You might want to watch the post-credit scene to this episode - it seems like it was only subbed for some reason? It gives us a little glimpse into C.C.'s mind at the end of this season! There are also Picture Dramas - little stories that expand on what is happening behind the scenes, how Suzaku befriended Lelouch and Nunnally, some student council shenanigans, expanding on some relationships, Jeremiah and Villetta's for example.
Season 1's final scene is fucking _poetry_ . No giant robot, no big battle, no supernatural nonsense. Just three people in a room, yelling at each other. Literally theater.
V.V really messed up the Whole plan of Kuro no Kishidan 😂 Brittanian Force came back on his foot and delivers the Finishing blow, this episode are the 2nd Defeat of Japan after Genbu Kururugi
I still can't believe against all odds we got them to watch Code Geass. What a journey this has been. One season and the first half is done. This has been my favorite reaction on the channel. You 2 used your analysis and discussed far more in this show compared to others and that's what we wanted to see from this reaction. You will understand why this anime is one of the all time greats when you further progress in season 2 and witness the ending
discussion is pointless when it's made illogically leading them down strange paths...I honestly don't know how Kenny's mind works. He's coming up with things the show never even mentions...
@@Emre.55 Well, the last five episodes of season 2 do imply that she might have really been a convenient excuse for him. His love (one might say dependency) for her is real alright, but the rebellion, and his hunting down his siblings, is really more for his own satisfaction and ego. But alas, he couldn't accept that about himself so he had to shift the burden of blame on his sister
And that was his undoing in season one and why his goals were never realized in season 1. Season 2 he decided that the world was now more important than Nunally, though she was still in his mind, he was going to see it through
And here's why a commander, strategist and symbol is invaluable in the battle field. The Japanese were getting nowhere with their resistance until Lelouch showed up, and even though he didn't bring them victory every single time, his mind and powers are what truly set the resistance in motion. Without Lelouch there to lead them, what looked like certain victory fell apart in a blink of an eye.
I really like how when Suzaku corners Lelouch by surprise, Lelouch's first instinct is to try to come up with some speech about Euphy, and Suzaku is just having absolutely none of it and just cuts him off right away. He's so sick of it.
The worst part is. Euphy would have still end up dead. Because we was going against the mentality of the emperor just like lady marianne. So yes he's right but also he's soo damn wrong
Everyone: Lelouch, please help us Lelouch: *Leaves them on read* This was a really intense season finale and the cliffhanger was brutal too. Luckily, I watched the show after it had already finished so I could jump into the next season. But imagine watching that finale and then having to wait a year or so for any continuation. Wild. It is interesting to note that in his rage towards Lelouch, Suzaku called him a mistake, similar to the Emperor who told Lelouch that he was dead from the moment he was born.
The whole reason for why Lelouch is the way he is now is that he has lived his life without any control on the events around him or even on himself. That's why he's become an absolute control freak, why he can't trust anyone else, and why he wants to impose his will on the rest of the world. What better way to come back from having no control than by dominating everything and everyone? Suzaku's line about him being a mistake that must be rectified is a fundamental attack on his biggest trauma. It's truly peak writing that this is the only line in the whole scene that pushes him over the edge and makes him lose control. And that theme comes back at the end of R2 when he tells Diethardt "What right have you to deny my existence?" and even at the end of the Fukkatsu movie where he similarly tells Shamna "Don't deny me. Pain, sorrow, regret - it's because of them that I became who I am. Do not take my scars from me"
Kallen's distraught because she only knows Lelouch as a student who skips class to gamble and who is smart enough to know about the struggles of the Elevens but does nothing about it because in Lelouch's words, "Elevens can live a better life as long as they keep bowing to the Britannians" (Episode 9). Kallen saying "You used us, you used me?" is because she thinks Lelouch is only doing this for fun, using the conflict between Japan and Britannia as a giant chessboard which, to be fair, is partially true.
21:30 so yea she is immortal, but she does feel pain. thats why she is `nervous`. about the tought of going through it. in this case they cut out the scenes where you see her getting crushed by the pressure / drowning under the sea.
