I isolated the elevator from the aileron on my CH701 too. I think mine works well but I haven't flown another CH701 in a long time. I see some other nice detail work in that video that only you and I would probably notice. Very nice work.
Yes the ends are from a local industrial supplier. If I remember right they were about $6 a piece. A friend who build a Murphy Rebel used them on his plane and suggested them.
Dirk, The 701 came from the factory with the elevator and aileron controls on the same control tube. This caused the elevator cables to become slack when operating the ailerons right to left with the stick. Several builders have separated the two control to give more positive control over each independently.
Kaylejwm, I have not flown it yet. I am still building. This week I'm building Ailerons. My email address is vancesimons@gmail.com. Send me an email and I will keep you posted on my progress. I know changing things can be nerve racking. Several people have done this modification and love it. It pays to do your homework.
I emailed you, thanks. Also I was wondering if it wouldn't be worth turning the bolts that tie your aluminum angle to the steel bracket around to give you a bit more clearance for the control hub. Just something I noticed. The aileron hubs on the flap assembly started wearing on mine and I could feel the bolt heads over-camming on the steel bar when on final or with flaps so that sparked the current refurbishment of the plane. Had they been the other way around, the threads could have caught the flap assembly and potentially caused me to lose aileron authority.
