Hi Hafiz, great macros here ! I'm glad i stumbled across your channel and just want to drop a note of appreciation for doing this review. I am still choosing between this and Omega Seamaster 300 2018 for my wedding watch and both has their merits ! Any idea how this movement runs ? does it keep time as good as the seamaster 300 ?
@HafizJMehmood
@HafizJMehmood 4 года назад
Thanks so much for watching and taking time out to leave a note. For wedding, this one might work a little well due to dressier looks. Speed master I reckon is a little casual but then it is also more versatile being sports watches and divers too. I actually didn’t check on the time accuracy that the watch was doing. The watch is my mates so I’ll request him to check it out and I’ll then let you know.

@@HafizJMehmood Thanks for your reply ! Appreciate it. No need to trouble but if he just happened to know the accuracy then kindly drop me a note here ! I'm being offered a very good deal for this watch and im trying my best to research on it. As this will be my wedding watch, I'll not be selling it forever due to its sentimental value hence I wouldn't want anything wrong with it. On the other hand the seamaster 300 is a "safe" option as we all know the kind of test they went thru !

@@kinwei77 Thats great ! I pulled the trigger on this (Skeleton) and its running at 2-3 seconds fast per day (worn daily) with dial up in resting position. Very happy with it indeed !

Zenith case first appeared 1968, many years before Royal Oak. Genta says he was influenced by 60's monoblock cases like Zenith and Omega when he designed Royal Oak and Nautilus in the 70's.

Great review, however two points here: 1. Titanium is way harder to polish than steel. That’s why there are few watches in polished titanium. 2. Comparing it to AP RO is not fair, I’m afraid. This design is based on Zenith’s designs that are older than AP RO.
@breguet101
@breguet101 4 года назад
Just a note here, grade 5 titanium is an alloy, and quite strong. Grade 2 is pure titanium, and softer, darker, and can't be high polished. Zenith uses only grade 5.

Thanks mahmoud, wonderful video, nice shooting too .. Just wanted to mention that AP took the design from zenith defy , not the opposite .. many thanks 👍

I just found your channel and I’m glad I did! I’m binge watching all your videos. Another good review my friend. I would add that the Defy case shape was actually designed by Movado and Zenith (when they were together) in the late 1960’s to accommodate a shock absorbing ring that was designed to defy shocks - hence the name. Or so I’ve been told :) My Zenith Defy Skeleton is my most complimented watch. Bang for the buck, you can’t touch it. It’s on par with my AP and is more comfortable. Also has better finishes than any of my Rolex models (114060, 116622, 114300, maybe even my 116500) especially under macros or a loupe. Zenith killed it with this model. Keep the videos coming!

I don’t own a rolex or an ap, after I wear this defy blue dial over a week, I found that the finishing is superior than anything I saw before.

I had just tried the zenith defy non skeletonized version a few weeks ago and it is a huge value proposition. Absolutely stunning for the price point.

Great review. Really thorough, fair, and straight to the main points. I think the watch is amazing-especially on the bracelet. Don’t think it compares the Royal Oak, because the RO is not an open dial, has the grandpa date at the 3, is far more angular, and on and on. This is a watch for people whole want a modern watch yet still crave symmetry It’s fun, flashy, and yet still classy. PS - This is Level 5 titanium which is far more scratch resistant than cheap titanium you find in lesser watches.
@mdo5121
@mdo5121 2 года назад
This is type 5 titanium and it is harder than the average steel bracelet by 2x....it will scratch way less and it also won't corrode

Not having a screw-down crown seems a glaring omission by Zenith, especially on such an industrial design timepiece.

Great review, let me take this for a general comment. I’m watching you and really my kudos for the great work, you are fair and always balanced, with recognition where it deserves it and no mercy on details to any brand. I love it and we watch enthusiasts are OCD almost by definition and your style stands out from the RU-vid crown. Always looking forward your next review. By the way, I’m going to buy this as a good option appear on the market.

