All I know is every time I look up a video on how to make Gil they say "just level ur crafters and gatherers" And so far I've leveled 3 crafters to 90 and I've never been so broke XD

leveled everything from 80-90 (all 8 crafters) and that cost me 6mill of the 9 mill I had lol! I bought all the components needed to make the lvl 81 scrip recipe. Around 65 of that same level 81 recipe for every crafter. Then there's gear and materia too.. (thankfully I bought lots of materia from the white scrips I got)

A very common mistake I see is people putting materials on the market board in full stacks. As a crafter, if I don't want to make Oroshigane Ingots because I'm rushing to make two body pieces, I'm not looking to glut my inventory or run to my retainer to store something. Even though I'm already sacrificing gil for convenience, I would much rather buy 4 ingots for 3,000g each than buying 99 ingots for 1,000g. Even if I only need 3 ingots, I'd much rather buy four and end up throwing one out than have spent an extra 88,000g on ingots I have to store. Smaller quantities sell faster, almost every time. If you are 'flipping' vendor items (say, Amal'jaa ingots), you will still make more money faster by selling in reasonable quantities unless you are undercutting so much you're not making a profit. I made hundreds of thousands by going to Ul'dah where the craft vendor is right next to the market board and flipping items... but my stuff sold because I was selling 3-10 items at a time instead of 99 stacks. NO ONE needs 99 Grade 1 Vitality Alkahests anymore, if they ever did. Sell them in groups of two or five, and they will sell. For this to really work, also be cognizant of how many of an item is required to make the next step. If people need 3 sands to make a nugget, selling in multiples of three will sell faster. There's an argument to be made that selling in groups of 2 will make them buy twice, but myself and other crafts I know would rather scroll down just a touch to pay an extra 50g for one 2 purchase and one 1 purchase than have an extra sand floating around. Revisit old recipes. People will make videos about 'scientists don't want you to know this one simple trick', but when it doesn't work or stops turning a huge profit, they wait for the next video and never return. Because those methods are not crazy valuable any more, a lot of suppliers moved on. In no case will these make you billions, but the profit can be steady. A good example is Primal minions, which were very expensive (Blood Peppers have to be grown over weeks), but then the market crashed when HoH came out and they were dropping like candy. But now HoH is much less popular, so the price is starting to recover. Primal glow weapons always crash when a new trial is around (Byakko Manes, for example) but then when interest in the primal itself dies out, the item recovers and sometimes skyrockets. Celestial Kimono Remnants can be gained at a rate of easily ten per hour (I have hit 20), but singles are back up to 300k in Crystal because glam players want that spicy purple glow. Finally, exploit the working class. Someone might want a specific drop from a specific fight and will let you take all the other drops which you can sell. Convince three tank friends to unsync Shinryu for their achievement mounts, and 'follow along' to take the drops, desynth, and massive profit. Tell them it's 'more fun in a group', a special 'tank run only challenge', 'the runs are faster if we don't wait for loot bids' and then just happen to be the last one leaving the instance, but Tom Sawyer that stuff and roll around in Tataru levels of cash.
@KitsuneSoup
@KitsuneSoup Год назад
Something I didn't mention: Use 'delayed profit' actions. The biggest one for FCs is a so-called 'Fight Club' submarine. Instead of trying to target items that sell well but need the market board, it is possible to craft a decently leveled submarine that every two days brings back enough vendor-sell items that they can gain 90-200k per trip (normally two days). And that's no effort, you take thirty seconds to send it out and come back two days later to collect, sell, and send back out.

> I would much rather buy 4 ingots for 3,000g each than buying 99 ingots for 1,000g YMMV, but I much rather sell a single thing for 100k once a week than updating a dozen market orders 5 times a day. For the time I spend looking at the summoning bell I can just gather another stack. Of course I try to keep this to things people would actually need 99 of, e.g. mats for collectables always sell relatively quick.

people just seem to be completely fking stupid lately and don't care about profit or making money and actively seem to troll the MB, i constantly sell the lvl 70 ex trial weapons and lvl 80 ones, people literally tank the markets constantly from 1mil+ to like sub 300k to where it's several HUNDRED THOUSAND GIL LESS THAN THE MATERIALS COST... WTF is the point!??!?!? i'm CONSTANTLY CONSTANTLY CONSTANTLY seeing below-max-level materia, and the chocobo foods i used to sell, that you either HAVE TO GROW, or BUY FROM A VENDOR for like 385gil EACH, NO OTHER WAY... people stay listing them for sub 100gil, the materia constantly listed for half the vendor price.... it literally makes no sense... they are directly losing money in the first situation that happens to me personally *constantly*(i so wish i was exaggerating it's infurating D:) and other situations they literally are making less money than they'd make selling to a vendor and not dealing with undercutting paying taxes etc

