The drum sander only takes off a tiny amount at a time and is not really its intended use for this situation. A thicknesser would be the better option. I like hand planes but also a scrub plane would of been a better option. So yeah, not having either of the tools more suited for this particular job I just used whatever was available. The workshop that im at is setup more for acoustic guitars rather than electrics. hope that helps
