I’ve got a bead on a 601-XLB that has the same glass (EFIS) that you have. Very glad I found this video. Who manufactures the primary EFIS? If we obtain it, I’ve some serious upgrade modifications we will make and hope to share here on RU-vid. Thanks for the presentation! Subscribed.
These were made by Dynon. If you decide to upgrade to the skyview system, much of the wiring is the same. The engine harness will connect right up to the skyview EMS. The primary connectors for power and such will also work just fine, you’re just going to need to add pins to take advantage of the newer features. If you go Garmin, it’s going to be a complete rewire.
I did. It wasn’t too bad. I got to fly it around 2 hours to it’s new owner with the new sticks and they’re great. Gave me the opportunity to put in relays for dual trim and PTT. I liked the dual sticks much more.
I've only ever flown the XL with dual sticks, always wondered about a centre stick. Mine has dual and once my instruments finally arrive I can continue the final build
@@alanverity341 The XL is plenty good with the center stick, the dual sticks are just much better. Either way, it’s a fun plane with a heavy aileron and a touchy elevator. Good luck, it’s a fun plane to fly. I’m glad I moved on.
The airplane was licensed as IFR capable, but the avionics in it were not. It had a non-WAAS IFR navigator so it would need a VOR or WAAS GPS as a secondary navigation source.
