I was planning on taking a break from FFXIV for a month or so, to let the mad rush of players jamming up the log in queue and for SE to patch up the initial bugs that need to be fixed for Dawntrail. Earlier today I decided to play Honaki: Star Rail to hold me over til I eventually go back to FFXIV. But after watching this video, not gonna lie, I might have to switch to Zenless Zone Zero to be my hold me over game for the next month or two!
36:08 i've used that face for years and it looks way worse after the update thanks though glad you can weigh in on stuff you never liked to begin with :0
He hits quite a number of things I like: fighting style is almost entirely kicks: check red eyes and white hair: check eyepatch / missing eye: check calm, cool, and confident, but not cocky: check JRPG belt overload: check and of course the most obvious, he's an anthro wolf
Ok so fun fact Billy, Ben and Lycaon were actually experimental characters to see if they are well received by the community. If they are well received, they would create more robot and furries characters in the future (aka more unique models)
As a neutral here is, Pros: Great artistic direction for not reusing the same Model template over and over again which makes characters Unique on it's own. Cons: Community are divided as always, some will chose the same Character model than introducing new one, some are fixated that it is a furry, some are just had allergy to simple design compared to Star Rail that had a lot going on to their attire, and lastly some people who hates it just because.
There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation in your chat about Firefly and when this all happened. First of all, the swarm disaster and the fight of Glamoth actually happened over hundred thousand years ago. Which means Firefly was drifting all this time in space in some kind of stasis, until Kafka (most likely under order of Elio) found her. Also, many said in chat, that there are signs of connections to a Aeon like Nanook the Destruction or Yaoshi the Abundance. This is actually false, because Nanook and Yaoshi are quite young Aeons and they didn't even exist during the Swarm Disaster. Fun fact: Granny Firefly is actually far older then the most still existing Aeons in HSR xD Another point is the tree. The tree sprouting from her tear is just in her mind ...it's just a visualization of the 'dream' she's telling 'us' about in that scene. She also told the Trailblazer about this dream two times in the story. We don't now what this dream means at the moment, maybe it's just from the past trauma...or it's a way for her to calm herself down.
I also thought of the tree sprouting as her dream. And I think the planet exploding is just the result of the beam that came down from orbit and killed the swarm mother, it also killed the planet. And Firefly just escaped. Other option is that Firefly set off some Glamoth device to blow up the planet, as they blow up planets to kill the swarm, so it's some millitary device and not her being super anime powerful.
There is no timeline given for Glamoth. It could've happened during the Swarm Disaster, or it could've been a remnant of the Swarm from a few years ago.
I was a bit perplexed about why Zepla talked the way she did when she talked as her Viera, until my mind thought for a second, and went "this is how we talk.... Because we have bunny teeth" and i immediately chuckled
What do you get when you combine the extension of an entire planet,Child soldiers and unethical cloning of a sentient species Possibly the best character in the game
I read a good write up how world first runs ruined end game in wow. The game developers at wow wanted world firsts to last longer, so they could get more screen time and made artificial gates to extend end game. Ffxiv already suffers from extreme homogeneity in class design, maybe that will change.
I absolutely loved this BUT I am going to play devils advocate here… They had the time, money, effort and staff to build this AMAZING fake website for the expansion but they won’t fix the gods damned MOG STATION WEB SITE!!! A part of me IS kind salty about that ngl 🤷♂️
While plunge was cool, I actually think shadowstride is cool too. Having a tank do a shadowy teleport is a new idea, and I like it. That said, dragoon getting their boring charge and losing a jump definitely feels lame. These things are not equal imo lol
All the other tanks' gap closers were dashes, whereas plunge was a sick leap. I wish we got to keep that!!! Shadowstride just looks so boring... Glad that seems to be the common complaint. As for self-healing, I was just talking with friends yesterday and came up with an interesting, unique idea: a buff like the BLU Ice Spikes ability that deals damage to attackers that triggers a small heal (maybe with charges or internal cooldown so it's not super OP in AOE?).
Imagine if all trash had three hp... but they hit for 15k.. So the tank clears it all in one aoe but he needs the healer ready to cast them one heal to survive. All bosses have like exactly three rotations of a tanks combo but they are constantly beating the tank hard.. so a healer needs to be ready with CDs for a quick burst... Now dps are pointless. How would this conversation go if it was the DPS that weren't needed? This situation happened on Rift when they tried to add a new role to the trinity, the Bard and Dominator were support roles and were 'required' for the queue originally. But mathmatically, outside of buffing a full 25 man raid, it was found to be a dps loss to bring a support and thus made the dungeons take longer. It's one thing to eff up so badly on your attempt to add to the trinity.. but to fumble on the core of the trinity so badly because you want "new players" to be able to clear the content is absurd. New players aren't in Dawntrail.. new players are struggling to get through the ARR story. If they can get through that they're enjoying HW... and then back to a struggle for StB, especially post quests.
Awesome.. I just got to this game from WoW and it's already turning into WoW... where tanks have so much self-healing that the healer isn't even needed.