A big question is also 'why get that rich?' in FFXIV, especially if you are already a max level omni crafter/gatherer. If you ever want an item, that can be crafted/gathered, you can/will do it yourself. You may buy something like a material for convenience, you may get a mount that didn't drop for you in POTD or the golden mikoshi or whatever. But in the end, you will just sit on a lot of gil and no way to really spend it^^ One thing I really like to do with my riches, now that I have my house (the reason I wanted to make gil), is giving 100k gil to baby sprouts (mostly players without a grand company in their profile etc) wandering around in the three big cities and around (sadly doesn't work with trials players) and just wish them fun with the game. They will be happy to be able to buy new gear more often, get some glam or invest it into leveling their own gatherer/crafter jobs later^^

I got into crafting and gathering with the intention of getting to max level and getting rich off of end game crafts. Made the mistake of leveling a crafter first so ended up flat broke. FF14 is the first MMO that I don't feel pathetically poor in. The value of items in the market are at mostly reasonable levels likely because of all the alternate ways to get items. It makes the marketboard a convenience tool instead of this forbidden thing I can't interact with. Comparing this with my other favorite MMO, Guild Wars 2, and it's night and day. I can't afford half of what I need in GW2's marketboard without spending time focused on grinding for cash. in FF14 I just... do dailies and get more than enough. And I'm still a sprout! It would be an interesting economic study to see how FF14 has managed to balance its economy so that new players aren't intimidated out of participating in it. Or maybe my server is just weird and I'm lucky. IDK lol
@ensamvarg8504
@ensamvarg8504 Год назад
I can answer that study for you The devs are making crafting a lot easier in terms of skill floor. Which is great but they kinda forget giving it a proper skill ceiling so now its just rng for "challenging" crafts.
@tranquilb6399
@tranquilb6399 Год назад
I can't really speak for the whole reason why ff14 has succeeded but there are two strong reasons GW2 has become so unfriendly. The first is the intentional scarcity of its high-end items, either through locking them behind unfriendly levels of RNG or requiring immense amounts of materials that are either themselves stuck behind less severe RNG or timegated. The second is the reason I quit GW2, and that is that this feeling of hostility towards the player trying to acquire gold in game is an intentional part of the design, because they are trying to exhaust you into using the currency exchange from the cash shop and buy your way around the chore of the grind. Guild wars 2's entire business model is built around RMT solution selling, that is why it feels so player hostile.
@pao5615
@pao5615 Год назад
@@tranquilb6399 But GW2 doesn't cost subscription fee to play and that's why the company needs to have some ways to acquire cash from the players. Therefore I think what they did is justified.

If you want another tip for making gil, its called gil mitigation and one way to stop spending gil is to stop spending gil on Teleports, anything above 500+ per TP is too much, what you can do is you can get Adventure Squadrons do lvl 50s that drops the scroll which on use gives a discount on aetheryte TPS for 2 hours, join an FC with a TP discount buff, or IMO the best way... is get free TPs by buying free aetheryte tickets with centurio seals and allied seals, they sell 5 per and you can casually join S rank hunts in ARR to SB and you get 20 right away per kill, doing trains nets you atleast 90+ if my math is not wrong. this has saved me thousands of gil atleast of TPs since i do a lot of teleporting when i gather stuff as a botanist and miner also another tip if you press the teleport menu and click the cog wheel theres an option to automatically use an aetheryte ticket above a certain amount of gil, I set mine to 1gil cost since i have 1k+ of these aetheryte tickets

I saw this tip in another video and felt pretty good that I was already doing it, and then some. In early content I had my FC in Gridania, Home in Ul'dah, and Free in Limsa (it's insane the number of times you can jump from there to other atherytes for cheap). Once I could afford an apartment I bought one in Ul'dah for discount teleports there, and shifted Home to Limsa and moved my Free to Ishgard. I skimmed ahead (avoiding spoilers) as I progressed through MSQ, to see where most of the quests would be, and adjusted my system (and Favorites) accordingly. Have literally saved Mils of Gils. Also, I didn't know this, but Commander grinding Squadrons can drop Tickets too, so you don't even need to spend seals to get them. (Also, blue solo grinding Vault is reliable consistent gil w/out market hassle)

