I was in Japan during the earthquake that led to the tsunami which lead to the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The feeling I had was of being off balance, like when drunk. But, I was so far from the epicenter that it was more of a large slow sway, than the kind of short, quick movement you see in films. I had to stop and think if I had been drinking the night before. Then I looked over at the vertical blinds and noticed that they were moving like a pendulum. Again, very slow and steady. Went onto whatever social media I was using at the time to see if my co-workers (we all worked in different classrooms all over the area) were experiencing it. Some time passed before other people started posting. Then we all got faxes that classes would be canceled for a while. I was 225-250 mi from the epicenter, so it was definitely a much different experience for me than for those closer. The best way I can describe it was it was like gravity was rocking back & forth.
In NZ we have this exhibit that allows you to experience what it feels like in an actual earthquake. It's not a great feeling. I'm on edge and my anxiety is through the roof whenever I feel earthquakes. Also, did they just forget that Iceland experiences it's fair share of disasters too? They had to evacuate a whole town because of a volcano eruption. I also lived in Australia albeit only for a year and a half, but I never saw any dangerous spider etc. outside of the zoos etc. my whole time living there. It's not that bad, particularly in the cities. Honestly, I see more Australian spiders living in NZ than I ever did in Australia, we have their white tails, redbacks, and although harmless to humans huntsman.
I was listening to this podcast yesterday when Ravs was talking about experiencing a small inconsequential earthquake. We just had a small earthquake here in SE New England the morning after I had listened to the podcast. Ravs, please don’t wish for any more natural disasters😭 I think you summoned one.
That "eating is cheating" idea is wild to me. If I didnt eat before drinking and got to drunk because of it my mates would call me a fucking idiot, even when we were 18-19
omg in our floor in Uni accomodation the cleaner would come around and would end up just having a natter because we already cleaned up, we would sit in the kitchen with them and chat for the 30 mins they would have for cleaning that they did not have to do because we where so clean. I know, shocking that there are clean Uni students, turned out that the smoker floors, usually top floors where the cleanest as we are used to cleaning out ashtrays etc, and keeping our bongs from stinking the floor out, a lot of the time we are like this so that we don't get into shit for being stoners. In regards to the first question, shocking straight man finds out what us gays have known for a long time, female friends are kind and are generally quite emotional, don't read into it, your her straight gay best friend.
The problem is thats obviously a joke but whenever theres two people of opposite genders people make wild assumptions about their relationship. Like the yogs are real people and if they dont want to disclose their relationship status, dont pester them.