The leader thing Montana was talking about ties back to the first episode. Lelouch is mocked for making his first move a chess game to lead with the king and his response was,"If the King doesn't lead how can he expect others to follow?"
I love when Orange Boy starts talking like a bad translation. I imagine all the scientists standing around like, “Ok, who put a Commodore 64 chip in this man’s brain? Because he only speaks in ‘All Your Base’ now.”
There is a name that’s come up multiple times that you’ve missed, but this is normal; it’s very quick and easy to miss. But this is all information you’ve been shown, so there are no spoilers here. Marianne. Lelouch and Nunnaly’s mother-Marianne the Flash-was an accomplished mech pilot before marrying the emperor. She was a Britannian commoner sponsored by the Ashford family, who owned the mech she used, the Ganymede. This is why the Ashford family looks after and keeps the secret of Lelouch and Nunnaly’s real family, why they’re allowed to live on Ashford Academy grounds, why Milly is close with Lelouch and knows his secret, and why the Ganymede is kept beneath the Academy. Nina did not build the Ganymede, she just attached her nuke to it; you already saw the Ganymede being used at the school festival to make a giant pizza. Lloyd’s fascination with this antique mech is also the only reason he’s interested in marrying Milly, as he told her at the festival. Marianne is also the name C.C. finally muttered to the person she’s been talking to when she’s alone the entire show, implying that she is somehow communing with Lelouch’s mother. C.C. has now said she’s a witch, after all. TL;DR: Lelouch and Nunnaly’s mom was a cool mech pilot, she worked with the family that own the school you see a bunch of, Nina has hijacked her old mech, and C.C. is maybe possibly supposedly talking to her from beyond the grave.
They also missed the Emperor mentioning that he was talking with Clovis in the first few seconds of episode 6, which was a subtle way to let us that not only is it possible to communicate with the dead in this universe, but also that Charles has known about Lelouch and his Geass for almost all of season 1
Cc saying she is witch have nothing to do to witchcraft 😂. Just her accepting what humanity being calling her, she already die a lot by being calling a witch she can’t die
Great episode and the wait for the next season was pain, not to mention the 1st episode of season 2 everyone is like... "is this the right show? What's going on? Did I miss an episode?" The madness!
There was a hint about Lelouch not being killed in this season and it was the nature of Suzaku's order "live" if Suzaku would have killed Lulu then the explosion would have killed him too, thus he can't do it, still as someone who didn't havr to wait to see what happened i can say this is one the best seasons finale evet created.
Welcome to the worst cliffhanger since Avatar Book 2. Let's also give Johnny Yong Bosch and Yuri Lowenthal some respect as they went hard in this episode. It's no wonder they have both had such great VA careers. Johnny has voiced tons of characters from Vash to Ichigo while Yuri has voiced Sasuke to Spiderman. Absolute legends. The relationship between Lelouch and C2 is very interesting. As she gave him his Geass and changed his fate. She starts off keeping him at arm's length but here she is completely on his side. Lelouch abandoned the fight to save his sister. This is a major aspect of his character. I don't think he doesn't care about freeing Japan at all. Rather it's just a few rungs down. With Destroying Britainnia, avenging his mother, reshaping the world for his sister, and protecting his friends all being a little higher than that.
The way he considers Japan and the Japanese definitely feels like a, let's say, bonus. If he can accomplish all his other goals and also improve their condition, then that's neat. But if not, tough for them, his mission comes first
Remember the Lelouch's quote from the beginning of this final: 2:03 "I will demolish the present world and build a new and better one in its place." Thank you for your reaction to this whole season. It's amazing how you've been enjoying it and it's not a surprise because it's one of the best anime in history. The season 2 is even a lot better with resolving almost all mysteries but the final is something that I have never seen in any show yet. I very often return to rewatch that final in my free time to admire what and how they managed everything on that one single scene. It'll be epic and incredible seeing you watching that for the first time! I have only one simple request. When that one final moment will happen, the last 10 minutes of the last episode of Code Geass, I hope that you won't stop that to discuss anything and enjoy it in a sinlge flow and comprehend all emotions it'll give you. This final outstanding scene is a one piece that holds together and turns upside down the whole show! I will enjoy that heavenly moment with your emotions without discussion. Let have that future discussion for later and enjoy that amazing final in on harmony in not so far future. :) Thank you for this whole season! See you in season 2 when you're hearts will break in half. :)
The nunally scene i think was just that normal anime scene when something happen to someone you know and you just fell something happened. It’s pretty comum in some animes
Fun fact about something you said. The intro to this show has a lot of still images and re uses images from past intros. The reason behind this is that the show aired without having a Manga first so their budget was much smaller than that of other shows.
