In the OG game when Aerith and Cloud chill at the park, Aerith says Zack was her first boyfriend and that she "really did like him for a while" while in the Remake she says "He's the first man I ever loved." Which seems like a much higher level of affection.

They did always refer to Zach as a puppy in crisis core...

Just imagining our reactions if Zack shows up to save Aerith from Sephiroth and then joins the party or something crazy like that. Can. You. Imagine. the. HYPE. 😱😱😱🤤🤤

Sweet mother of Darkness, how did I miss this... Zack remembers Sephy from before he went crazy. Cloud, not so much. What if the reason Future!Sephy is acting more "human" is because he has an additional source of memories to draw from?

The possibility of Zack being alive and supporting Avalanche from the shadows is an option I hadn't even considered....and I LOVE IT!!! I really hope it turns out to be something like that.

IN ADDITION TO THE "ZACK'S AVALANCHE" THEORY: I REALLY REALLY THINK THAT.. During Barret's talk with Cloud in Chapter 14 when Barret talks about Finn, Al, and Cissnei -the way he described them is like: Finn = Zack (lazy little punk) Al = Kunsel (inside man) Nellie = Cissnei (tight with Jesse, looks like sisters) I think it's pretty accurate -especially that the names sound like they were taken from a part of their OG names... from Zack "Fair" comes Finn, from Kun-sEL comes Al, and from CissNEI comes Nellie.. I might be stretching this damn thing too far but I really think it's possible! I mean they were never shown on screen yet so.....

When Cloud and the gang are infiltrating the warehouse to get the explosives, they point out that someone took out the guards already. It wasn’t Jessie, and it’s never really touched upon again. Also, the reason Avalanche has cells is because of Rufus. He’s actually the one funding and in control of them. That’s why there was an assassination attempt on Shinra’s life as he’s trying to gain control of the company. This is something that is going to be a big reveal later on down the line. This is going to turn Barret’s whole view on things upside down.

I’d like to think Zack is “Finn” who is leaving the stamp marks. After all the name Finn itself means “Fair”

Man Pez, what you what you were talking about at 18:00 really made me think about Advent Children for some reason. And I know a lot of people dismiss it, or don't care for it (gorgeous action pieces and cinematography aside) but wouldn't it stand to reason, as hinted at multiple times during that movie, that Zack as been with Aerith in the lifestream this entire time. So if she was somehow allowed to go back with a new mission to change fate, you know damn well that he wouldn't let her go it alone. He's alive. Somewhere. No doubts about it. Being the good angel he always was and became in the end :3

Stamp song is quite interesting indeed, if you heard the first half, at the end it says take a stand at Shinra, but on the second half there's no mention on Shinra instead become the chorus which says stamp never stops and now still kicking bad guys butt.

What if it was called Crisis Core because that’s the story of Zack dying, and the beginning or “core” reason for the Crisis (the 500 yr ending at the end of OG) that is to be averted in Remake? 🤔

Hey~ There's Ray. But, yeah. I'm very, very convinced that this is what's happening. Because I picked up on Avalanche being way too involved in shit. And the timing of that other cell raiding the same place as Cloud and the others is way too perfect. Something else is going on. Ray also mentioned that, if Zack surviving is the will of the planet because it needs him to sort of be the ace in the hole against Sephiroth, then Cloud *cannot* know that Zack's alive. Sephiroth would read that in a heartbeat and the gig is up. Sephiroth would change tactics to neutralize the new threat in a heartbeat. So, every time someone mentions Zack, or something that would trigger Cloud into remembering him, the planet itself shuts that down real quick. Like, this go around, it might not be Cloud suppressing his own memories, it might very well be the damn planet. They tell us that Jessie's theory is that mako poisoning is when someone's spirit is stuck between their body and the heart of the planet, and the lifestream is "memory and hope," so Cloud's spirit/mind coming back to his body *missing some things* would be well within the planet's power to do.

