Hey guys, just wanted to give an update on this issue. I bought some of Zastava’s Steel M85 mags, and this gun runs perfect. I really think it is just the gen 3 Z mags that’s the issue.
I use AC Unity, Beryl and M85 mags. No problems with any of them. The AC Unity mags were $11 from PSA. The Beryl mags were $30 from AOA. The M85 mags were $40 from Zastava. The polymer Zastava mags are hit and miss regardless of which gen they are. The WBP mags are supposed to be made to the same dimensions as the Beryl mags. They use a different polymer and are cheaper. I haven't bought any so I can't say if they work or not.
I bought some of the WBP mags. They work great with the m90 (no malfunctions), but they feel cheap as hell. I don’t think they’ll be long term durable, as they are all plastic construction. They plastic is a bit.
Really appreciate you putting this video together. I went to the range 3 days ago and this EXACT same issue happened to me. Out of 4 magazines, two were affected. ( I know it was not the ammo because one magazine had 5.56 green tip and the other 223.) Thanks again!
Certainly, I only made it because I couldn’t find others on this topic. I discovered that it really is those plastic mags. I was able to get rid of the malfunctions with their steel m85 mags.
I have a M90 also and the mag that came with my gun also did the same thing. The bolt pushes the round out of the mag but instead of feeding correctly it just lodges itself into an open space not loading correctly. The one steel M85 mag I bought had no issues whats so ever. So I started to play around with the polymer mag by loading it and just pushing the rounds out by hand to simulate feeding. I found that once a round came out about 3/4 of the way, it wound swing left for no reason. As I was pushing more rounds out of the mag that would only occur with the ones on the right side of the mag. So I figured it had something to do with the shape of the mags at the top. I got some sand paper and just started going over the right side slowly, over and over again until the rounds started to just push out forward with out any sort of kick out to the left. Sanding that one side down a little help the mag to feed correctly and now it works just fine.
Live in California and my m90 wasn't Abel to be shipped with the magazine. Tried using my WBP magazines, and it was a pain in the ass. I had heard that the AC magazine works perfectly without any issues and plus they have ten round magazines! I brought five of them and can't wait to use them at the range.
@@ericsanford7075 - Pretty sure I can't buy or get shipped anything that is over 10rds. Unless I wanted to get arrested and let Uncle Sam take my guns. I did some shaving off of the WBP magazines and now they fit my m90 nicely.
I bought a couple of M85 steel mags and had to take them to the milling machine to modify them. After carefully looking at how they snap in, I saw a place where the rifle was not allowing the magazine to insert properly. After some careful milling success! Do not modify the rifle as it will devalue the rifle. I will post the vid. Good vid!
Zastava should just provide AC unity mags with this gun. I prefer the AC unity mags I bought over the z-mag that came with the gun. The AC unity mags have all of the features the z-mag has plus a bullet window all at a lower price than the z-mag. You can pick up an AC unity 556 black window mag for 14 USD on Robert RTG while the zmag is more than 20 with less features and less durability in my opinion.
AC unity mags are good, as related, but my new favorites are new production Bulgarian 5.54 x 39 mags with 5.56mm followers. The mags are high-quality steel-reinforced polymer that fit beautifully and with the 5.556mm followers run 100% reliably.
I had issues with one of mine. I took it apart. Stretched out the spring and put it back together and it has worked flawlessly since. Not sure what it did. But it seems it did something:
should rather contact Magpul - when will they come out with a 556 for the M90.... that would solve it quicker and we get the reliability and strength of magpul mags.... i don't trust none of the ohter ... only reason i am holding off buying the M90....
I know man, I probably should have just got a 7.62. I just didn’t want to have to stick pile multiple rifle rounds. The only rifles I have are an FN AR and this AK. But I actually got some of their older style magazines, and I haven’t had a malfunction since. They are called m85 mags I believe. Super solid steel mags, and they work amazing.
bc easy to get 223/556 rounds in US... c imports stoppag 7.62 aND 5.45 are getting as expensive as 223/556 brass cased.... its smart to get 556 AKs - u get Ak like tanks and shooting American caliber.
