ZEBRA HAWORTHIA PROPAGATION - How to propagate The Zebra Haworthia pups

Zebra Haworthia plants send out pups along the base. This is a great way to propagate your plant. In this case, the haworthia has pushed pups right out of the center of the plant, in the foliage! let's do this together!
I found that the easiest way to get the pups off of the mother plant is simply to gently but firmly wiggle the pup, holding it as far down the pup as you can. The pup should come off fairly easily.
Then you can pot them up in some well draining soil with some support if needed.
Make sure to wait at least three days before you water the pup. It's important to allow the wound to callus before introducing water.
OR
You can leave the pups out for at least three days to callus in the open air and then pot them up.
Then start regular watering. (water only when soil is completely dry.)
Let it root!
You will know it's well rooted when you wiggle the pup and it feels solid in the soil.
TIP
Use sticks or small rocks to help prop the pup up until it sets down roots.

This is exactly what I needed as my brand new haworthia came with two pups growing from near the centre. I'll now attempt to remove and propagate them! Thanks so much for the clear explanation.

My manager gifted me a haworthia last summer, and I've managed to keep it growing until now, despite me being very inexperienced with plants. I've been thinking it's getting big for its pot, but I was nervous to try propagating. Your video really helped walk me through the process and give me the confidence to give it a go. 😊 Thanks for the great video!

I’m so glad I found this video. My partner got me a little zebra boi for my first plant and for months it wasn’t changing or producing little pups. Then this morning I tripped while moving him from water and found out that THE PLANT HAD NO ROOTS WHATSOEVER I’m using the full plant as a base and just propagating it so that it has some root Hopefully I’ll get a tiny zebra pup soon

I needed this so much! I've been having a plant from my mom and it has recently sprouted from the top and looked like a baby plant but it took forever to even find out what kind of plant it was. Now I now how to make more! And I'm glad cause I didn't know not to water them right away! Wish I could post a pic.

How big do the little pups have to be to survive? I see one of yours was pretty small, did it do well? I ask because my zebra plant has 5 small pups, and I'd love to try this but I'm not sure if I should wait or not. Also, is this time of year okay? Thanks!

It can be quite tiny. Smallest of mine is about 2cm, as long as you have patience to let the wound dry and do not overwater once it's planted (which I am often guilty of).

Thanks for this video! What are the general light/water requirements for this plant? I have some that's not doing too well. I tried propagating some of the little offshoots, but I put them in wet soil, so now I know what I did wrong there. But the main plant doesn't seem to be growing, so I'd love any advice you can share!

Hi Madeline! I'm actually going be releasing the care video for this plant very soon. Next Wednesday at the latest. But basically, they want bright indirect light rather than full sun like most succulents. (North window is perfect!). And they like to be watered only when the soil is completely dried out, otherwise they can get root rot.
@madeline-mimi-knick9814
@madeline-mimi-knick9814 3 года назад
@@mindtheleaves9914 Thanks for the info! They're in a north-facing window right now, so I'm probably over-watering. I'll keep a lookout for the video!

I have one of these that has spit into two plants but share the same pot. Anyway they flower from both of them. Unfortunately my daughter broke one of the flowers off however the other one has a nice big group of what looks like a miniature plant midway up the stem. All the flowers or seed pods have shriveled up and the stem is receding. Anyway my question which I haven't been able of find anything online about propagating a new plant from this plant like flower. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how would I go about doing so.