According to Vans In the Japanese Version of the song there's a line about Stamps collar being a Symbol of Courage/Justice which the Kanji for Symbol could also mean Proof of Existence which matched something Zack tells Cloud in the original series about Cloud brcoming his living Legacy.

Such as when Aerith mentions Zack... well do you remember at the beginning and the group is doing the blow up the reactor? Noticed another peice of evidence to your theory. During the first chapter when Barret says, "Wonder is little stamp can bite the hand that feeds him." Cloud has a "PTSD moment" at first you might think he is reacting to not being soldier but I think he is actually reacting to stamp. (Zack)

I screamed when I thought about this "a character who would look like Jessie but be with Finn, Al, AND Zack," (my next thought) "huh could a graphically upscaled Cissnei's look like Jessie?" "We never learned her real name." To that point, why wouldn't she be with an ALIVE ZACK. Maybe not romantically since Zack loves Aerith, but the point is though that it is during this period after the events of Crisis Core that AN OPENING appears on the Turks Team. Elaina joins the Turks as the newby. Who did she replace? Cissnei? Maybe. But, why isn't Cissnei on the team anymore? While I don't know the original answer I do know that the hero is alive.

Shinra captured Zack in near-death state, and after being rejuvenated in a vat of Jenova cells, given prosthetic limbs akin to Darth Vader or Mecha-Freiza.

Zack is a living specimen as a 1st Class Soldier WITH S Cells ontop of being a standard Mako and Jenova cell infused Soldier.

When you mentioned at 33:45 what would happen if the cells were combined I remembered the scene where Hojo told Cloud that he never was a soldier. Barret and Tifa didn't react to that and I still wonder why.

Very interesting theory! Good ideas! and the idea that Zack is on a mission that the planet called on him as a last ditch effort to help them achieve is pretty awesome. It's awesome when you think of how many people he's influenced. Aerith's confidence is directly tied to Zack's influence. Also, Cloud's confidence is tied to him as well! Simply awesome character!

Okay *real talk here* I am not trashing Cloud here cause he is 1 of my favourite characters in the entire franchise but *Zack* is my number 1 favourite Zack has the *BEST* Character development and he for that reason he was EVEN *Nominated* in *Japan* to be above Cloud Strife in the *Rankings* as a well Character development Zack isn't 1 *dimensional* as some people *intend* to say in order to trash the character Zack *may be smiling* but he *dies on the inside* We see him in many moments where his *soul* can't handle some *circumstances* and he breaks Its amazing cause with Zack you get to begin playing as a *teenage young boy* who wanna be a hero and Ending up with a *mature man* His entire *Arc* is beautiful as Cloud would say on the *Remake* 😜 He slowly becomes from a *young arrogant teenage boy to a man* And its because of *ALL* this that happens in his life that he becomes that way Zack doesn't want to bother people with his problems that's why he smiles and try to make everyone around him feel comfortable and nice Zack was lucky and born a talented kid . my theory is he's the founder of avalanche. the creators said that stamp is very important. if you notice the one that flies by zack is a "puppy" version of the ones that jesse, biggs and wedge use.

Original owner of the buster blade (reference the stamp bag). not to mention think of it as a time line Zack brings cloud to Midgard and then he might leave after making sure cloud could stand on his own feet.

The way I see it is when the crew defeated the arbiters of fate it changed the timeline from point of their first interference which was at the time of zacks death so everything after that moment was changed .

At the end where you're talking about the whispers at Zack's last stand....I think that was Aerith, because after the camera zooms out from her on the highway she then turns a portion of the whisper wall to white. I think she prayed to the planet and altered that moment and then in order to solidify the change had to defeat the harbinger. She tries to pray to the planet and influence the whispers a couple times throughout the game, and she is surprised at times when they are helpful to the party. To recap, I think she starts to realize that she can influence the whispers, sees the vision of zack's last stand as a suggestion from the planet, then she uses that white light on the whisper wall, which summons the whispers to Zack's aid through Aerith, they walk through the singularity, take out the harbinger, and finalize the change she made, which now has a ripple effect on the current reality. One timeline. No multi verse.