I like how montana just started laughing at you when you started nerding out and singing the beyblade theme. Lmao, even as an anime nerd myself admittedly, her response to that was correct.
You might want to watch the post-credit scene to this episode - it seems like it was only subbed for some reason? It gives us a little glimpse into C.C.'s mind at the end of this season! If your remember, Kallen tried to recruit Lelouch into the black knights earlier in the season(not directly, but asked him pointed questions about how elevens are treated and stuff) and his response wasn't exactly something she liked. She believes Lelouch doesn't really care to help the Japanese, so this was a huge shock
Kallen was not trying to recruit Lelouch for the Black Knights, she wanted to know his ideology and his position on the situation of the Japanese since her suspicions about him being Zero had reappeared as a result of her discovering that he also fell asleep in class like her.
This episode was a fucking fever dream. It aired on Daylight savings time on adult swim at like 3 in the morning. There was no next episode preview. I legit thought this was the end of the series
When it comes to Kallen reacion I must qute one comment I saw online "Kallen's reaction is completely realistic. Imagine the person you put you're absolute trust in and loyalty to, willing to sacrifice your life on his word... Is George from math class"
A thrilling close to a solid first season. I can't imagine the suspense that viewers who watched Code Geass experienced during its broadcast. I would like to comment on our protagonists at the end. 1. Lelouch: abandoning his army in the middle of a very important battle that would determine the course of a rebellion due to the disappearance of Nunnally constitutes an act of betrayal, without a doubt. But we can extract a learning (or, rather, a confirmation) from Lelouch's character: Nunnally is as important to him as his revenge, why? Because Nunnally is largely the reason driving Lelouch's actions. In that cryptic conversation that Lelouch and Suzaku had in episode 23, Lelouch confirms to Suzaku that everything is because of Nunnally and that is partly what makes Suzaku angry, as he realizes that Lelouch uses her as an excuse to justify all his sins. To this point, Lelouch has lied, used, manipulated, betrayed, harmed the living conditions of the Japanese, and caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people on both sides, including Suzaku's beloved, whom Lelouch used to promote his rebellion and, by extension, attract his father and control him with his Geass (although Lelouch pointed it out in the previous episode, it is much more evident in the discarded draft of episode 26 that I referenced in the Fun Fact that was the purpose of his plan). In short, all this destruction was so that Lelouch could get revenge on him. The interesting thing about this matter is that Lelouch is fully aware of what he does and recognizes that he is doing evil. I like that the translation in the dub Lelouch says during his conversation with CC "if you're supposed to be a witch, then perhaps I should be a demon". I believe in some translations he is expressed as "warlock", which further emphasizes Lelouch's kind gesture of not leaving CC alone. However, "demon" is more appropriate. While Light perceives himself as a God who is above everything, even human laws and values; Lelouch perceives himself as a Demon, the embodiment of evil. This means that Lelouch is not amoral (like CC and Diethard). On the contrary, he has a deep sense of right and wrong and a moral code that does not suits to universal ethics. 2. Suzaku: Although fans believe that CC is the one who knows Lelouch best; In the words of the screenwriter and creator of Code Geass, Suzaku is the person who best knows and understands Lelouch in all his facets and this ending exemplifies it perfectly: VV is not the one who tells Suzaku that Lelouch is Zero, he deduces it from of the trail that Lelouch has left. The interesting thing here is that Suzaku, to a certain extent, feels responsible for the catastrophe that Lelouch has caused and regrets not having acted sooner, since Lelouch had promised Suzaku himself that he was going to destroy Britannia, so he was already aware that his friend was a monster. For Suzaku, it was the height of cynicism that Lelouch tried to convince Suzaku to help him rescue Nunnally by appealing to his friendship considering everything he had done and then blackmailed him by threatening his life. This was the evidence Suzaku needed to confirm that Lelouch had crossed all boundaries. Suzaku shined in this scene. Even if Lelouch had the sakuradite bomb on his chest, Suzaku destroyed him by unmasking him in every way.
