It is one of the most famous and most visited wrecks in the world. No wonder, because it is a real treat for divers and freedivers. The ship was manufactured in 1979 in Sweden. It is 172 m long and 26 m wide. In the first half of 1980, she embarked on her maiden voyage from Malmö to Tartous in Syria. He was carrying cargo. He sailed to the Mediterranean, making the first stop in Crete and the second in Athens. Just between Crete and the capital of Greece, the captain discovered the problem. It was about excess water that was erroneously pumped to the side ballast tanks. The ship sailed on and found itself in the waters of Cyprus near Larnaca. It was June 2, 1980. The pumping problem could not be rectified and the ship was diverted 1.5 miles from the port where she anchored. A software error has been detected. During this time of several days, Zenobia began to list dangerously to the port side. The captain decided to evacuate the crew. Just a few days after anchoring, on the night of June 7, 1980, Zenobia sank to the bottom and is now in Larnaca Bay, resting at a depth of 42 meters on a sandy bottom. Lying on the left side.
The wreck starts from about 16 m deep. Two dives are made here, and in order to get to know the wreck quite well, many decide to do even 4 to 10 dives. Let's make a deal, the wreck is huge and there is a lot to admire and explore. The more so that for over 40 years it has become a home for countless marine inhabitants.
You can go inside, see what Zenobia was transporting, to the bridge, to the living quarters. We can meet here specimens of large moray eels, groupers over a meter long, lionfish, amarels, oblady, scorpionfish. There are also snails and shrimps, triggerfish, cornetfish, barracuda and also turtles.