If Zack isn't alive he's more of a whisper like being or something like sephiroth

Mate, I love you. The idea of multiple timelines actually hurt my very existence. This makes perfect sense, and has given me hope that it is a single coherent story. Feel so much better now

I just want to point out something that many people seem to forget or rather they never really bothered to notice. Cloud is not the perfect and strong badass some people make him out to be. he is not special. on the contrary...he is fragile, unsure and weak minded. when FF7's main character was created he was supposed to be a positive and outgoing black haired man. but that was changed into a blonde and more fragile person who was unsure of himself and who was weak to being manipulated, since it would make the story more believable. cloud as a character was literally created because zack, who was the original concept, was too perfect, too pure, too good and too strong. think about it. Zack fair was the first and ONLY soldier first class who was a normal human and not a jenova clone like angeal, genesis and sephiroth. and when zack and cloud were taken in by hojo to be experimented on, it was stated that they implanted jenova cells into both of them, but they did not have any effect on zack. some people say that this was due to him being infused with mako, which is quite obviously bullshit since angeal, genesis and sephiroth were all infused with mako as well and cloud was in a mako tank in the shinra manor AND fell into the live stream TWICE. he was still affected by jenova...but zack never was. he was too strong minded and too "pure" if you will. zack is quite special and that is a fact that most people either don't even understand or overlook in favour of cloud being such a badass and hero, which in all honesty he never was and never was supposed to be, which is the sole purpose of his character even existing since he is SUPPOSED to be not as good as zack. which also ties in to cloud and aerith NEVER even supposed to become a couple, since it is one sided all the time and in the end aerith even said that she misses the steel sky which is a obvious refference to zack.

will there at some point there will be a reveal, I'm guessing involving Yuffie and Wutai, where Zack will appear as a high ranking Wutai officer or leader of Avalanche? This theory mindfucked me!

okay so what if the reason zack survived his encounter was actually because of sephiroth, as we know sephiroth seems to have some control over the whispers so maybe he needed to ensure zack's survival to complete his plan.

But are you saying that someone, like Minerva, appeared before Zack and said "Zack thou shall be a guardian hence forth and hide thine presence from your friends" and Zack just left a comatose Cloud at the train station with the Buster Sword?

How sick would it be if part 2 opened with you playing as Zack? I like this theory. It's like Aerith and Zack saw the original timeline saved, walked out of the church only to be sent to a branch in the timeline Sephiroth created. It's like a remake and a sequel based around first waifu and husbando.

Never thought abou it like that, it's amazing to think how much Zack could have played behind the scenes all this time, the idea of having him all along is mind blowing ^^ He definitely has the connections to makes things happen, probably has the resources to start this, he was a Soldier 1-Class, even after defecting from Shinra e should have some "savings" somewhere. And I do believe specially in the part that he is building his own Avalanche, after all he was some sort of tutor for new Soldier members like Angeal was for him in the beginning of the Crisis Core. By working with the Turks he may have learned some tricks on sneaking around and getting/planting info. All in all, I don't think anyone else would be so prepared as him!

@Final Fantasy Peasant I was just messing around and I may have found something interesting... not %100 certain but if you speed up Zack's theme (about x1.5 or 1.75) it sounds Quite a bit like Stamp's Song. Then again I'm not very musically inclined, but that saying the similarities are very intriguing.

Maybe in the next game - or as DLC - we can play as Zack after he leaves the unconscious Cloud with his sword and goes on helping avalanche rescuing Biggs take some leftovers from Jessie - like the bandana cause she's dead - hell maybe Zack even catches Wedge in midair after he's been yeeted out the window by the plot ghosts. But if that would be correct cutscenes would be a bit better for the pacing and the game play. Great Theory video ^^

If anything, Zack being alive at the end, what ever may come, I feel represents the "death" of the non Cloud , Cloud. With the Zack living, Cloud doesnt go crazy and has already learned to be himself vs the past where he was haunted by sephiroth the whole time. Even if they never meet, symbolically he has saved Cloud

