We called this the “ sunset ac” in Taiwan, because it only work when the sun set. One tip, before you use the machine. Crank your car ac up to cool down the van, so the machine doesn’t have to crank so hard to cool down the temperature in the van, once its all nice and cool, use the machine to “maintain” the temperature in your van. You will save more battery and it work better.

That's what we truckers do with electric apus. They don't have the needed btus for the space but enough to kind of maintain it

@@levibrown1573just getting the heat of the engine is a feat in it's self - I had worked on engines, generators ect in the offshore oilfields for yrs - Tugs are all engine there might be from 5000 HP to 30000 HP of engines -the living quarters sit right above the engine room - Those AC units often run year round pulling the engine room heat out the living quarters of a tug - they often burn 100 to 150 gallons of fuel a day on just running the AC for a small 8 man crew - They might have 50 tons of AC - when there not running and at a dock thy still need 5 to 10 tons of AC - the quarters are made of steal and the generator is under the quarters - generators create a lot of heat -

A few things that will affect your temperature: 1a) The amount of stuff you have. Water holds heat about 1000x better than air, and solid matter holds heat about 1000x better than water. Heating up solid matter takes a long time but once it's heated up it holds the heat and radiates it over a long period of time (this is the reason for why it generally takes a long time to heat up a cold house but once heated up it takes little effort to actually keep it warm). The more stuff you have, the hotter your van is gonna get, and the harder it's gonna be to cool down. 1b) Circulate the air around the van with a big fan. Air flowing over the surface of solid matter cools it down faster since flowing air takes heat with it, which decreases heat radiation. Because, as mentioned above, air holds heat about 1000x worse than solid matter, the space will cool down faster if the heat is transferred from solid matter to the air. 2) A good rule of thumb is to over-insulate your van. Insulate it for winter use and then some. The reason for this is that insulation works both ways. It not only holds temperatures in but it also keeps temperatures out. With over-the-top insulation, your van is gonna be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This way your AC you won't be constantly battling the heat from the sun. It's gonna be much harder to cool the van if the heat from the outside has an easy time getting inside. 3) Try splitting the airflow pipe. If you split the airflow pipe you can cool both the AC compartment and the rest of your van. Lower ambient temperature for the AC means colder air. 4) If your van has car AC installed, use this in conjunction with your portable unit until it's sufficiently cool and your portable AC can take over.

I bought an old trailer tore it down to the frame rebuilt it with a double wall separated by 1in with rock wool covered out side in foil then siding a small heater or cooler keeps it at a very cold or hot temp I also put pegs at each corner on the roof 4in at front and 8 in at back so I can put on a reflective top lets the hot air rise below adding extra cooling and the water runs off easier in the rain next one im going to make the roof lower at the front so no water pools and should reduce drag I hope

I have both a use each one equally. It’s not the best. Each is the best for different reasons. There’s a number of reasons an situations the zero breeze is best. An a number of reasons wave 2 is. I use them depending on the situation I’m dealing with wattage is a big thing over weight. I can work with the weight a size. But power draw is my big thing. But in some situations to have the extra btu’s is great and just have to deal with the power draw. But other situations the breeze an it’s less of a power draw is best option for the situation

Would your vehicle stay cooler with a frame that has garden shade cloth, especially a reflective product like “Aluminet”, (Amazon), for greenhouses over the top of your rig? (On a pvc frame of some kind). Kinda like a heat reflecting, portable car sun-port creating a micro-climate for your vehicle. Different intensities of reflection, all the way up to 60% if I remember correctly. It’s how greenhouses keep plants, and customers, from frying. Even a lean to that shades your vehicle would help alot. If you have access to a hose, cooling off outside of rig would help unit maintain temp as well as running car a/c a few minutes every hour in heat of day. If your spot has ability for you to drive those short, 2-foot rebar posts into ground a ways, you could bend 1/2” PVC (maybe 1” too, which would be better), over your car & make a mini hoop house for the Aluminet”, (type of shade cloth that also reflects heat away), and hold it in place to pvc poles with “Snap Clamps, (the plastic garden thingy that holds the cloth secure on PVC). I actually love the dryer vent & micro-climate you did. Good luck this summer & stay safe 😊

People tend to want to be cool like there in a home - I grew up in the deep South in 50s and 60s Back then if a house had AC in the deep South they might have 1000 BTU unit for 2000 square feet - if it was 90° out side the inside of a house was also 90° - outside it might be 95% humidity but in the house it might be 60% humidity - In humid regions even if the AC isn't large enough to pull the inside down from the temperature out side they do remove the moisture from the air - that helps a lot - My sister owns my parents house now - she has 8 tons of AC units for the house that's 4 times as larger - In her case she might stay with 3000 BTUs because of the current draw of larger units -

