White Teeth was the debut novel of the British author, Zadie Smith, published in the year 2000. It quickly won a number of major awards, including the Guardian First Novel Award, and in 2005, Time magazine declared it one of the hundred best English-language novels since 1923. Nearly a quarter of a century after its first appearance, it continues to garner plaudits. Astonishingly, Smith completed it in her final year at university, when she was just 23.