Zack is for certain alive, but I don't think he is Stamp, just yet. My theory is that Zack is in a parallel/alternate universe, created by the will of the planet to ensure its survival against Sephiroth. Part 2 is when we will see Zack meeting up with Avalanche, and eventually altering the Stamp in Cloud's universe (maybe the Terrier Stamp is actually the real Stamp, but Zack's influence in his timeline altered Stamp to be a Beagle instead). Judging from the ending of Transmission, with Aerith basically confirmed dead in Zack's timeline (maybe Sephiroth impaled her, original FF7 style). My wild theory is going with the original FF7 squad broken up between Cloud and Zack. Cloud will continue his journey with Barrett, Tifa, Aerith, and Red 13. But, Cait Sith, Cid, Yuffie, Vincent (are still going to show up in Cloud's timeline), but they are going to be playable with Zack instead and his quest to find Sephiroth

i'd say if zack is stamp in the "main timeline" then the different breed stamp in the zack reveal scene might be cloud since the stamps fur matches cloud's blond hair and the Original Text means timeline the original/remake timeline And the chip bag is like a little window to Zack's timeline showing hey this timeline(original) has changed something here and the other way around in the future if Zack makes huge differences in the original timeline

I am betting Zack is working with Wutai as he was their downfall in Crisis Core. It explains their increased presence as Wutai in O.G. wasn't really a part of midgar storyline. He also has a crap ton of materia and since everything changed I believe Zack will have given up on loyalty to the company that tried to kill him. Also Wutai had tried to recruit Zack before, during the last mission in Wutai ie Ff7cc I think we will find Aerith knew the whole time Zack was alive and thats why she told Cloud he couldnt fall in love with her that it wasn't real.

What if Cissnei's real name was "Nellie" and he's helping Zack behind the scenes. And i wonder will Genesis and Angeal perhaps appear too?

At Jessie's house, when the Avalanche crew is having pizza, there is a chip packet on the table that says 'original' with the beagle dog drawn on the front, so it is really confusing. Does the word 'original' really matter in that case? Why would there be two different breeds that are both considered the original..But that idea of Zack having been working behind the scenes the whole time is really cool. There was definitely time compression stuff happening (where Cloud experienced painful emotions of the future); so even though the party 'changed fate' way after Zack was supposed to have died, it affected the past allowing Zack to live and pursue a different task that no one could've known (like how future Harry Potter and Hermione were doing things behing the scenes during the events of Prisoner of Azkaban). So Stamp was like a metaphor that was supposed to be a message for the players that he would be back..and is indeed back and was helping the party all along (whilst for the in-game characters Stamp meant a popular cartoon character that supported Shinra and were used by Avalanche...)!

So i have two different theories depending on if zack is alive or dead in remake. If he is alive. I don't believe in multiple timelines or time travel. If he is alive in part two it's because he has always been alive. Perhaps he always won that fight. What if he did bring cloud into Midgar and left the buster sword with him. Because he knew that they would be a target and wanted cloud to be safe. Knowing that Genesis is still alive. Zack goes underground to find him. Throughout the OG game he was alive then fought Genesis. At the end of Dirge when he wakes up it is after his defeat by zack. If he is really dead. You have to remember Jenova has the power to take the form of your dead loved ones. That was Jenova just messing with her head. All in all i think remake is just a way for the developers to add in all of the other games movies and books that they added to the story after the game. Like the changes to avalanche is based on all the back story added by the phone game Before crisis. The deep ground lab under sector 7 slums is from dirge. A few more characters added to the slums are also from the books. The whispers are mentioned in dirge in a conversation between Vincent and Reeves. Personally the more people are surprised by the "additions" the more i think they only played OG and nothing else.

People say that Zack will die on that cliff from getting attacked by three soldiers; this is unlikely. They wouldn't have bothered showing Zack at all if they were just gonna kill him at that same part anyways.

