A funny story from the venue - I was the guy communicating with the organist, and during game 4 of the first set of grands, I realized I had to go up and explain to the organist how a double elimination grand finals works so he wouldn't accidentally play the victory music for Zain in between their two sets. He said it was one of the most interesting gigs he's ever gotten to do, and he got really in to watching top 8!
@@melikmourali2072 if he hit the reverse fair (which he does consistently!), then yeah definitely game over. If he misses the reverse hitbox, zain probably (but not definitely) lives
He's a super cool guy. Met him at Big House in October, he just walked up to me and started talking to me randomly. Took me by surprise lmao but yeah he's super down to earth and just seems genuinely respectful. Def earned me as a fan haha
I took a 3 months break from watching melee to focus on my business and I come back to this set, and WHAT A GAME. Legit feels like the guys are living on a different planet of reactions, it's like watching Dragon Ball on a final Ep; just insane.
I hope these two are representing the game for a long time, 2 sick players that don't complain and look as good out of game as they do in game if you know what I'm sayin
In melee, whenever you’re hit with a move that deals knockback, your character faces the direction you were hit from. In this case, shiek’s crouch extends far enough to where Marth’s up-b actually hits the back part of her hurtbox. That makes shiek face left/towards stage. The knockback of the move + asdi down allows shiek to slide off stage. Facing the stage + slide off means shiek is then able to grab ledge fast as a marth-killer-esque technique
These people are lying, pros in melee play with a special version of melee with modified input possibilities. This was implemented for instance in 2007 when they added DI and in 2015 when they added asdi down. This explains why when you try to wavedash out of shield it takes you 40 frames but when mango does it he 0-to-deathes Plup with no frames to spare. Don't try to copy Jmook at home, or try to get a recent version of melee. I've heard you have to enter special codes with your controller on the home menu to get all the cool stuff to unlock, so that people like you and me can never progress even if we accidentally came accross a good version of melee . This is all speculation btw, nobody can tell you for sure except the people who make a living off of melee. It's the sad way the melee economy works, you just need fodders like us to go 2-2 at the locals. Think of it as a pyramid.
It's deffinitly for sure the one matchup Marth loses 60-40. It really is the way marth combos other characters sheik combos him. And he just combos her less so Marth has to play very safe so they can get that grab
Zains up b hit Sheik on her left side turning her around and enabling her to grab ledge. So Jmook was holding down with the control stick and maybe right with the c stick to get the slide off.
im not good at melee, so im curious, what would've happened if at 15:36 zain had daired? could jmook just have wall teched it and reversed or what? it seems like he coulda gotten the spike but hes at 0% so idk
I miss the days where they would fill in the rest of the video with a black screen and a random timeframe. Also, let’s get more people saying things like, “Zain could’ve won, but ultimately Jmook just made it happen through consistency.”
@@hellsk100 he has the vaccine, right? He wears masks, so showing up wasn't the issue. Playing melee at a high level sick is the problem. I get the reasoning to rest.
Gimping is getting an early stock so percent matters. 200% is just an edgeguard or a kill confirm. Gimping is below 50% in my opinion and usually with a move that spikes or semi-spikes really
i feel like zains marth just looks unreal. its hella stylish. cody's fox isnt as fun to watch since its just a highly optimized efficient playstyle (imo). but i absolutely love watching zain play and im a fox main lmfao@@zachsteiner
Jmook is so incredibly sick. Sheik is almost certainly a C/D tier character in reality (hard losing matchups against Fox, Falco, Marth, Yoshi, ICs, Samus, etc.) so pushing her as hard as he has is extremely impressive.
