1. He made a loop in “3 minutes”. He has yet to arrange it, do fills, basic mixing etc. 2. It was longer than 3 minutes. The video itself is a little over three minutes long and it was chopped. It didn’t even show the initial drum programming. I still think Zaytoven is a super dope producer, but let’s not spread fake news... lol

Wouldn't be a zay beat without that breath then doubled up half way through the pattern. Seems like he does that same exact thing on a lot of beats. I see a lot of people that don't know a thing about making beats say things like "you do the same exact thing with your claps, snares and percussion elements in almost every beat". Well duh... Those things only work so many different ways in different styles of rap beats. When it comes to drums, just about every type of pattern that works has already been done. Sure you can occasionally break the rules and it'll sound ok. But those occasions are few and far in between. Outside of the way the specific drums sound (sound design) almost everything has been done in regards to drums. What differentiates one producer from the next is the groove you put on it, not so much the drum patterns themselves. You'd be amazed at how much some simple micro time shifting of the hits can change up a beat. In short, it's almost impossible to create a drum pattern that hasn't already been done hundreds, if not thousands of times. What makes them different is the sounds used and the amount of groove and swing created by micro time shifting, (or not quantizing at all if you're good like that). Another thing I see a lot of people (even beat makers) bashing beat makers for is not creating their own melodies and using samples and loops. Well, hip hop started as a sample based type of music and to bash producers who use loops and samples is a disgrace to the founders. On the other side of the coin, the older generation needs to stop bashing the younger generation for the type of music they make and like. Didn't you hate it when the older generation of musicians bashed you for the type of music you made and the equipment you used to make it? Exactly! Let's all work together and build each other up, not tear each other down. Musical taste is subjective. There is no objective good or bad. The fans decide what they like, and if they like something, what's they sense of bashing the people feeding them what they want?
