Health Coach Kait Hi Kait, thank you so much for this great list. Just one little caution. In Australia we have dill pickles, which I’m guessing you mean, but we also have sweet mustard pickles, which we call pickles too, and they have lots of sugar. So do gherkins which are also pickles.Our tomato sauce and ketchup both have sugar too. So you might want to say check the information panel on the back of the bottle for the carb content. Love your vids. Just found you😁

I've been on keto since mid January, so about 7 months. In that time I've lost 76 lbs (from 310). I've learned a lot during that time, and have realized some mistakes. Processed cheese isn't good, stick to the real stuff. Eggs can be prepared in many different ways and are cheap. Almonds are my favorite snack, however they are high in calories, so be careful with portions. I found myself in a rut where I wasn't losing weight, all while keeping my carbs low. I was consuming too many calories due to those almonds! A smartwatch is a huge benefit for tracking your steps, and keeping your activity level up. Lastly, you will be approached by all sorts of people who will tell you the keto diet is unhealthy, or that their doctor even told them this. It's not true.

Roasted pecans with seasoned salt, garlic and butter are wonderful too. In the last 2 months of this quarantine, I just started feeling 'rebellious' and began including some very bad carbs. I paid the price, by gaining back about 10 pounds. That makes me very unhappy. I've got to get back on track...

@@lindahandley5267 Don't be too hard on yourself Linda, we all make mistakes. Last week I gained 3 lbs from making some poor decisions (weight adds faster than it loses for some reason, lol). I've gone back to writing down everything I eat, and I add up the calories and carbs, it helps me stay accountable. The pecans sound good, I'll check them out!

@@justmyselfj Hi, It took about a year to lose the 40 pounds. I just followed the guidelines available on the Web, especially Dr. Ken Berry's, such as no sugar. I'd already largely cut sugar out before going keto. What I didn't understand was that I also needed to drop bread, pasta, potatoes, etc out of my diet. So now it's 2 eggs in the morning with a bit of cheese. Meat and green veggies at other meals. I don't bother making any keto bread or cakes or fat bombs. Too expensive and complicated for me. I keep it as simple as possible. But to be honest, I'm currently on a plateau at 175 lbs and not moving down anymore. But I think that I just need to be patient and keep going. The weight will eventually come down. I figure that 155 lbs would be about ideal for me. But I don't obsess about it. Good luck in your efforts! It's well worth it.

Awesome thanks Ive been doing keto about 4yrs now and have enjoyed ALL the benefits........ALL!! And surprised me But avocados are a big part of my weekly diet.......I make an Avocado salad (its really just homemade guacamole) Steak and Avocado salad is a regular meal And my body fat % has never changed.......once I lost the 50something LBS 3-4yrs ago

Collard greens is another vegetable that is zero carbs per serving at 1.5 cup (85g) per serving Total carbs 2g and Fiber 3g.

Fun fact: peanuts aren't nuts!!! They grow underground and are edible seeds enclosed in pods; therefore peanuts are actually legumes (in the same family as beans & peas).

Congratulations on being so organized and so eloquent and for preparing the videos so well. I love avocado and tomorrow I will buy some and have one every morning instead of banana. I have lost 80 pounds in 9 months with a ketogenic diet combined with 18 hours of daily fasting and from being on a wheelchair because of arthritis I now walk only with one crutch. I still have to lose another 20 pounds to remove the belly fat completely. What we eat is what we are. Thanks again.

@Gloria Ryan I saw on youtube a recipe for keto cheesecake and creamcheese pancakes made from coconut or almond flower, creamcheese and eggs. and you can add berries and there are zero sugar syrups available in a few flavours. I don't miss these types of foods but I saw your comment, maybe you'll loce this.

I was hoping to get some new ideas from your video and it is well made but after eating an atkins standard low carb diet for 25 years I tend to base my diet on net carbs as the the fiber carbs aren't digested so you get little to no sugars from them. There are a few canned foods that could have made your list like bean sprouts(1 total carb per serving), pickled vegetables at 3 carbs per serving, sugar free relish, and on to the higher carb but lower net carb foods including baby corn)almost 0 carb per serving), artichoke hearts, one half serving of canned carrots and beets are also well in the low carb range, and there are literally several dozen healthy low carb vegetables like mustard and collard greens, chard, kale, okra, cucumbers, radishes, sun chokes, broccoli, cauliflower, turnip greens, beet greens, spinach, asparagus, cabbage, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, limited amounts of peppers and tomatoes, eggplants, summer squash, green beans. I limit my carb intake to 12 per day and have no problem creating a never ending assortment of low carb foods including shellfish that was absent from your list. I do eat the occasional one strawberry or couple of blueberries but not very often. Half an avocado every couple of weeks. I typically cook in bacon fat or butter. How many carbs do you allow yourself per day out of curiosity and why do you avoid high fiber foods that have very low net carb counts. Even atkins allowed that except for those who had conditions that he treated with basically a keto diet that he didn't mention by name. All in all I enjoyed your video however I don't see the need for me to eat a keto diet as I do well blood work wise on my standard low carb diet.

Thanks for the tip on the GREEN bell peppers as opposed to the higher carb yellow or red peppers. Avoid peanuts just because most are saturated with pesticides due to crop sharing with cotton.

Peppers regardless of color and the red peppers are always higher in nutrients are not low carb vegetables. They belong in the medium carb column.

From 76Kg to 69Kg (around 15lbs) in 2 weeks+few days with 23:1 OMAD+Keto. Eating mostly fat and meat is tough, and it's hard to get out from the clutch of binging veggies or fruits once you take a bite of them. Fish+Cucumber+Coconut Milk stew is the best!

I've always been a mustard eater. What I have found is that in most cases mustard pretty much is Zero carb. There may be some specialty mustards that are higher. Plain mustard is Zero carb. Some specialty mustards from a chain grocery store(Kroger) are Zero carb. Spicey Brown and Dijon. The Honey Mustard shows 1 gr sugar added.

My salad dressing---- 2 parts avocado oil, 1 part red wine vinegar, 1 part organic yellow mustard, black pepper, red pepper flakes, pink Himalayan salt, minced garlic

Hi Kait - Thanks for the list and I appreciate your videos! I don't know if anybody has pointed out that Monetary Jack cheese is actually called Monterey (Mont-er-ray) Jack. (I rather like Monetary Jack though!) :-)

The thing to watch out for with condiments is sugar. Ketchup/mustard is FILLED with added sugars

Great list, thank you. One thing though, heavy cream has zero carbs. That's why it's used so extensively in keto recipes. It's all I've used in my coffee for years now. 😊

Yeah the heavy cream being keto friendly shocked me when I first started. Partially skim. milk (1 or 2%) BAD Half-n-half (10%) BAD Table cream (18%) BAD Whipped/heavy cream (35%) GOOD

Thank you Kait. That was very helpful. I'm struggling with my weight for years. I might be insulin resistant. I've looked into it. It's kinda counterintuitive to eat full fat foods but I can see the logic. I've heard that sugar is a class A drug. In an experiment with rats I think, the rats went for the sugar when there was a pile of heroine or cocaine beside the sugar. Makes sense.

Great that you share the list of no carb items, as well as items re insulin resistance and iodine. I have symptoms of iodine deficiency, ie loosing hair and dry skin. I am only eating items on your list to combat insulin resistance. My waist has extra fat that needs to go and though I have lost 5 pounds, I still need to loose 7 more. I have a size 6 but lately my clothes do not fit right. Appreciate you listing items to eat and those to avoid. Thanks!
