Zack Snyder's Justice League - Doug Reviews 

it sucks,i still waiting for the George Miller JLA

I thought it was great! I loved Steppenwolf and Darkseid, I loved the the Cyborg backstory and his relationship with his father (and I'm sad that we didn't get a solo Cyborg movie), loved The Flash in the end when he needs to use the Speedforce to save everyone and the fight scenes; my only complaint is that is too long, but with that said, it's 10000x better than the original in 2017.

Spoilers: The Martian Manhunter cameo was the highlight of the film for me, as someone who has been waiting for him to make an appearance on the silver screen for years.

At times, I did. Moreso than some other Snyder stuff, I think. It only took a 4 hour movie.

Remove those god awful slow mo scenes and the borderline creepy woman sniffing Aquaman's sweater.

@@hunchovari The black costume he wore in Reign of the Supermen had no such ability, the regeneration chamber at the Fortress did the work while the costume was literally just a black suit with a silver S on it. And he put his real costume back right after he got his powers back and he beat Cyborg Superman, there was no reason to wear a black costume in this movie at all.

@@extonjonas6820 I took it as, he’s back from the dead, he’s not whole, which is why it took me a second to see why he didn’t go for his usual suit Black is how he feels inside right now, but he still has a job to do, so black will do for now until he adjusts At least that’s how I interpreted it in my mind

Same here! I wasn’t really for or against Batman V Superman or Man of Steel, but like damn this is a big improvement over either of those and especially over the Joss Whedon version. It still has it’s issues similar to his other DC movies but like it’s a big improvement

It comes off as an even bigger "screw you" from the studio to Snyder. The studio cut his stuff, cut out that memorial to autumn, replaced snyder with an (arguably) inferior director to mimic the tone of marvel films, then rearranged what little was left of snyder's work only to butcher the film as a whole and shove it out the door

While I like the design of Steppenwolf, I hate that it’s just another big grey/silver villain. I wish they would’ve gone the new 52 route and made his armor black and red. Would’ve made him stand out a little more from other villains

WW's narration of the Old Gods scene in the Josstice League was way tighter. We didn't need to know that it's "Zeus, and his son Ares." Saying "Even the gods themselves" was a better line.

Which sucks, cause I do like Snyder, and I KNOW he can do DC right when he can (He did Darkseid almost fucking perfectly so far. My god, I loved JL's portayal of the character, and I love Deathstroke. Hell, fuckin Lex Luthor wasn't total dogshit...), but his stuff overall is kinda dumb still. I really missed the hints of Elfman's Batman 1989 score and especially Williams' Superman score in this. I feel like some scenes here needed it.

Yes that Wonder woman, aquaman and Superman finishing move on Steppenwolf was Glorious

Didn't liked it as much as I thought I would. The characters build up of flash Cyborg and Aquaman took too much place in the movie. At the 2nd and 3rd hour I was just wondering where's the action. Its like the story was moving at turtle speed. Didn't liked batman changing his personality, Martian Manhunter introduction. Oh and Jesus batman cowl in the kryptonian ship is just a NO. I thought it was a whedon cut. Nightmare scene was one of the best things of this movie. Flash was great too. Cyborg was great in many ways but in a way leaving flash's story on the side just doesn't make sense to me. Wonder woman was great she did a lot. But the team up work wasn't good. I don't like the recent mcu but hell their team up work is much better. Snyder is better at solo movies then movies with several heroes. I'd rather watch bvs. I know it's contradictory but snyder was able to tell 2 stories in 3 hours while in JL, he wasmaking 4 stories in 4 hours while the plot should be centered not put apart. *THAT'S WHY YOU MAKE SOLO MOVIES* The dialogue isn't great some of them are cringe. And I rarely do. Too much slow mo and song choices are just a NO. I prefer the heroes theme. The only theme I can clearly remember is WW.

@@Dimmary well other then not getting enough what did you think of the fight and action sequences? To me they are next level compared to marvels fighting which is mainly cgi action figures banging into each other with witty dialogue.

@@venicebeachsportsnetwork6677 the thing about the action for me and why I couldnt get into it that much either was the overuse of slow motion and sometimes the CGI wasnt the best, specifically on Cyborg. Felt like in most scenes, slow mo wasnt necessary and made th fight much slower and messier than it needed to be, making a fight scene less interesting and less engaging as a result. The only times I felt slow mo was necessary was all of the flash scenes, Superman scenes, and when they finally killed Steppenwolf.

I was surprised how much Flash stuff WASN'T Whedon's.