I've been reading your analysis and, as a fellow Code Geass overanalyser haha have you thought about the phrase that makes Lelouch break during his conversation with Suzaku? Up until the moment he goes crazy and pulls out the gun, he's kept relatively calm while trying to find different rational strategies to get Suzaku to either help him or leave him rescue Nunally. However, there is a moment that breaks him (look at his face) and makes him angrily pull out his gun: when Suzaku tells him "his existence is a mistake". Lelouch's conflict and beginning point for his rebellion is about being denied a place in the world. He and Nunally were denied their own place amongst Britannia's royalty, her mother's place was apparently denied to her by her killer, Britannia keeps denying the place of the japanese people. When he says he wants to create a world for Nunally, he is being quite literal: He needs a world where Nunally has her rightful place, because right now, she doesn't have one. That doesn't mean he wants to get their royalty status back (as we'll see in R2), but this is where a lot of his fighting ideals come from. Being told that "his existence is a mistake" and that he should be "erased from the world" is rubbing salt on that wound. Just something I noticed during this, my seventh rewatch of Code Geass hahahaha (Btw, I think that "being dennied a place in the world" is a common theme that goes through a lot of the characters in the series, including Suzaku, Kallen and even CC herself)
@@neoshenlong I completely agree, in fact that is the very reason why he's such a control freak and is so incapable of trusting anyone else, or seeing them as being on his level. It also comes back at the end of R2 when he tells Diethardt "What right have you to deny my existence?" and even at the end of the Fukkatsu movie where he similarly tells Shamna "Don't deny me. Pain, sorrow, regret - it's because of them that I became who I am. Do not take my scars from me"
Yup. That's also the whole point of Charles plan. Denying humanity their right to exist freely, as imperfect as they might be. @@Megalomaniac_Trans_Lesbian
So here we see probably Lelouch’s greatest flaw as a leader. He is exceptional, his sheer intellect and charisma basically single handedly made the rebellion work. But he set up nothing for what happens if he is gone, while being a very, let's say kindly, a passionate guy. Easily exploited.
His real flaw, besides his complete inability to cope with unexpected turns of events, is his absolute need for control over everything and everyone, including every single level of his organisation. That translates to exceptional understanding of his assets and how to use them, but also, as you've said, to them collapsing the moment he's gone because he won't allow anyone else to threaten his position by having access to the same level of information
@@Megalomaniac_Trans_Lesbian I just...don't agree. First how can he not cope with unexpected events? That has never been a thing, heck in this episode he adapts perfectly to Jeremiah's completely new Knightmare he knows nothing about. But second for his need for control, we know that isn't true. Tamaki used to do the treasury stuff, Rakshada does the Knightmares, he left Ohgi in charge of the school here, not to mention his complete inability to control C.C.. He LIKES control, but he gives it away all the time.
@@nahte123456 That is literally the one and only reason he ever loses. He always prepares for every possible outcome he can think of, but then one out of three or four times it comes down to one he didn't expect, at which point he completely panics. Back during the Shinjuku battle, he had absolutely no idea how to deal with the Lancelot after he was certain he'd beaten Clovis. At Akihabara, he literally froze in place after falling for Cornelia's (impossibly obvious) trap. Same when he was caught by Lancelot at Narita, when he discovered the identity of its pilot, when he couldn't beat Mao at chess, or when Nunnally revealed she asked to be made viceroy during season 2. In fact, that flaw takes centerstage in R2 where it pretty much single-handedly causes every bad thing that happens to him between episode 13 and the finale
@@nahte123456 As for the control thing, what you're describing is not giving control away, it's delegating to his subordinates. He only gives them tasks that are important enough that he can't waste his time on them / needs a true expert to deal with them, but not so important that it would let any of them influence the directions that the organisation takes. He was supervising Tamaki's spending after all, and Rakshata being in charge of R&D doesn't put any risk on his authority since no matter what she does, it'll just mean more resources for him to use as he pleases. His need for control is also the main reason for the betrayal in S2E19, among other things
@@Megalomaniac_Trans_Lesbian That's not failing at coping at all though. Shinjuku he was physically incapable of damaging the Lancelot, his planning just outright didn't matter. He had no weapon that could pierce it's shields. Akihabara wasn't being unable to cope it was being tricked. It was dumb but had nothing to do with something new happening, nothing knew happened besides Cornelia being smart. Narita was, again, not coping. He physically can not damage the Lancelot. You could put Bismark in that position it doesn't matter, you can't damage it. Mao...I don't know what you mean? Mao is a mind reader and Lelouch won, how is that not coping? Him not having an answer isn't being unable to cope with something unexpected. He either physically can not do anything or just got out planned, yet he still gets away every time except for end of R1 and the Traitor thing.
