Have you worked with kids who are uninterested in training? (Private clients who are probably only there because their parents want them to be) Do you approach their training any differently than a self-motivated kid?

Glad seeing you’re still a man of the people, Alan. One of us, forever on the road to gainz, appreciating good RU-vid training advice

Yes, how do we get the youths to train untaaaaaaaamed!?

@@Stonewallwellsexpose them to a lot of stuff, see what they like, give it to them. See what they do not, make them like it or just being able to do it. But never use exercise as punishment, unless It’s something that is just sucks and has little to no benefit.

The "specific conditioning" argument by many US coaches makes me mad. Of course most team sport athletes don't run at zone 2 level during the game or do 300 shuttles in a game. But they also don't power clean or squat with heavy weight in a game. The idea is to overload the system in a way that is NOT exactly specific to force an adaptation that benefits your in game performance directly or indirectly (better recovery between training sessiins, being healthy...). If specificity would be the only thing you would only play the sport ( which many people actually negkect un favor if "specific" s&c work).

With conditioning in specific I feel like I put way more effort into the conditioning itself when it is more specific to my sport despite both being just as effective although it doesn’t feel to be the same in strength training because it can never really be actually specific to your sport

Hey will is it worth it to sprint at max intensityif I already play basketball 6 days a week intensely? Will basketball training negatively affect that?

What do you think of the starting strength style of low bar squats? I’ve heard you say in a video that you mostly agree with their first principles so is there a reason you do mostly high bar, and wouldn’t a combination of low bar and front squats be more effective than using high bar? High bar will always be limited by knee strength so wouldn’t you always be under dosing the hips

why do you need an aerobic day if you do a couple of conditioning sessions in a week? is it more for active recovery?

I took that as the two conditioning days being more anaerobic focused

Provide a different stress on the body to provoke new and different adaptations. There's plenty of benefits of aerobic activity, e.g. -in sports: better ability to recover between efforts -in life: lower risks of all types of diseases related to high pressure and cardiovascular health etc.

What advice would you give to folks entering their 40s that want to continue to train and also play physical sports like hockey/lacrosse/rugby/bjj

Your training split is definitely great, but what would you change for a current college athlete in their offseason? Obviously they are still practicing their sport but maybe more loosely, not on a 4-5x weekly practice schedule and not playing games but still sharpening skills.