I'd always assumed that to be the case. Whedon basically made The Flash/Barry Allen autistic (or at least a neurotypical person's stereotype of a high-functioning autistic). This character was lazily used as the butt of jokes for comic relief. The Snyder cut presents The Flash as a properly developed character who has a major impact on how things are resolved.

Same here, i kept doing it even after i realised it wasn't on my screen....lol

NC didn't even mention how this movie had it's own "Thor arrives at Wakanda" and "Cap lifts Mjolnir". Superman saving the day was EPIC. It was executed so much better than the Whedon version, including his OG Man of Steel theme rocking in the background. I can imagine the theater exploding for that.

Honestly, I would not mind seeing it in theaters when they open up again!

Snyder is (at best) 1/3 on DC movies. I'd rather they move on.

Studio rushed it for sure. It was too early to jump into justice league, I think they should have waited and planned more. Whedon had likely a very thankless job trying to make something at all out of a very bad situation with both fan and studio expectations on top of that.

nearly half the snyder cut could be removed and actually make a better movie, because you'd lose nothing and gain not having pointless repetition.

@@xxTheTruMan196 well there's nearly half an hour of slow-mo to begin with. That Iris scene, holy shit balls is that one of the worst scenes in movie history. Cars randomly exploding after a crash has been mocked to death over the years for how retarded it is, yet Snyder apparently thinks cars run on nitroglycerin. or how about the multiple explanations of how Stepphenwolf finds the Atlantean mother box? The box's call to him and he can teleport to their location. That was all Snyder needed, but then adds a scene of William Defoe talking about people getting kidnapped, then shows a scene of them being kidnapped. So we have a scene of what we were already told, to explain something already explain. The interrogation and the Defoe scene are both bloat to pad the run time. Turning Martha into Martian Man-hunter is pointless and creates many issues, as well as damages the scene of Martha and Louise. remove it. or how about the scenes of people walking up stairs. several minutes of stair walking is totally needed. The arrow to warn WW the amazons fire is 22s in Joss version, it takes over 2 minutes to relay the exact same information. it took Joss 10 seconds to explain Superman's death is what caused the motherbox's to call Steppgenwolf. it takes Snyder more than 6 minutes to get the exact same amount of information. Bloat doesnt begin to describe Snyders movie. The man is the perfect fusion between an edgy 12 year old boy and a pretentious moron who thinks he's a genius.

Everything Joss did is barely 30 seconds. When you have something like that, there’s no heart to it. No character development. No story. Just exposition followed by short and bland action sequences. What’s the point of telling a story if there’s no weight to it; if the audience doesn’t feel anything; if there’s nothing to care about? You have no idea what makes a movie good. The only thing you can think about is that you hate Zack Snyder.

I liked the talk between joker and batman ,flash power and speed is amazing in this movie , wonder woman in snyders justice league makes wonder woman from 1984 look like a fuckin disney princess , 4 hours wasnt enough for me , i want more plz wb give me 8 hours of injustice , i want to remind u all that wb gave zack only 70 million to finish cgi and visiual but i think that the cgi of darkseid , desad and stephenwolf was great, thats why some cgi felt choppy and incomplete, this movie feels good . I liked the tone in this not too light like wonderwoman 1984 it didnt work at all felt like disney movie and not too dark and boring like bvs , this movie has a balanced combination between the two tones .

It made me think Lord of the Rings The Two Towers during the funeral.

The Icelandic women singing was definitely a downside for me. I enjoy the movie, but they really could have tried to cut the singing part down. That felt a little too long for me.

There's a lot that should have been cut, though. The Aquaman singing bit was dumb, as was him drinking on the pier in slow-mo (god this film overdoes the slow-mo, it's cool sometimes but unnecesary in others). The whole bit with Gordon should've been cut. It hurts to say that, since I love J.K. Simmons and Flash is very entertaining there, but that whole bit was completely unnecessary. The scene where Alfred teaches Wonder Woman how to make tea was baffling in its inclusion. The scene where the group scales an almost-comically-small chasm before encountering Steppenwolf was a bit silly. Including Martian Manhunter was a mistake because it makes his as-of-yet unexcused inaction seem kind of infuriating, given that he's about on par with Superman. It also changes a good scene with Ma Kent to reveal it's kinda fake, which was disappointing. The Lex Luthor epilogue and Knightmare epilogue bits should have been cut, since they don't really add to the movie and just tease stuff which probably won't get made. Relatedly, they should have had Joker in the Knightmare be dead and a hallucination by Batman (killed in something like the Injustice storyline), since otherwise Batman has no reason to not kill him - it's not like he has superpowers, and this version really isn't a genious of super connected either. Snyder really overindulged, he could have used a much stricter editor. I know Whedon cut too much, but Snyder corrected too far in the other direction, and clearly no one wanted to tell him "no," quite understandably but still for the worse.

