My first Zenit E (Krasnogorsk Zenit E)
Zenit E appeared in 1967. It met an enormous success because of its price much weaker than that of the other reflex cameras of the moment. Heavy, I compare it with a domestic iron. Not very reliable, it however made it possible great number of amateurs to be initiated with the joys of the reflex camera. It is equipped with a external cell (visible with the top of the lens) with selenium, not coupled. The indicating needle is on the cap on the left side, close to the button of rewinding. It is on this button that the orders of the cell and the selector of sensitivity of film are. The finder is particularly dark and shows the world in gray.
The first models had a screw mounting 39 mms in diameter, which was modified thereafter (1968) to 42.
Zenit E are second-hand for a ridiculous sum. It should be said that until 1981, it was manufactured more than 3 million.