The most efficient way I ever made gil was selling furniture when Kugane released. I made probably about 2 bil over the course of 2 months. But I had prepped months prior, and I also spent REAL LIFE MONEY on extra retainers to have extra auction slots. People never like to talk about it, but one's potential is absolutely affected by how much real money you want to spend on slots. Although you can sorta cheese it with alts. But even then, extra retainers are multiplicative. So if you pay for 2X retainers, and have 8 alts, that's now 8x2=16 extra retainers. I used to really love playing the market, but I quit when I took the hobby into real life markets. Day trading and stocks. --------------------------- A lot of people are rich simply because they've been playing and crafting for years. It still blows my mind to see some crafters who've been working hard day in day out for 5 years + I still see the name names dominating the market board. That's some crazy dedication. I remember some people used to make a lot of money flipping houses. God, I remember hating the housing system. It feels so far away now. I remember hearing a story where someone sold a house for like 4,000 real life dollars. And another who sold one for several BILLION gil. When I see numbers like that I kinda feel bad I just let my mansion go for nothing, lol. But I wasn't playing, so it didn't feel right to sit on it for no reason. I still keep an active sub, and I'll play the MSQ, but I've retired for basically everything else, lol. Half this game feels like a foggy memory. A dream of a place long long ago.

The only problem with furniture market is that it does saturate very quickly and items sell rarely, so it’s extremely hard to compete with a lot of people in it. It’s not sustainable advice also because of how sparse housing is. Most players do not decorate or own property 😅. So people who buy are few and if people who sell are many you have the same issue he explains with end game gear. But at least with end game gear almost everyone needs it 😅

There is 1 point all these videos don't mention (because they don't want everyone to do it). And that is that the richest among the playerbase have countless alts on every server on the same DC (and probably even multiple DC's nowadays). They use a few of their characters to craft a ton of (mainly) glamours and ex-trial weapons that everyone wants. Anything revealing or super flashy will suffice. Hades weapons, bikini's or even the frontier clothing for example. They use all the alts to have hundreds, if not thousands, of selling spots. Second thing they do is undercut every serious MB opponent to death. You just do the -1 but they do -100k. Until you go below mat price, and they buy your item up to resell it again themself. You discover this and get discouraged. Just a tiny dent in their billions of gil pocket to make up for the long term. Actually, Zepla's server and DC has multiple of these people. Look up the items yourself and you will see a pattern among all the server in our DC. Same people, everywhere. Many webshops or food ordering companies irl do exactly the same. Such low prices, normal establishments cannot even compete. These companies tend to have negative profit for the first few years until all competition is gone. Then they up the prices again. I actually think SE should do something about this. I don't care that they are rich. But I can't imagine the devs meant for the market to work like this.

Granted, i don't have a huge amount of money (about 60 million), but I'm never on the verge of going broke, you know?

Yesterday someone did a macro saying they pick pocketed me a million gil. I said I'd never had a million gil in my life and later my friend I was hanging out with gave me a million gil. x.x lol They said they can make it back in 2 days. But my way of making gil is as follows. Become a cook, find a vendor that sells dodo roasters and stuffing. I discovered this when I joined an FC that had a vendor I could buy this at. You buy those for less than 100 gil then craft yourself a starlight dodo. Now, this might sell on the market board for 2,000 gil but who has time to wait someone to buy that? Sell it back to the vendor for 150 and double your money. You can craft as many as you can afford. You can't mass craft them, they have to be manually done but there's a button eventually that'll do this in one press. It's a slow process but it works. It also has the unintended consequence of if you tell anyone you're doing this they might be so upset by it they try to pay you to stop. So that's my funny way of making gil I found all on my own. 😂

Reselling dyes is how I usually make a crapton of money on my alts and even on my main if I'm feeling like it. I'm not even selling the fancy dyes like beast tribe dyes or anything... I literally go to the dye vendor in any main city and sell crap like ink blue dye for 700g each when you can buy it for 216. Its absolutely absurd how much you can sell even the most basic of dyes for on the MB. Pretty much any post I see asking how to make money I've told to just go resell dyes. Its still weirdly viable market even to this day, lol.

