I agree these guys stand by their products and their customers. Sent an email in and got a personal, unrushed call back shortly thereafter. Good value, performance scope for even a competition shooter, backed by outstanding support. I use mine for across-the-course competitions. Looking forward to trying it at 1,000 yard long range competition.
My new Argos was just delivered yesterday and the washers are included. The Turret detents are now crisp and audible. I haven't mounted it in yet but so far, no complaints

while this is a nice "trick", I'd never do it because now you limited the movement of the elevation. There are valid reasons to want to go below your zero Its easier to take a RAZOR BLADE and scratch a line extending the hash mark of where your zero is, then color fill that mark. you can clearly see where your turret needs to stop to return to zero.
G'day from the home of the Tassie Devil. Just bought an Argos BTR 6-24x50 to mount on my new Vudoo 3/60 MTU with a 40MOA rail and there does not seem to be an Instruction manual in the box but I guessed the bag of plastic washers were something to do with Zero stop. Now after watching this short video I am keen to head to the range and set it up for 50 metre BR and hope to try it soon for 200 metre Fly. Hitting a Blow fly at 200 Metres.

I've tried this with both plastic and metal washers and after raising elevation and returning to zero the screw that holds the turret cap on loosens up and the cap comes off
Put a dab of silicone in the bolt before threading it in. Also I'm not sure how the bolt is coming loose since the caps have a spline engagement from the looks of it.
Guys is there any difference in the internals between the Helos and Argos besides the locking turrets? I ordered a helos but honestly don't want locking turrets but do want zero stop. So maybe I should cancel my order
Hey just curious, Say you have a 5th washer there and you open up the hole some in the middle to sit a hair higher than the 4 you installed will this one work and not interfere with anything or the oring and 2 get you a little closer from going over zero? Another, if you used say copper, brass, stainless, or aluminum washers will this keep you from going further over since the material isn't really compressible like the plastic is? Was thinking of 3D printing a washer or machining one to the exact spec of my zero when I get this scope unless thats a no go for warranty reasons
For a more precise option for a zero stop shim kit, I would recommend machining a shim to the exact size needed for your specific zero. Using the same diameter of the washer provided, measure the depth needed for your specific scope and that will work perfectly. This process will not void the warranty.
Can anyone at Athlon post instructions for resetting the elevation turret back to the factory 'out-of-the-box' setting for a previously owned Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x50 FFP MOA IR scope. The zero stop set by the previous owner is at approx UP 55MOA position, inferred by the zero stop reading at the base of the turret cap which lines-up with the rotation '2' horizontal mark. The turret can only move UP from this zero stop by 55MOA effectively halving the potentially available 110MOA elevation range . My .308 rifle needs to be re-zeroed with this scope at 100 yds and the zero stop re-set to exploit the full range of elevation adjustment. The User Manual instructions do not cover this procedure nor do any of the RU-vid videos. Advise will be appreciated. London UK.
Dial your turret clockwise until you hit the end of travel. Count the number of MOA or MILS as you dial counter-clockwise. Divide that number by 2 and dial that amount clockwise.
A year following Trey's reply resulted a broader look at the Athlon scope offerings suitable for precision target shooting. Eventually that lead to a Rex RU-vid, also the same timeframe as Trey's post, on the Ares ETR 4.5-30x56 $1200 scope. A stickler for accurate turrets very surprisingly he found the Ares meet his standards for long range precision shooting. It gets better. He has determined this standard within reason can be obtained in the Midas line. The Midas is about half the cost of the Ares and double the cost of the Talos. BTR. Bottomline, I've some more sorting to do. And thanks to Trey, additional options to consider. BTW Rex puts the Ares ETR in the same class as Schmidt and Bender for a half to a third of the cost!
Why not pay more for a scope that performs at or around the level of many scopes that cost $1,200 to $1,500, is essentially what you're saying. If you like the scope, and like the price ... game on. If you are willing to pay more, and likely significantly more, for a scope with a built-in zero stop, that's a good option as well.
It will help you return to "zero"/range you first sighted in your rifle. So if you sighted at 100 yards, then adjust your elevation for a longer range shot, you can easily dial back down to return to your baseline.
Athlonoptics yes I have. Multiple times with no response. I don't care how good your product is however if your customer support sucks then in my opinion your product sucks. Some of the crappiest products have great customer service which makes them that much better. I understand you guys are a small company but come on.

Sorry to say that, but it sounds like bad joke for me... I wrote twice on this specified adress, on 2.11. and 16.11 from my gmail account, absolutely without response! How can we trust in in everywhere visible "lifetime warranty" if youe company isn't able to answer customer mails!? That's very sad for such company... And please, don't tell me you didn't received the mails, that's an old trick...
Which model do you have? The Argos BTR GEN2, MIdas TAC, Midas BTR GEN2 Ares ETR, Ares BTR, Ares BTR GEN2 and Cronus BTR all have zero stops. The only two scopes that ever used a zero stop washer were the Talos BTR and the Argos BTR (Gen1).