I think I’ve heard that C.C. caused their vehicles to undergo so much depth and pressure(under the water) that she must have been crushed to death under it. She may be immortal, but that had to be one of her most painful deaths. Especially because to escape it she’d have to swim up while probably dying over and over(or get washed up somewhere)
I’m jus gonna say this because they’ve given the info for you guys to put this together already, C.C. literally said the name of the person she’s talking to in her head a few episodes back. She said “isn’t that right, Marianne?”… and in this episode you hear LeLouch’s mothers name again. And it is Marianne… so there’s that
I dont know if you'll get it later on or not, and sad I missed the premier, but Lady Marion was already revealed to be the voice in C.C.'s head. I didnt catch that either though the first 2 times I watched it. There's a lot in the show that you can catch on a second re-watch. I've probably watched it over 10 times then I still notice new things each time.
Ya, they heard that part, but I think they kept missing or forgetting that this was lulu's mother name. They seemed to miss hearing it here too. As when C.C. said it, they were wondering who this person was.
Lelouch and C2 made a deal. Part of that deal was to give Lelouch the power to reach his goal of a better life for Nunally his main motivation for everything. There for her getting kidnapped effects the deal allowing C2 to feel it.
Kallen begins the series being lost in a certain way. Her beloved brother died, her stepmother despises her, her father is absent, her mother suffers hell and her people are oppressed all the time by an evil empire and she channels her anger, frustration and pain through terrorist activities. She is not sure what she wants nor does she care. Meeting Zero completely changed Kallen's life. He gave her a purpose and noble ideals to strive for, but, above all, he offered hope that the world can change. Keep in mind that Kallen was fighting in the name of justice at the beginning, then that transitioned to fighting in the name of her country's freedom. Ohgi entrusted her with the task of protecting Zero since he is the one who can make her brother's dream come true and, although we do not know exactly what it consists of, she is going to turn this mission into her another motivation. But then she discovers that Zero, the hero she admired and respected, is actually Lelouch, the boy who disdained the plight of the Japanese, and Kallen's entire world collapses, why? Not only because each person's visions are incompatible, but because the entire premise of Lelouch's rebellion is based on faith in his leader and his cause (the justice, the equallity and the freedom) and this has just been crushed after the identity of the masked man was revealed and it was learned that he was using to the Japanese to promote his own agenda (and, furthermore, he has a magical power that allows him to bend people's wills). Everything she thought she knew about her leader was a lie and Kallen is questioning if her ideals and her fight are too. Kallen can't claim Lelouch, because she is having a battle with herself. What should she do? What should she believe? Does she hate Zero/Lelouch or does her unconditional loyalty to him persist? Should she continue to defend this man, even though he used her and lied to her? To make matters worse, Lelouch threatens to destroy her and Suzaku if he doesn't let him go, even though Kallen has nothing to do with the matters between the two friends/enemies. Poor Kallen! If there is a victim here, it's her. You can't judge her for abandoning him. Lelouch/Zero stood here unworthy of her loyalty. PS: Lelouch took it upon himself to remove all suspicions that Kallen had of him in episodes 3 and 9. He tricked her. That's why it doesn't matter that Kallen knew that Zero isn't Japanese.
