Zambia’s Former First Lady Arrested Over Properties Worth Over $2 Million | Firstpost Africa
Zambia’s former first lady Esther Lungu and one of her daughters have been arrested over their ownership of several properties worth more than $2 million that a law enforcement agency says are suspected to be proceeds of crime. Another of Lungu's daughters, Tasila, is facing separate but related charges. The former president Edgar Lungu has said that they will challenge the new charges in court. The former leader says that these arrests are politically motivated. Last month, Edgar Lungu claimed that he was put under house arrest over his increased political activities after he announced his comeback to politics in October last year.
