Miles the best thing you can do is understand your kid’s development so that when they’re doing x, y, and x you aren’t beating your head against the wall wondering wtf you did wrong. You just acknowledge that that is where they are developmentally right now, accept it, and support them as best as you can. And that continues into teen years and young adulthood. I try not to research parenting methods and instead I research childhood development so that I can apply my own experience with what I know is going on in my kids’ brains 🖤

I actually asked the jeweler doing my wedding ring if we could do a finger print on it, and he advised against it because there's no enough space, and to do a detailed fingerprint requires soft enough metal that will warp anyway with use. Very thankful to him for helping me adjust the design based on my needs, and ours turned out lovely! Artisan LA Jewelry, highly recommend them if you're in LA.

Can concur - weddings that are concerts are the best. My partner was a touring musician when we got married, so we got married in a music venue & our reception was a show featuring our fav bands that were able to be in town. One of the best nights ever.

Miles, just eat the food you want, when he starts eating, give him some too. Exposure without forcing him is the best way for him to eat everything. My 5 year old eats sushi because we never limited her on her diet. She will eat off the adult menu when we go out. It’s simple. Don’t limit what he eats and he’ll turn out just fine 😊

💡Miles, to solve my lamp issues I got wireless remote control wall outlets from Bezos’s site. They’re amazing. I plug them into my wall and then the lamp into them. I have 3 and one remote with buttons to turn the outlets on or off. I have that remote velcroed to my wall so it’s like having a light switch 🙌

Oh Zach, lol. Kids definitely get resistant to adopting your interests and hobbies at some phases and express interest in other things. But the total lack of interest in things I was so excited to share with them was a big disappointment. At the same times - the most valuable lesson you can learn is that your kid is their own person and your projections and hopes and desires are only ephemeral wishes that you have to be careful not to push onto your kids. It's so hard, but so important - let them explore their interest and share them and support them. As for things like being good/adventurous eaters - dude, I don't think it really matters. My experience may not be totally average, since my kids are neurodivergent and sensory issues plays a role. But we did baby-led weaning, we did so much introduction of foods - my oldest? We regularly went out to fun restaurants, she loved Indian and had great variety . . . right up until preschool when other kids said vegetables were gross. Then she stopped eating non-kid-stuff for years. Now she eats well just to be contradictory to her friends. My youngest has real sensory/sensitivity issues, despite attempting to do the same thing with him. He subsists on about 10 foods and we slowly get him to try new foods regularly. Put it out there, but realize it's rarely what you do (or don't do).
