Another neat way of propagating haworthia is using the root. Chop off a fat root, stick it in a pot and you'll get an offset

Heads up the plant cut off at about 5:30 is actually an aloe. Aloe Aristata I think. The way to tell is aloe have teeth/spikes that go mainly along the edges of the leaf, haworthia have ridges that go all or part of the way around the leaf but aren't spiky.

I managed to get a single window haworthia leaf to grow babies.. I let the leaf base heal over for a day before leaving on top of damp soil. I left it too wet though and the whole thing rotted after a while. They are cool plants. Your method allows for a stronger plant. Thanks.

I brought a spilled cooperii and because I had No Idea about succulents I thought that it would need die if I didn’t soak it to rehydrate it. The roots all went really soggy and no matter what I did, the bare stem rotted. I removed leaves and put it back in soil. This happened until I had 28 leaves but no plant. I just left them in a dry saucer in my utility and forgot about them in disgust. Next time I happened to look babies appeared at the base of EVERY leaf! So if you’re patient…you can have lots and lots and lots of babies!

I propagated the window one by suspending it over a glass of water but not in it using saran wrap on the glass then poke a hole in the saran and stick a single leaf segment in the hole but don't let it touch the water at all. it will take a bit of time but it will root eventually. I then planted it and was sure not to overwater it. during the next growth spurt, it will send out pups and take off.

I beheaded my haworthia attenuata plants successfully and the mother plants had explosive baby production afterwards, too! Also, I'm experimenting with my haworthia window plants with leaf propagation; I set out 2 leaves to dry and just left them. About a month later they had roots about 2mm long, so I planted them. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Very interesting video. My plant just don’t grow like that though. I’ve had one for a year and it has grown about 3 times bigger since I brought it home. It’s very pretty, but it’s one plant, no babies or anything like that. However, when watering or checking the dirt, the leaves will snap off so easily, I have to be so careful. What am I doing wrong? So, I wondered if I could propagate from the leaves that do pop off, and I come across your video. Also, I have one round brown spot on one leaf of my plant. I wondered if this could be sunburn? It sits in front of a window. Thanks.

@AngelsGrove
@AngelsGrove 4 года назад
ClaireS claires your English is amazing! There will not be roots for several weeks. Stick the root end of the succulent in the dirt and water a little once a week. At first your succulent might look worse while it is growing roots, but then it should start looking better again. If you would like to check on the roots, you can gently remove the succulent from the pot and look. I would wait to look for roots because you don’t want to break them. Don’t forget to water a few days before you cut them off. This will help their roots grow faster. If you are worried about watering, don’t water for a few weeks. The succulent will be just fine 😊 good luck!

Emilymaclean MacLean oh yay! Mine are not stretching. They all look great! I sometimes forget to turn it off so some of them are a little pink haha but that’s my own fault not the lights. I just need to reprogram my timer and I think we will be cooking.

Do you have to pull the whole leaf off or cut it?

Ruby Cornista I would say within a few weeks you should see some significant growth. It won’t be a whole new plant or be completely established, but it should have something visible you can see as progress within a month 😊
