Your opening statement about the pandemic rings so true with me: the exact thing happened to me. I have been on a journey to decolonize my mind ~ a journey which began in earnest in 2017 and which became more spiritually focused when the pandemic hit two years ago. UNomkhubulwane is a rain Goddess , we have a ritual we do before or just after the plantation of maize to ask for rain. It ls popular in the rural KZN and it works like a charm. I think when they said isililo sikaNomkhubulwane they meant the rain Goddess is angry hence killing and damaging the land via the rain.

Respect to brother Zamalek Giza. We do however have to dispel this myth/idea that the term Afrika is a colonial term originating with European colonization. The term itself appears in the mdw ntr (hieroglyphs), for a loose translation it's as follows, Af (flesh), Ra (sun), Ka (Spirit) meaning "Body and Soul of the Sun," or Afu (House), Ra (Sun/Light), Ka (spirit/soul) meaning "House of the Enlightened Soul." or "afru-ika" which means motherland. This idea is a result of the roman conquest namely by Scipio Africanus, it was customary for the Romans to take the name of the place or people they conquered (as a suffix), hence scipio africanus means conqueror of africa, (this already tells us that the term was already present), this was the region in North Africa, primarily Tunisia, Algeria and parts of Libya inhabited by the Afrie ethnic nation, this region later became known as Carthage. The word Afrie has the same meaning as umuntu or abantu in its english rendition meaning hueman, it can also mean earth. The family from this ethnic nation still exists today, and this word is celebrated in Tunisia still today. Ka was also a Latin acronym for land, hence land of the afar/afra/Afir/Afri (Afraka/Afarka) Furthermore, you have the people called the Afar (also rendered as Afir/Afri/Afar/Afra) who inhabited North Africa, most are concentrated in the modern nation of Ethiopia today. The Greeks themselves in their mispronouncement of Afar/Afra as Afro is where the name of their deity Afrodite comes from, and where we get the term Afro today.
