I personally don’t buy the few years of support and campaigns from fans wanting this cut of the movie because from my understanding,the higher ups at WB don’t really give a shit about zack and did a lot to fuck him around and still is. They did the same with David Ayer,it’s like why even choose these directors if your gonna take all that they did,not give them creative control ,chop up their work into a mess and get confused as to why people didn’t like the movie in the first place. I feel like there’s a lot more to the story of how the Snyder cut came to be especially with the higher ups cause I can’t imagine how all the bs behind the scenes went down that they just randomly decided to do this once and just be rid of Zack for good

In the UK we got two 4k discs not stacked we didn’t get the bluray and we never get digital codes.

Yeah. Stacked discs are no fun, worth buying a different 4K case for that. But yeah...the film is almost structured like a mini-series anyway...so it being on two discs in some ways only adds to that experience. Like watching any TV series that is on Blu Ray..each disc only has so many episodes.

The U.K. version isn’t stacked it just doesn’t have the Blu-Rays only the 4K discs.

I agree the 4:3 Is perfect for this movie, Zack explained he did it because many shots have upward motion and it captures the comic book slide feeling better. Comics are the opposite of widescreen so I totally get his motive, and it looks wonderful because of it. Also he wanted to show it on IMAX screens which would look beautiful with this ratio. Also they have definitely been shady, my local movie store get one copy on launch and my local BestBuy got zero 4K copies of this and the trilogy. The girl working said she had multiple calls asking for it. And they have the movie trailer as unlisted on WB youtube.

@@Shelboooooo Exactly. Comics are vertical so why shouldn't the movies be 🤷‍♂️ And ya stores were supplied with very few copies and I'm lucky I even got it on Amazon. The trailer is unlisted too which is the weirdest thing ever. I have the link if you or anyone else haven't seen it.

WB has been shady with many things. i think they just got salty that this succeed much better than josstice league.

I personally could not get over the vertical black lines , the movie just looked much smaller to me and kinda killed the whole 4k experience.

I’d say these films were more colourful than Marvel films too. There are blacks, for one, which Marvel films definitely lack. The black level is more dark grey. Everything looks fuzzy and very digitised. I bought Civil War on 4K and the green screen stood out very harshly. Digital cameras make cgi more noticeable don’t they, so the celluloid use on many of the JL films is always appreciated.

@@TheFlash-rh2el thanks! I swear I felt like I was being crazy when comparing the colors in these films with the ones in the MCU. I don't know why, even with the heavily stylized darker image in Snyder's trilogy, the films popped more than some of the brightest MCU ones like Doctor Strange or Thor Ragnarok. Those felt very desaturated, even when boosting more colorful production values. Its incredibly odd.

@@a7000zo The primary colours usually pop out of complete blackness in Snyder’s films. All live action Disney films are shot and coloured the same way. I’d say the tone of the writing is the thing that is concentrated on more, hence why it’s easy for people to think Disney live action films are more colourful. A brain reflex. They “sound” lighter, which means, in your mind, after everything is said and done and you’re processing the viewing in your mind after you’ve seen the picture, it’ll “feel” like lighter fair, visually, compared to what it was.

I just wish they had given us an option for Cinemascope on the physical release. Yeah 4:3 isn't a big deal in IMAX screens but we don't have them lol

then you' d be trimming 20% of the image off. This crap started late80s with the Snow White release. The movie isn' t widescreen in the first place, it's 4:3. All widescreen did was chop all that,art off the top and bottom of the screen

@@toyboy887 Yes, but it's what we're stuck with. Okay so you're getting 20% more info on screen, but you're also getting a smaller screen. We don't have 4:3 tv screens. What the format gives isn't woth the trade for a smaller viewable area.

​@@irish7460 Well its up to you, all tvs would have the option to zoom to fill the screen, thus cutting off the top and bottom (or left and right) of the image to fill your screen. But yes, if Zack has chosen to fill the whole 4:3 area with important content, then you'd be missing that, which is annoying. But think of it this way: he could have released a 16:9 version, without cropping the top and bottom and instead giving you the image to the left and right, but there wouldn't be much point as he clearly wouldn't have any important information there, and it would just take away from the impact he was going for with 4:3. I agree that content that fills the whole TV is ideal, and I certainly wouldn't want every movie to go 4:3, but on the other hand, I don't want film makers to have to compromise their vision over something as silly as "but tvs are this aspect ratio so...". I'm lucky enough to have a big tv now, but when I got my first tv, I went with the smallest size in order to get 1080p just as bluray was coming out. So I very much lamented the 2.4:1 image, but I got used to it and preferred it over a fullscreen zoom. I'm sure their is reason why filmmakers like that aspect ratio that go beyond simple technical things like "it fits better in a cinema" 4:3 is obviously a unique choice for film. So I'm sure there is a very good reason he made it, and I wouldn't want to overrule that. Personally I wish it was shorter because I don't know when the hell I'm going to find 4 contiguous hours in my life to sit down and watch it. Sort of. These things are never that cut and dry (I know from experience) and the situation wouldn’t have had the time nor the money to allow a director to come and change the look and feel of a film to their liking, it doesn’t work this way. Rogue One, for instance, was made in exactly the same way, and that is an Evans film. The director who took over Evans altered some of the writing, but completed the project by way of the original intended vision. Shortly after the director left JL, stories were coming out (with evidence and citations) of the studio firing the director due to the test screenings being negative and using the even as an excuse.