It's hard to say to someone "hey I've been lying to you this whole time, hijacked your cause because there's something I want, tricked you so that you would blindly trust me, and also all thing miraculous things I did is because I got this mind control power, and maybe I mind controlled you too and the people around you. Your left your people to die cuz I got important stuff to do. And Suzaku, yea I totally warped the person you love to be a mass murderer of your people, but hey, c'mon guys, let's not sweat the small stuff, we're all equally bad, can't we forget about that for a second? help me out here" So at this moment, no Zero is not worthy of Kallen's loyalty, and is worthy of Suzaku's ire
I’ve been watching anime for a long long time. I’ve completed over 200 different series, and I’ve rewatched few…Code Geass is easily in my top 10, and one of the few I’ve rewatched multiple times. The thing about this series is that the world building is so good that you can rewatch multiple times and catch new details. And the second watch/rewatch of the series is wayyyy different than the first. Looking forward to seeing you both complete it. I’m here for it 🎉🎉🎉
Dont treat this "i'm a witch" literall. She was immortal woman during times when people burn women with cats. Connect the dots. Guys plz. You saw her dying in first episode. And later Mao said that it would be easier to chop her into pieces to move her to australia.
I was just catching up to your reactions since i didnt want to wait to watch this specific chapter. It was suuuuuuch a ride, and i love that you had the same emotions i had on my first try, then again dont worrybto mucho about missing stuff, it taskes a few watches to get all of the info that the show gives us, so dont bother so much if there still some thing you dont understqnd. Thanks for the reaction! ❤🎉
The C.C. and Lelouch scene is so good... She actually expresses her worries and desires in straight-forward way, he asks her not to die (get hurt) despite seeing her walk off a bullet in a head. They care about each other now! Also: Gawain is named after a knight of Round Table, who happened to have an odd queer-coded relationship with one Green Knight and his wife, so if you ever wondered why C.C. has a green hair or why it's a two-pilot knightmare -
Also in the Arthurian cycle Gawain and Lancelot are close friends that become sworn enemies later down the line! So creators clearly did their research.
No, Marianne told her. In the original dub, she says "I just know that she's been taken, trust me! She's your reason to live, so we have to save her!" Just a bunch of really bad translations in the English dub here and there. Like when Zero said that he aims to make Tokyo an independent nation and it sent Kenny and Montana thinking about why it would be only Tokyo and not all of Japan, like in the original dub
The cliffhanger IS evil! And the cracking of the mask is wonderful~ Kallen was NOT having a good time, that's for sure. The patreon questions are good as always!
What do you mean they had to wait 3 years for the next season? I think they are lying. The first season ended in 2007 and season 2 known as R2 started in 2008. So a 1 year wait. Sure 1 year is still long but certainly not 3 years.
Yes, yes they did end the season on that very scene! The best, and worst, cliffhanger ever! Your reaction was just like mine when I first watched the season 1 finale!
I love the little bits of characterization they do. Like when Nina showed up. Lloyd immediately freaked out and ordered both sides to stop. But Rahkshata didnt try and countermand him. She recognized that Lloyd knew something she didn’t and immediately backed him because she knows he's not bluffing to try and win points for a battle he has no stake in. It shows they're not just aware of each other. They know each other.
Double fun fact! 1. The kiss that CC gives Lelouch is to preserve his memories (no romantic implications). That's why we see an image of this first kiss when CC kisses him the second time to break the seal in first episode of R2. The creators explained that this is how they would transmit this information to the audience. What does that mean? That CC knew that the Emperor had a Geass and what it did, just as she knew who took Nunnally and why. Lelouch hints at this as he enters the cave and wonders to himself if the target was him or CC. She knew that mysterious boy was looking for her and still pushed Lelouch into the trap. The question you have to ask yourself is why didn't she tell Lelouch any of this? 2. Code Geass was conceived as a one-season series of 50 episodes and there a draft of episode 26, which was called "The Eye of the Demon Emperor." Many things were used for the second season and others were discarded. There Lelouch shot Suzaku and Kallen let Lelouch go. He returned to the battlefield to confront the emperor, but he ended up being put under his father's Geass. Lelouch was captured and chained somewhere in a posture similar to that of Jesus Christ.