I've long given up on leveling crafters/gatherers for the purposes of making money. Market board shit just requires too much time and effort. While actually playing the game what I usually do is do roulettes (obviously) and roll Greed on gear drops then just vendor them off (make sure you uncheck "automatically add acquired gear to armory chest" in your character settings since that's a good way to completely fill it with trash). As well, after you've already bought all the tomestone gear for each role, you can go to Idyllshire and buy Goblacquer or Goblinol and just vendor it off. You can convert a max capacity of 2,000 Poetics into 12,800 gil. There are obviously some items you could probably get more from hawking on the Market Board, but like I said I'd rather not deal with that. Obviously, I'm not mega-rich by doing this, I only have like 3mil gil. But I don't raid or anything so it's enough to cover my expenses, buying a crafted gear piece or two to bump my ilvl or splurging on a glam item.
@Ramladon

I quit FFXIV a while back but I use to have around 200mil worth of Gil by doing content that no one did anymore. And selling the contents within since no one had it nor bothered to grind for it. Another way I made easy money was investing in a house and gardening, which is a passive thing unlike Gathering which is active. I barely did treasure maps and such because it's too RNG and a waste of time. But I did have CAP GC Seals at least 3 times a day from PvP and made easy seals from that as well. Edit: Haha just watched more of your video and seen you mention that you made most of your gil from Gardening rather than Gathering. Glad I'm not the only who who become a gillionaire from Gardening passively and just have to log on to water them and harvest and sell. lol

There is making Gil and there is making Gil. If you want to make a reasonable amount of Gil consider the following : level a Culinarian and Botanist and craft food, since food is always in demand its a consumable and its not only used by loggers and end-game raiders. (Alchemist can make Potions, but those are only used mostly in raiding and end game content, so the demand is not that great) Also you don't need Penta-meld gear to sell the latest Ilvl food, Script gear is easy to get and gets you over the mark you need to hit. Do your daily Roulette's as the class in need, that's a simple yet an effective way to make around 100k Gil a day, its not much, but it covers a lot of expenses. Don't stock pile Tomestones, Poetics - buy gear, sell for seals, buy seal mats / glamour prism's. Astronomy - Again, crafting mats, stuff used for consumables is always a solid option. Run unsync dungeons, lesser loot, but with a good combat class, you can get plenty of gear to sell for seals for the time invested, for me, Shisui of the Violet Tides is the best ratio. (NOTE : Dont turn in weapons for seals, they sell for over a 1k to a normal vendor.)

I found a weirdly special way to make my money, lvl 50 and now 60 Primal Weapons Namely the Mighty Thunder weapons from Ramuh, lightning ones and the Demon lvl 60 ones from whatshiscentaur face, Zurvanite guy. Halfway in ShB when I was new and leveling crafting, doing research and googling mats I realized there could be a lucrative way to make gil by crafting cool weapons people want. I can gather myself its pretty quick and easy, craft the ingots, wood bits or w/e myself too with half the mats bought with company seals (And unlike others, Im apparently the weird one greeding items by default if not just needing and then turning it into company seals from dungeons??????) So I dont run out of mats, the only rare mat I need is the trial specific one, from Ramuh. Levin Orbs, in this case Large Levin Orbs. I farmed Ramuh Extreme on my SAM, within 55 seconds I'd manage to kill him, get 3 drops, disenchant the ring, weapon and extra weapon drop (that we now got in Endwalker) and get 3 chances at a large levin orb. One orb is all it takes to craft a Mighty Thunder weapon, that on large demand could go from 100k-150k per wep, or 50k at minimum if theres loads of them. But the lvl 60 demon ones? I can farm that on my Reaper now in Endwalker, kill him within 2 minutes (or sooner if I got the DMG to skip his interlude phase) and get two chances at his zurvannite carapice by disenchanting again, and the Demon weapons can sell for 200k+ cause they look sick af. And over like 2 years I must've made over 150 mil, I got 65 mil right now and spent the rest on, stuff. So I just keep doing that, plus selling a few specific furnishings that always seem to sell well around 50-80k per pop and are easy to craft, you can get the basic mats from beast tribe vendors with some reputation grinding. Despite being a new player starting in Feb 2020, I got the hang of the crafting, what you get from where and made my mullah lol. Im already planning with next expansion after EW, I'll be able to grind Tsukiyome trial and make those Lunar weapons cause those sell like mad already. 300k+

I could have crafted it myself, I even have a fully penta melded set to do so but crafting it yourself (like all the other methods people propose) takes a buttload of time, much more than people want to realize. This method all depends your server economy, I won't discredit the fact I did this during the wow exodus and played on Spriggan which had the exp bonus for new players. If the market price across servers has been equalized, then you're shit out of luck lol, better get to grinding.