I didn't see the complete video as of yet - most of those units have an inlet and exhaust hose attachment on the back and some on the top of the unit - Regardless there is a hose attachment - my guess is it might be a 4 inch hose as used on dryers - I live in the deep South so I'n my case sense it's often 95% humidity water has to drain out of all AC units down here - So I'm sure there is also a water drain hose some were on the unit also -

Very good review. It just seems like a ridiculous amount of money for the functionality (or lack thereof). I have a 20ft Airstream with a 13,500 btu Coleman mach a/c. I installed a soft start and with that, my $1,200 Honda 2,200 watt generator will run it nicely when I’m off grid. The Honda is compact, quiet & weighs less than 50lbs. Another, arguably better alternative is a Bluetti electric generator with a built in inverter. You could tie that in to your solar panels and use it to supplement your overall power requirements. I own several Bluetti products and they make fantastic, cutting edge stuff. Their customer service is excellent as well.

True. But if power usage is a concern. That’s basically like running an entire second AC unit. They have compressors in them also to function. There sole purpose is to remove moisture. But an AC removes moisture also. Just not as well as a dehumidifier. Than you also have to be careful running a dehumidifier for longer than needs be it’s taking the water out of the air. But is also creating heat in the space that’s needing to be cooled
@Santor-

Theres def a hole in the market for small van AC's. 5,000 btus is about as powerful a van can handle with batteries, generator, solar and whatnot. Problem is, only window units is avaliable in 5,000 btu's, really need something more flexible, minisplits, under floor mounting, back of van etc. Would been nice to have 5 different setups instead of just one giant window unit that hardly fits any van at all, unless one build it from scratch around it. Just isnt that much space anywhere to put it. Divided in 2 units, now were talking, then plenty of people could fit 1 here the other there.

Great review. Do you have the unit outside of the area you are trying to cool? It also looks like the unit had blankets or sheets around it. The A/C needs to be in an area free of any obstructions so the air can freely move through the unit. The reason for this is the way an A/C works is by a thermal exchange. The fan blows air through the evaporator which removes the heat and moisture conditioning the air hence A/C. The heat is then transferred to the condenser that vents the heat outside, that's why it needs to be vented out of the cooling area. It's a little more complicated than that, but that is the basic principle. DISCLAIMER: I do not own this unit, this is based on my knowledge of how an A/C system works. With that said, there is always a chance that I have no idea what I am talking about. Thanks for the video. 😀

U don't have 2 have ice for a zero breeze they designed ice packs exclusively for it jus add water and freeze em. It's a great option for ppl with freezers ,u can keep them in rotation from freezer 2 zero breeze 2 freezer, all whike using efficient battery packs!!! Some Refrigerators and air conditioners now come with their own battery packs!!!!

been a while since i saw a video from u in my feed. you're not much active nowadays are u? BTW the point of AC in car is just to make the heat bearable, can't do miracle really. only solution is just to wait untill summer breaks down in about a month. just 4 more weeks. and you will be enjoying again.

A small fan will work with 70-80 degree temperatures so if it doesn’t work above 90 degrees it is pretty much useless imo

Hello, I'm a HVAC contractor. It's all about airflow. U can put the supply hose behind the fan and run both. Hopefully the breeze will feel more penetrating. The breeze will be slightly warmer, because your mixing both cool and warm interior air. Good luck with it.

This has been my question. Why put the supply hose out to suck in hot outside air. Wouldn't it be better to put it inside and such in cooler air to start?
@robertdavis3433
@robertdavis3433 Год назад
@@mcdee1313 hello, that white Supply hose does not suck air in. it actually blows out cool air into the van. the other hose sticks out the window and it also exhaust the hot air. Warm air is not being drawn into the system.

Something is better than nothing...for as long as you can bare desert heat. Which can be deadly! Staying cool is going to be more and more of a issue with climate change and all. I would recommend to factor in the cost of heating and cooling/power and energy production as well as storage before venturing out full time as a nomad. With gas prices ridiculous, it makes it even more challenging for nomads to escape the heat by moving to higher and higher altitudes. Also, the nomad communities are expected to continue to grow so there will only be so much space for hoardes of nomads to go in the crushing summer heats. Food for thoughts...

I reached out to them last year regarding a sponsorship and they said they would send me a free unit, but after I sent a shipping address they changed up the agreement and only offered a discount. I thought it was unfair but I needed an a/c so I paid for it. It was NOT free. And because of the cost I only ordered the a/c unit, not even their battery.

These things are useless. Bought one in Australia, it made no difference at all. You'd have to sit with the thing within an inch of your face to feel any effects. The company must be paying you to promote this rubbish.