Thank you, Hafiz for another great review. I think Zenith did really well with the skeletonization of this piece. They really tried to make it legible, as you mentioned, and the date wheel is just great. For me, it's definitely not as attractive as the double balance wheel R.O. but it's probably the only skeletonized watch that still looks industrial.
@HafizJMehmood
@HafizJMehmood 4 года назад
Thanks so much for watching. I agree, it’s a very good option for anyone looking to buy Skeleton for under 10k Aussie. But then again, I also wanted to point out that it just doesn’t even come close to AP, and that’s why you pay all the high premium when you want to step up the game to AP.
@alexgichamba8744
@alexgichamba8744 4 года назад
@@HafizJMehmood Yes, the double balance wheel AP is in a league of its own. I hope Patek could some day release a skeletonized nautilus to compete with AP's offering(never happening, haha).

@leyay7540
@leyay7540 4 года назад
In my opinion this watch is better described as "opened dial" rather than "skeletonized" because in fact you can't see much of its movement structure, especially from the dial side. I think that's why you don't need to pay much premium over its traditional dial sibling. It's a nice choice indeed, but if you have a larger wrist, or expect more from the movement, the Oris Pro Pilot X is a strong contender.

Thanks for the video! It really captures all elements of the watch. I'm thinking about picking one up and moving on my Omega AT - this seems a bit more wearable being thinner and lighter. Micro adjustment would've been a nice addition.

This is the first video I see from your channel and it´s great Hafiz! Keep the good work. I have a 6" wrist do you think the bracelet will fit? any more end links to detach to adjust the bracelet to this size? Thanks!
@HafizJMehmood
@HafizJMehmood 4 года назад
Thanks so much. Pls do check my other videos too, and I’m sure you’d love them. Yes, this zenith actually wears very small, I think you’ll have absolutely no issues on your 6” wrist and it will rather contour to wrist just very nicely. You’ll have to remove the links naturally but that’s not something too hard to do.

The whole time I'm thinking it's a copy of Royal Oak, then you put them both on screen and you see that Zenith isn't even trying to hide that fact. Zenith should be ashamed of themselves. In any event, your vid, from the commentary to the film work is always excellent and you do the most enjoyable vids my friend!

Yeah. It doesn’t give a homage to AP look and that’s what I wanted to point out in my clip when I put is side by side with AP. They’ve pretty much copied the whole design of case and bracelet. Thanks so much for watching and he support my friend :)

In fact, it was the other way around. This design of Zenith (Zenith Defy A3642, 1969) came out around 1969, while Genta released his first AP in 1972. I am very sad to see that many people mistaken Zenith as copying AP design 😥

@@gopa8166 This defy looks like a Royal Oak, the old defy is just plain ugly. But you funny brother!
@HafizJMehmood
@HafizJMehmood 4 года назад
Negative my friend. The design of Zenith A3642 that came out before Royal Oak is dead and not even existent in either current lineup or horological history. It wasn’t also integrated bracelet design. What I referred to is the the design of new Zenith Defy from 2018 which is to me personally is a copy of AP Royal Oak. The current Design of Zenith Defy has nothing that links to Zenith history, rather it’s just a very clear copy of angles and profiles that rather links it to Royal Oak; they’ve just renamed it as something that originally came before RO, so it really doesn’t have any unique identity here. It’s not necessarily a bad thing to copy design, it’s just what it is - of course my opinion only. That being said, thanks for watching my video, and the inputs :)
@HafizJMehmood
@HafizJMehmood 4 года назад
Marmie Marmie fair point mate. But yes and no my friend. Even if we say Defy takes inspiration from Hublot; then hublot itself has takes the inspiration from Royal Oak; so it’s in summary again If A=B, and B=C, then it’s A=C I do appreciate your point thought that the circular bezel on Defy is from Hublot but then it misses the screws. This topic will always remain debatable - I’ve just shared my opinion of how I feel after having owned Royal Oak for years and being slightly disappointed that Zenith Defy didn’t give me a unique identity. For your reference, my opinion is not biased; I actually bought Zenith, and wasn’t borrowing it so both watches were my very own in this video.
