I paid $300 for a much smaller, simpler, cheapy slider and barely every use it. This looks much better. Digging the video style also

Thanks Brendan! I appreciate you checking out the vid! Real talk, I was impressed by the build quality given the price! It’s not exactly cheap but considering the alternatives I think it punches above its weight class!

Thats a cool idea! Do you find that the height of the gimbal introduces some unwanted shake in the footage?
@martinr2962
@martinr2962 10 месяцев назад
@@TroyMairs It works quite fine, as long as it is well-balanced although I wished the ramping could be set manually just as Edelkrone allows you to. But together with the face tracking you can get nice dynamic perspectives even while doing a live broadcast.

Ive been looking for Pros/Con review on this product for a while now. Good Job. The price point really has my attention, looking for a motorized slider for a small studio interview multi-camera setup.

Thanks for checking out the video! Hopefully it helps you make your decision, this one seems to be a pretty solid design and I'm using it regularly in my studio.

abree with everything you said except simplicity, with the entire pons PT set its a hell of a puzzle to piece together. And I literally don’t know how to attach the camera to the annoying pin the constantly gets pushed inside of the slider, or to the big round plates with pins that don’t fit in my a7 iv. And don’t get me started on the horrible app …

I just bought this along with the pan and tilt heads and came to the same conclusion with the pros and cons you listed. The other con I would say is the iPhone app is very buggy (1.6 stars). I'm constantly having to close out the app even with the firmware updates. I would say if anyone plans to use the app do your research first. This might be an issue for you if you plan to use some of the app functionality with the added heads. Has anyone else experienced app issues?
@TroyMairs
@TroyMairs 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing your experience! I'l agree that the app is far from perfect. For me, the app works fine while I have it open and am actively using it, but if I lock my phone or set it down for some time, it usually disconnects. And that can frustrating. I try to just use physical controls when I can!
@paulalanis
@paulalanis 11 месяцев назад
@@TroyMairs thanks for getting back! I’ll probably end up using the physical controls 90% of the time. If they could get the app updated I really think this thing could be solid especially for the price point.

Thanks for the pros and cons. Would have liked to see more of the extended features with the app. How much adjustment is there on the legs if you have a slightly uneven surface? Someone asked about motor noise, could it be used in an interview situation for the 2nd camera?
@TroyMairs
@TroyMairs 11 месяцев назад
You're welcome! Thanks for checking out the vid! I don't have an "official" measurement on the adjustment there is on the legs, but realistically you've got about 1/2" to work with for uneven ground. (Not much, but enough for most cases in my experience) As far as motor noise goes, it will depend on the speed your want your B-cam to move at. I usually have my B-Cam moving relatively slow (10-20%) and at that speed the noise is almost nonexistent. If you're up to 80% and above you'll start to introduce noise that COULD be problematic, but also is easily removed in post. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hey Troy, I'm wondering if it has a lot of jitter as many other motorized sliders do... (Do you need to apply post-stabilization?) Did you manage to upload some sample footage yet? It would be great to see how it performs in a interview setup! Greetings!
@TroyMairs
@TroyMairs 11 месяцев назад
I will say that it is not immune to the micro jitters that we deal with on a lot of motorized sliders. Keeping the weight of your rig down always seems to help with that! Height as well! Tall rigs with monitors or using tall fluid heads creates more opportunity for microjitters

Love the format of you vids, just subbed. Maybe I’m overlooking it, but didn’t see any content of the slider in use // thoughts on performance - future vid or something? Your Pros and Cons lists are great, what’s your take on the actual output of this slider? Thx!

Dude, I totally forgot that segment of the video! (Lol some review that turned out to be!) I just realized it a few days ago, I'm going to try and upload a few and leave a link in the description. Until then, I think the output is great! I had a 85mm on it the other day and even that stabilized really well on a desktop!

Did you try it vertically? Did it jitter/stutter? Will you review the motorized head? I have a Canon C70 and I'm looking for a slider capable of vertical movement (pure 90°) with a motorized head attached. The Edelkrone seems not reliable. This one could be the one I'm looking for. Your opinion would be helpful. Thank you.
@TroyMairs
@TroyMairs Год назад
I haven’t run it at a complete 90 yet, but the angles I have run it on seem pretty smooth so long as you’re keeping you C70 stripped down in weight. I’d you used a BPA-30 battery and a lighter prime lens I’d wager you could pull off a vertical slide. I don’t have the motorized head yet but I’ll definitely review it when I have it! Thanks for checking out the video!

Hey Troy! Another great video! How would you grade the performance of this slider? How loud is the motor?
@TroyMairs
@TroyMairs Год назад
Thank you much Matthew! Operating from a stable platform like a table or the ground, I’d give it a solid 7/10. Certainly a passing grade, but maybe won’t blow you away!

Thanks for the great video. As someone who is buying a slider for the first time, would you say that the 4th axis where the zoom ring is rotated is necessary (In your professional experience)? This seems to be an incredible value for the price compared to something like the Rhino slider but is missing a zoom ring control that the Rhino has.
@TroyMairs
@TroyMairs 10 месяцев назад
That's a great question! I would actually use a lens control motor more for focus than for zoom personally. As such, it would be really nice to have that control built in to be able to do precise focus racks while the camera is in motion. There are always creative ways around a limitation like that, and sometimes simple is better than complex! So in my opinion, buy the slider that you know you can afford and make your money back on:) The Rhino will likely be of better quality, but the Axis is punching pretty hard here!

Hi. I am recording real estate videos. I am changing the tripod height for every room and situation. And also when we use the pan head is it efficieny because I don't want to use the phone. I am going between zeapon or I footage micro slider nano ? That I know I footage you don't need use phone. Do you have some suggest? Thanks for great video.
@TroyMairs
@TroyMairs 11 месяцев назад
I haven't found a great way to adjust the height of any slider system really. In my studio I have two rolling C-stands that I mount my slider to. That has been the most efficient way I have found to adjust height while maintaining stability. Unfortunately, that may not be very feasible shooting on location given the weight/size. As far as operation goes without a phone, I almost never use the mobile app with the Zeapon and I do everything manually with the physical controls. I have not used the iFootage slider so I can't speak to whether or not it is better. Thanks for checking out the vid! :)