See I thought that it was that the effects of them defeating destiny rippled out in all directions through time, and it's actually incredibly dangerous for Zack to be alive, because if he is then Cloud doesn't end up at the start of OG, and we really don't know whether or not anyone would have stopped Sephiroth if Aerith wasn't captured rescuing Marlene, so Cloud and the gang weren't in Shinra HQ to see the masamune sticking out of Pres Shinra's back, kicking everything off for the post-Midgar part of the story. This all goes towards the actual big conflict of the new games where although we will still hit the same important story notes because we have to go make sure those events happen in a way that still see Sephiroth defeated, but we will also have to stop Sephiroth from converging these altered histories where he cannot be stopped, as well as future where he is so much more powerful than he was in OG, kinda like FF8 Ultimecia. It also seems like on a very high level not a lot in part 1 was changed, but the future is now wide open, and now we have to content with a Sephiroth who can literally erase our past or overwhelm us with power he will accumulate in the future, and it will be important to hold on to the memories of who we are, something that is going to be especially disastrous for Cloud, or maybe that's how Cloud ends up with his identity crisis - somehow Sephiroth is altering the timeline changing the world around Cloud and he is having conflicting memories from both sets of events, and the mixture of Mako and Jenova cells make him aware of those other memories, while most people only have access to the memories from the altered pasts, a sort of Mandela Effect where everyone remembers the Berenstain Bears, but you know it was the Berenstein Bears, and you can also remember Berenstain, and both sets of memories are competing in your mind, and as Cloud and Tifa in the Lifestream we're going to have to try to hold onto those memories of Cloud as a child, while trying to figure out what really happened to the events Sephiroth changed so we can know what he was afraid of so we can stop him now that he's literally omnipotent in comparison to us. I kinda developed some of this theory as I wrote it, so it does still need work. I only finished the game a week ago so I'm only just catching up on theories now.

As much as i like this theory Kitase did confirm that the stamp dog is a hint of time distortion or rift a type of what if. For me its just more ways to milk the game with spin offs this time with zack same game but DLC maybe in the future?

Please read my last point. Unless its the closed loop grandfather theory thingy, how can Zack show up to affect certain events from behind the scenes, BEFORE the party challenges and changes destiny at the end of the game. If them defeating the giant whisper was the trigger for keeping Zack alive, he wouldnt have been able to build up his Avalanche group, or have Finn tag Stamp at certain areas, or save Biggs and Wedge. I do understand your loop theory but something just seems off. Ofc theories like this are very hard to grasp. Another point to think about is the vision of Zack and Cloud at the end coming back to Midgar, where Zack sees the whispers enshrouding Midgar, is not the same point of time when they arrive to Midgar in the OG.

Do you think the cloud we play as in remake has the memories of Zack dying and giving up his sword? Meanwhile the actual past of FF7R had Zack dragging cloud to midgard and dropping him off at the train station? Perhaps even getting word to Tifa before going to ground in the hopes shinra will assume he died. In which case, cloud's psychosis, is not only linked to the soldier persona he has built up but also having memories from these two contridicting "cycles" overlapping in his mind.

Zack could've been very much alive in the current game "timeline" or cycle but he was given a task (a FOCUS haha XIII) but only glimpses of the events that are supposed to happen similar to aeriths. The different stamp logo/dog breed could have been Zacks doing. Zack wasn't allowed to interact with the crew directly due to the ghosts and has to work behind the scenes. Him being alive is already a huge alteration to the original flow of events. With the three arbiter enemies, there had to be three equivalent arbiters as well on the planet's(livestream) side and that would be Aerith, Rufus, and Zack I'm guessing.

The reason why people say the three bosses are future cloud, barrett and that is be use when u scan them in battle that's what it describes them to be... but it could be a ploy to confuse you never know lol. I'm open minded. By the way I love the theories and agree on most of you points.

It may or may not be important, but for some reason the 4 stars on Stamps hat, symbolizes something. Idk what it would be though. I know the lore of FF7 is widely based from the Kabbalah, maybe Kabbalah mysticism and the number 4 could give some light into the endings mystery.