Steppenwolf wrecked the Amazons, Atlantians and 5 members of the League, then got wrecked by a resurrected Superman

That epilogue had me rolling my eyes. The rest of the movie was fine but man, it's hard to take in an unnecessary dialogue from Leto's Joker after such a big ending. It was equivalent to the multiple endings from Lords of the Rings but with bad dialogue and acting.

@@robertpalmer8080 i haven't watched 2017 justice but once when it came out. It wasn't great imo. Now WW84 on the other hand it possibly the worst DC film. I think Justice League has enjoyable parts and it can be fun. But WW84 is objectively bad.

I agree. The studio wanted him to cut this movie to half the runtime and also rewrite to make it lighter in tone. It was a mess. But no movie of those proportions is done by one guy all by his lonesome.

Luckily for snyder this is what most people are saying, let's just hope army of the dead is another winner

Flash maybe, Cyborg is better than the theatrical version but I feel they still did him dirty. Foe one, killing off Silas was a mistake, since he's a character who is so important to Cyborg (and is also a bit of a rehash of unnecessarilly killing off Pa Kent in Man of Steel). I feel they could have easily found Steppenwolf's giant, red, glowing base without Silas' sacrifice, though Silas didn't know that. It's a shame there won't likely be a Cyborg movie with Ray Fisher, but if there was it would be a mistake not to have Silas in it as more than Snyder's signature dead dad monologues.

The whole Knightmare sequence was a waste of time. It had absolutely nothing to do with the plot of this movie except to tease people with a sequel and backstories that we know will never come.

@@RedHeadKevin It was added because Zack thinks Ben and Jared are done in the roles and he thought it was criminal that they never had a scene together. It quite literally was tacked on (It was the only scene added last year. Everything else was in his OG 2016 cut) for fan service.

It might seem pointless now but JL was supposed to be a 3 part movie which that nightmare scene teased what was going to actually happen in one of the movie's that we may never see now so it wasn't that pointless. Pointless to you but not to the story that was planned.

I think similarly. I think it's more chill than BvS, if that makes sense and I think is less bonkers with it's plot, which is funny, considering this movie has Darksied, parademons, a giant human shaped bull covered in spikes, 3 techno energy boxes and all that.

Never saw MOS, but BvS Ultimate Edition really worked for me.

Clearly you don't get Martian Manhunter then. He wasn't shoehorned it, besides the fact it wasn't meant to be some Snyderverse of 22 films...The plan was a 5 movie arch that told 1 story that ties together....Martian Manhunter came to earth and hid, he had no desire to get involved until the Justice League showed him that he needed to get involve that IF he wanted to stay on earth it was time that people knew who he was....

He kinda was. In 2016 when they shot the film, it was supposed to be John Stewart who showed up at the end with Bruce. But when polishing up the film in 2020 WB didn’t let Snyder shoot a pickup for John Stewart, so as a compromise he used Martian Manhunter instead.

IMO, the 2001 animated series will always be the best iteration of Justice League (especially Unlimited).

@@BaithNa they set up a lot of great things for a part 2 if zack wants to come back and WB Gives him full control like this one hell put it on HBO Max as a Max original (even tho i would love to see it on the big screen) and let the snyderverse finish up completely then dc can go and do one off stories like joker and the batman but let Synder finish his Snyderverse with 4 movies (man of steel, BVS, Justice League, and Justice League Part 2)

Haha same man. First time was immediately when it came out (7am UK time) and then again at night with my brother. BvS UE was my favourite before this, but Snydercut has definitely beaten it. A large contributing factor is the emotional connection to the behind the scenes story, and how the fans banded together to make his vision a reality

Yeha they call it a snyder cut but this is not what would have ever made it to theaters. However, I think that would have been better, this movie has some fat that needs to be trimmed

That is the thing with director's cuts. It is likely going to be better because nobody edited stuff out, but....the issue is that nobody edited stuff out.

And second... do you really think that those poor icelandic villagers would know about the existence of Batman? Like... he only operates in Gotham, and not even Clark knew about him during BvS, not until he went directly to Gotham to investigate.