I disagree on the first part slightly. By this point you can assume some romantic implications especially after lelouch saw her past and said he would become a demon to compliment her being a witch. Not to mention how C2 says in that same episode she didn’t realize those feelings of love still existed inside her. By those 2 statements we can conclude that she DOES have feelings for him. Other than that I do agree with you.
Did anyone know that season 2 was supposed to be made of code geass it originally was supposed to be 1 season so imagine if it ended that way and didnt get continued
One of my favorite cliffhangers *ever* for sure! Simultaneously awesome and so frustrating. Love that final scene with Johnny Yong Bosch and Yuri Lowenthal just screaming at each other. They play these two so well; veterans of the voiceover industry, few do it better
Know it's a bit late but there are materials between season 1 and 2 audio dramas as well as a spin of series Akito the exiled. You've already seen season 2 but they still might be worth checking out. I hate how they deal with his abandoning them next season. One of the very bad pieces of writing. On the other hand I do like Lelouch says his sisters death is in the past which is exactly what his father said to him about his mother and with similar results. Quite like that the first time Arthur the cat named after a mythical British king helps Suzaku he immediatly gets called by a Britanian princess to knight him for his important service. The symbolism of Jupiter is rather obvious Geass is called the power of the king and Jupiter is the king of the gods in Roman mythology. Lelouch and CC were meant to be like a mother and son according to the writers don't know how people got the idea that they're a couple. That kiss is a terrible decision.
I agree with almost everything, but... They were very much not shown to be like a mother and son, that's for sure. Especially considering the audio and picture dramas. Lelouch has secondary thinly-veiled romantic tension with practically every major character. C.C., Suzaku, Kallen, Shirley - hell, even Euphy!
You are right about said thinly veiled romantic tension but the actual writers disagree and have said several times it was meant to be a mother son relationship which is why putting in romantic tension there was a bad idea. @@СарраКарагозян On top of the writers saying it this is also something you can piece together yourself, the whole series is heavily ripping of the original Gundam series with Lelouch as Char, Suzaku as Amuro, and CC fills the role of Lalah Sune who Char wanted to be a mother to him despite their clear romantic relationship.
I was original viewer, when this show aired... Yes, the ending was a knockout and we as viewers didn't even know if there will be a season 2, so we had to wait few YEARS in darkness....
I wouldn't say Black Knights are as simplistic as chess pieces: they are more than capable of thinking on their own. The human factor is important! They wouldn't be able to do as much without him, but the rebellion existed before him. Lelouch is one of the kind and geass aids him greatly, but it doesn't mean others are incompetent.
They are incompetent because Lelouch made them that way. He reformed the organization so that they would be his obedient pawns. He got rid of everyone who could not carry out his orders exactly. And people with at least some brains like Tohdoh and Ried were allowed into the Black Knights because Lelouch knows the train of their thoughts. And everything is centralized at Zero.
@@АнтонДолматов-с1ю Eh, not really? Competence does not equal the being able to adapt one's startegy at the drop of the hat, and having a centralized structure does not make anyone "his obedient pawns". Were he to geass them all I'd agree, but as it is... They were also capable to carry out his orders, and that alone NEEDS competent people. Desperately. Lelouch did reform organisation, but the chain of command is far more nuanced than you seem to think. Lelouch cannot control every aspect of battle - so he needs competent people to be in charge. They still have to answer to him, of course - and as we see, BK are put into even more of tight spot when Zero leaves. But it is to be expected - the only person who really could fill in for Zero is Todoh, and he is a tad too busy fighting. In short, it's not their incompetence, but it is the fact that they are leaning on Zero a lot and don't have anyone who could immediately step up on his role. Centralisation, as you put it! (Not that it's all that different from, say, Cornelia and her people.)
While the cliffhanger was brutal there wasn’t a 3 year wait for the next season. Not sure where that came from. 😂 The Japanese audience had to wait 8 or 9 months while the English broadcast aired a week after this episode aired. 😅😂 This was back when dubbing studios would wait until a whole season had already aired in Japan before they would even begin to start the dubbing process so the English version could seamlessly air in its entirety.
