In the books, Jumanji and Zathura were actually the same game. One side of the board was jungle themed and the other side was space themed. Jumanji and Zathura happened on the same day. The kids from Jumanji threw the game into a trash can in Central Park and the kids from Zathura found it that same day.
In the Jumanji movie Universe Zathura happened between the events of Jumanji and Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle as it happened in 2005 whilst the events of the first two Jumanji movies spanned from the 1860’s to 2016

To be honest, if the game were to actually send you to space I would play it. It's always been a dream of mine, ever since I was a little kid. Got nothing better to do.
Lol i remembered when i watched the movie as a kid ( i was about 5 years old ) and then my brother bought this board game. I thought the board game WAS the board game they used in the movie and I kept thinking that I was going to space!! Unfortunately, I lost the board game but this video brings back SO many memories!

aww men, but, why they wont include those cards? i mean the only one that will not make sense in the actual game is the shooting star, the other ones seems ok
Most of the cards you said actually do appear in the board game. Either as actual cards, but they can also appear as tokens (like the Astronaut card), or spaces on the board (like the Shooting Star). The Time Warp appears as a normal card. There is no "caught cheating" card. Instead of "shipmate enters cryogenic sleep", there is a card that says "You enter cryogenic sleep" and you lose a turn when you get that card. There are LOTS of robot cards that say it is either defective, broken or is glitching, etc. There are no shooting star cards, sadly, but there are shooting star spaces on the board that send you in front of the rest of the players. The astronaut, like I said before, appears as a Save Token. There's a meteor shower and a meteor belt cards that tell you certain commands, but unfortunately, they don't tell you to Take Evasive Action. No game over card. And there are many promotion cards, too. I just got the board game delivered to me today and I've explored it a lot XD.
I noticed that the giant Z whenever they make it to zathura it spins and sparks and all of a sudden it opens up, revealing a black hole inside so it’s basically just a spinning firework top that you would see in various firework shops
But on this one in real life, it just spins manually using your hand, but it doesn’t actually open up to reveal a black hole picture and doesn’t do firework effects which is good because if it did, it’ll be a fire hazard. I wish that the movement in the game is actually motorized instead of you having to move the pieces manually like in the game I’m pretty sure people could achieve this making this in real life using motorized gears, wind up motor and of course a chain and pully system

I think that the piece you say is for the discard pile is actually a weight you put on top of the cards in the dispenser. I may not be right, haven't played this game in years
The discard pile plastic square is actually a card weight USED IN THE CARD CONSOLE ON TOP OD THE CARDS, to allow the cards to come out easier. Check the directions.
Wait a minute.... What about the SHOOTING STAR Make A Wish Gold cards? should there be like 2 or 4 at least 1 for each amount of player... that would be FAIR!!
I really enjoy both the original Jumanji" movie and the 2005 "Zathura: A Space Adventure" movie too! The Zorgons remind me of another hostile lizard like alien race called the Gorn who appeared in "Star Trek: The Original Series" and also in "Star Trek: Enterprise!" The purple discard piece goes on top of cards in the card machine. So after you put cards in machine put that piece on top flat side down before closing lid.
I still have this board game!! It was a lot of fun playing it. I wish they brought back Zathura again hopefully in the future cuz I prefer this over Jumanji.
When I first saw this movie,I thought the game didn't exist,than yesterday I was with my mom at goodwill and I saw this,so when I opened it there were the two pieces that goes up and I thought it needed more parts,so than a few hours later I look up a review so I find this and than see the two pieces that I thought needed more,so I felt like a fucking idiot
yes thats true,but no one stopped anybody who never watched the movie (maybe even plan on watching it after the trailer) what im trying to say is to be a bit more cautious