@@TheFlash-rh2el I don’t think the rumors of him being fired was true. What I’ve read was that justice league was going to be lighter because critics kept complaining about the dark realistic tones his last few movies had. Unfortunately with the tragic hit that happened to him and his family,WB used that to bring in Weadon. To me it seems like they thought,they had a sure fire hit on their hands cause they had the guy who did two of the avengers movies(that made a lot of money) coming to do a justice league film and pretty probably told him to do whatever he did for the avengers,do it for this one. They should have left him to the batgirl film because the problem is DC is not marvel and it seems like the people at WB didn’t understand that for the longest. The DCEU is not the MCU and will never be. The thing they should have only copied from the MCU was the structure of how they build up the universe and how they connected films. I like the dark realistic tones of the DCEU, it contrast well with the lighter tones of the MCU and also it’s a break from the MCU.

@@dominicarroyo6269After the first test screening of Batman V Superman, the takeaway was that Snyder was why it worked. After the feedback BVS got, Snyder became the issue. It took one screen test for the execs to move on the vision. No filmmaker, especially Zack Snyder, a man who seems to be almost singlehandedly keeping the auteur theory alive in blockbuster cinema. Based on how execs work, in any industry, and the feedback the film series was getting: Snyder was the problem. The vision went, I.E the identity of the film and the filmmaker. That doesn’t come voluntarily, it’s always forced out. The evidence comes from it happening to other blockbuster film they weren’t happy with: Suicide Squad being a major one. It’s just how they work. They’re happy to use a daughter’s suicide as an excuse. I’m also guessing that Snyder was unaware of this until after he was gone, because the Snyder cut is clearly a case of contractual revenge. He has had his cake and eaten it and will not be doing another WB film again. If he was happy, he’d still be there.

Sound bar? Personally I’ve listened to some good sound bars and spectacular doesn’t come to mind. A Dolby Atmos enabled speaker system 5.1.4 ch properly set up, does sound spectacular, and no offense to those who have living arrangements, such as renting an apt or cannot have home theatre sound levels that would otherwise break a rental lease. Been there done that. Having no one to bitch about concert/movie volume and subwoofer wall shaking bass is a blessing of being a homeowner. I now know and appreciate what I’ve been missing all those early formative years growing into a home theatre of today. Live long and prosper!

@@erikpeh694, late to the party, eh? Where you been? My new system, for me, was put together in 2015/16. So I’m enjoying it fully still. Surround sound with mono rears, remember those days? We’ve all come along way since then I started with the Pioneer VSX-D1S and the CLD 2080 Laser Disc player. Analog transitioned to digital over the many years and with this constantly evolving tech and a new home we thought it was time to upgrade. So what was in my budget, I started reading and researching what was trending. Dolby Atmos was, so that’s where I went. A local theater was showing films in that audio format, and it sounded so good I wanted it in my home. My Elite receiver has more channels then I use and that’s fine for now. So I’ll enjoy those Atmos enabled speakers as is.

I caught that too, and also learned the proper terminology of the “pillar box”, all from reading the comments. Having watched Laser Discs mostly letterboxed, I got used to the black bars and when comparing pan & scan it’s quite startling the amount of cropping and how certain wide scenes make no visual sense when you watch the P & S version. The director’s ultimately make that decision on how they want their film work done, artistic license. I have a preference for seeing movies fill up the entire 65” of my screen, but accept not all will be that way, IMAX scenes are eye grabbing and going in and out of aspect ratios can be noticeable. It is what it is.

Indeed, people made cracks about Snyder saying things like he chose it because superheroes are drawn more vertical, and people of course whipped out the 'lol all humans stand up and are vertical' Clearly Snyder is a huge comic book and graphic novel fan, he can't help but bring up stuff like Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns all the time, and many of his critics are just fans of comic book movies, not actual comics. If you examine visuals and framing, you WILL often seen that superheroes are drawn in comics NOT in wide rectangle, but more in squares...and sometimes even in super narrow, vertical rectangles...portrait style to just capture the heroism and mythic nature of the characters. It is a subtle thing, but going full 4:3 for a superhero movie changes the way shots are composed and framed and the results can be super effective for the intent. Snyder knew what his intent was and what his vision was, and 4:3 was the best ratio for it. Snyder also brings a bit of an anime-esque 'super fight' quality to his superhero fight scenes...and vintage anime like Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z were also created in a 4:3 aspect ratio...so even subliminally, seeing the League battle a being like Steppenwolf in 4:3 just feels evoking of the crazy type of fights you would get in DBZ or other vintage shonen anime.

You must either have a whole room dedicated to storing physical media or you don't but a lot of physical media, that you have the storage space to spare to double the space you're using for a movie.

@@wildbill4496 I don’t have storage space but I just have a few DVD leather cases laying around that I put the Blu-ray’s in. Honestly WB cheapened out on not putting a flip rack in the standard slip cover of the movie but they put one in the steelbook edition

I've known people who had a whole room for media storage, but even if you do that with ever blu a-day that would only double the spase needed and I I assume most people could spare the space.

I want a bit of a "Final Version" of all 3 of his films. I don't know if there are any tweaks or alterations he would make to Man of Steel, but if he has a Director's Cut, I would like to see it. With BvS....I honestly just want a version with a simple title: "Dawn of Justice"...to have a title card IN the film that reads "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Ultimate Edition" just pulls you right out of the experience. Just as the first film is simply "Man of Steel" the 2nd film should be simplified down to just "Dawn of Justice" I would like the Snyder Cut with his ORIGINAL plan of having Green Lantern there WITH John Jones at the end. I would like to have Joker's "We live in a society" line restored back into the film. Give us 100% unfiltered Zack Snyder.
