described our realtionship. From the first day he saw me, I had him wrapped around my fingers. I'm lucky to have him

Never had a dad but i grew up with my grandpa being my dad figure. I miss him dearly each day and songs like this keep his memory alive in my soul. It also makes me realize what my actual dad has missed out on and i feel sorry for him not knowing the wonderful the woman ive become .. all because of my grandaddy.

my daughter is/was my life although shes grown now and dont have much time to crawl under the table or play in the snow im still stuck right there.. i was a mere 16 when she changed my life for the absolute best.. so we definitely grew up together.. just want to say to all future dads and current dads of teenage daughters.. they will pull away from you at 16-18 is the worst but they'll come back 😉 they always come back lol just take my advice and pay a little extra attention when she starts to push you away dad.. that is precisely when she needs you the most.. love and be well..

My 2 daughters are my life and damn they grow up so fast. Take the time to take in the lil stuff. The tee ball games the softball games daughters dance recitals take it all in cause they grow up so fast. My oldest 17 already will be off to collage next year my youngest is already a sophomore. God damn where did the time go. And my last 5 years been a living hell for me. I blew out my back at work so now I've missed some things with my kids I wish I could have back. I just hope in their eyes they know I've tried and did my best to give them a good life. I doubt myself all the time but damn I hope they know that. I will always be their father but know real soon some young man is gonna sweep them off their feet and they'll be out on their own. I wish I could go back when they were 5 and 6 years old looking to me to show them the way. Christine and Alexis if for some reason you come across this know I love you both with my heart and will always be their for u at the drop of a dime no matter how old you are or how far away u move away I'll be their. Love you girls with all my heart! I know u know that. Love daddy....

My dad passed away a few months ago and everytime I hear this, I cry. After a break up with a bf he would always say, "no matter what you'll always have your daddy." I would give anything to hear those words again

WOW, I knew nothing of this band, I'm a 'old head' to most who know me, 60, and was fairly locked into my late 60's-70's music, not entirely at all, but had not been seeking new bands-new genre's, and see now lately that I've certainly been missing a lot of XTREMELY sweet soulful music. My daily diet of the Allman Brothers, The Dead, Govt.Mule, Hot Tuna, Little Feat, BB King, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton and other legends may have to ~move over-just a little to allow me the time to at least experience more-grow more, , , , and more. I was going to go to your show almost 7years ago in missouri but I had to miss it BC my 9 month pregnant wife didn't want want to risk going into labor at a concert. She was born and I fell in lobe harder and deeper than I ever thought possible. That little girl is my whole entire world. She keeps me pushing on through all my demons and is the only one to never give up on me.

This song gets me every time. I lost my dad unexpectedly November 2015. It crushed my world. there's not a day that goes by I don't think about my dad. After the majestic choir chorus completes and the child's happiness turns to horror --- as so often happens in real life -- the story comes full circle back to the love of family. Relating to these circumstances and my own daughter who has recently left our protection translates into a fact: Zac Brown has become one of the premier American story tellers in this or any generation. My hat is off to Mr Brown ... and not just because my scalp tingles every time I hear this beautiful musical story.

This song always will bring me to tears. This was my dad's favorite song. I just lost my dad to leukemia 2 months ago and he was literally my best friend we did everything together,and he was super young as well I am only 24. Listening to this song actually makes me feel like he is still hear singing to me. Every word is one he would tell me. It helps me feel better. Thank you for making us song because it has helped me heal in more ways than I can believe. I was my dad's baby girl and always will be. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Only speaking for myself, I just found this band and love them and everything Zac is doing to build a camp for children who need this most of all. Was watching Treehouse Masters one of my favorite shows and my lifelong dream has been to have a treehouse. There this beautiful man was on the show. Little did I know how amazing he truly is, but instinct told me he was extra special so I did research and was stunned. What a great story his life appears and I'm sure that's not the half of it. He is evidently destined for blessings and great things in this world and its people like this who make it a better place to live in. Ironically his name is scarily close to an old friend I grew up with named Jack Brown who also is a stellar musician I jammed with as a young woman, so it felt I was supposed to run into this man Zac and his music since that's how my own life is, full of unimaginable twists and turns and destinies. I'm certainly glad I did and am looking forward to following along and listening. Beautiful sounds, beautiful words, uplifting and heartfelt... and I really do need them.

My father and sister choose to play this at her wedding for there dance and it was the best decision I have ever seen someone make. I kid you not, almost everyone cried when they started dancing. It just describes everything and how much my dad loves all of his daughters.
