Francisco and Laura Bautista create hand dyed tapestries at their studio in Sandy, Oregon.
They draw upon generations of Zapotec weaving tradition from their hometown of Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca in Mexico, an area world renowned for its weaving.
Now the Bautista’s 16-year-old daughter Cinthya and 12-year-old son David are quickly becoming master weavers themselves, each working on their own looms.

We purchased a piece from this incredible family at the Salem Art Fair several years ago. I was drawn into their booth by the incredible beauty and uniqueness of their work. And when we began visiting with Francisco, we were transported into a story of their history, art and values. Having one of their pieces hanging in your home is a blessing.

It's so wonderful to see this family continue their weaving traditions so far from where they come from. As a fellow weaver, kudos!

Wonderful video, family and business! Weaving with body, heart and soul ... I have an old picture of my great grandmother wearing a zig zag dress and I was trying to find similar designs to identify our origins when I came across your video. So heartfelt, thank you!
