Had so many cardinal sins for a game of this type: -Tediously fortified enemies -Getting kicked into lava pits with enemy cheap-shots -Losing xp points when getting hit by certain enemies. Are you kidding? -Having to traverse the whole map upon startup to get where you were before -Extra lives not returning after save, but dying the only way to save. What? -Not enough powerup levels -Too short of a game even though that's kind of a plus... -Not much selection on weapons and specials Its just so bad. How could you go from the first game to this?

i used to play this as a boy, then on an emulator in iraq during down time there. this game reminds me of the middle east. especially the villagers in the game and the greco-roman palaces that sort of remind me of an ancient byzantine empire monastary i seen in northern iraq. this game is ALL hajjed out..... 😀👳‍♂️👳‍♀️

Classic game, this one. Definitely a strange turn for the gameplay style (kind of a hybrid of a platformer and a Dragon Quest style RPG) but it works. And it's fun!

Nothing can touch the classic Zelda games, even with 8-bit graphics you could totally imagine being Link going through dungeons to save the Princess and to defeat Ganon....like someone said earlier, this truly shows how graphics arent everything to make a game great...its the gameplay itself and the way everything is setup! Only other game I got similar feelings to my 1st time playing The Legend Of Zelda, is when I got to play Ys: Books I&II off the TurboGraFX for my first time and luckily this wasnt even that long ago but it definitely brought back that nostalgic feel of exploration like Zelda games did for me!

Beat the original Zelda no problem. Rented this game back in '89 or '90, got stuck in the very beginning somehow and couldn't figure how to continue. At 9yrs old I hated this game because of that... Think I'll take another crack at it one day!

I like when classic franchise tries something different and out of their comfort zone. I know that sometimes "if it is not broken, don't fix it" can be true but most people always react rude when a franchise tried to make something new for a change. Zelda ll possible was critized and its time for the change but I couldn't care less, I like it and I am glad it is loved now. A shame that other classic franchise are trying new stuff right now and they are getting such idiotic comments lol Good playthrough, Alex, alongside Castlevania ll it is always great beat this game.

Now that I've seen oh-so-many playthroughs, walkthroughs, let's plays, etc, that horrific game over screen no longer induces nightmares in me! Also, my brother got me a set of 4 Zelda-themed gold pins. Well, 3 gold pins and 1 silver pin, actually.

A couple of weeks ago for the first time ever I finish this game and the first one as well I can't believe it I never thought I would play thru these Zelda titles because of how difficult they are it was so incredibly tough I'm not as skilled like this guy I kind of took my time waited for enemies to respond until they would drop blue Potion bottles so I can refill my life I would stay in one of the fields and keep battling enemies until I gained enough lives to get through the area before reaching the last Palace

EXPERIENCE POINTS STRATEGY: Do not set the crystals in the Palaces right away when you defeat a Boss. Instead, jump over the statue to exit the Palace. What this means is that each time you return to a Palace, the enemies there reset, allowing you to gain more EXP for higher levels. This is especially useful when gaining up to level 4 or 5 of Life, Magic and Attack.
