I'm sure someone's told you, but you should run 5-10 foulers when switching ammo types. Also switching from 5 rd groups to 10rd groups isn't consistent. Sad to see you leave RU-vid, I like your 10/22, I wanna get a SBI chassis for my Ruger Target Tactical, they look good!!
If you really want to help your perormance. Polish the bolt and Take a Green Scotch Bright and polish up the inside of that Receiver. It will be so much smoother. Ruger is so bad about the overspray inside of the Receiver it is like Sandpaper. You will not believe the Difference it will make in the overall performance. I run a 20" Heavy SS KIDD on mine and still run a stock Bolt and Receiver polished up and it super Smooth and runs flawless.
You can do more to the bolt than just polish it out. It is a common thing to modify the back end of the bolt by applying the proper radius and then polishing it. I'd also suggest upgrading the firing pin and extractor. I use Volquartsen parts for this. Then I always modify the bolt release. It takes 3 seconds to make it an auto bolt release, which is super handy in competition. The suggestion of a Kidd barrel is spot on though. They are excellent. The trigger can be improved with Volquartsen parts like the target hammer, which is very economical, but worth every penny.
Single 5 shot groups is not a great way to compare. Simple clean between ammo type then a 10 shot foweling then a shoot 3-4 5 shot groups to get an idea of how each ammo will actually shoot.
I'll remember this for after the build. I will plan an ammo extravaganza and shoot multiple groups with each, using a spreadsheet to calculate the actual best at 50/100/200.
@@road2nrl22 Yeah I have been wanting to do a Video of full Kidd Barrel Ammo test myself. I pretty sure I am at 20 different from Bulk to Bench. I do not have a budget for Hi End for Matches. I Run SK Standard Plus with good results for my NRL22 Matches.
I get it, it is fun to play with a stock Ruger 10/22 and add parts to it, but really if you are serious get a KIDD barreled receiver from KIDD then go through building it out.
You need to upgrade the barrel. Depending on your purpose either Kidd Light weight or regular. I have a Volquartsen Carbon Fiber on my Speed open rifle. CLARK HEAVY .920 on my PRS 10/22
Get rid of that grip and get a vertical one and learn to shoot with your thumb on your trigger finger side. Should help greatly to get a consistent trigger pull
I haven't adjusted mine yet, but the trigger comes with instructions on how to. Reliability has been great so far. About to test with a new KIDD bolt and charging handle this weekend.
@@road2nrl22 Cool I picked one of those up as well Blk scalloped also bolt spring kit and handle Fired about 200 rounds so far federal super match did great / couple hang ups on the Norma Match the Norma Tac did good all pretty accurate when I can hold it there 20" KSA Fluted Barrel.

I have an adjustable camera mount and phone holder that I got on amazon canada for $30. It has 3 arms that I can use to mount it off the side of the workbench and have it over / in front of me while working on the gun.
