@ferndog1461 2 года назад
@@mikel6787 That is THE question, right now. Folks exiting the military, folks transitioning who can't perform like before due to wear n tear injuries,etc., all have this question. The tech industry is like scholarship college athletics. If you have talent & discipline, you are kept around. If you don't, you will be promptly bounced out on your @ss. Tech keeps changing. You have to spend your own time & money on retraining yourself on the next hot technology. If you learn quickly & are disciplined, which means your hours away from work have you studying the next big tech, do it. Peace.

I've been building control systems and working around Electrical Engineers for almost 10 years now. I'm over the manual labor and long hours so I decided to get into I.T. At almost 40 with a baby on the way, it's a bit scary but I've had experience with networking all types of devices, assigning IP addresses, connecting to cloud servers and PLC's in equipment that I've built so it's not entirely "foreign" to me. I'm currently studying for my CCNA and I'm excited to see where I can get started in this field. Thanks for content like this. It helps the many of us who are unsure of where to start or if we're doing it right, that we can have a lucrative career in IT and that there are a ton of resources to help us learn, grow and thrive!

Searched for weeks on 'Entry Level IT JOBS' finally watch your video and get my questions answered in the first 5 minutes man. Thanks for this one. I have done a lot of that legwork myself with the research. But I suppose what threw me off is just the sheer amount of information and misinformation out there on IT jobs in general. As someone hoping to break into the field and about to be a college grad with a non-applicable field of study (history major here) I realized man I want to work a job in IT but I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START, this video certainly helped. I would have one question for you though, is the CCNA something with 'zero' experience can attain? I just feel like what scares me most is you do the due diligence, research the field, get the cert, and start to apply for positions, and nobody will hire you because of that dreaded word 'experience'. How can it be an entry level position hiring if it requires 5 years experience? A lot of what I have noticed is a lot of companies now are requiring a subsequent degree in Computer Science now. I open that about the CCNA to all in the comments section. Thank you again for your video!

This is the first advice I've seen anyone talk about like this.. as a beginner myself! Took A+ core 1 a month ago and failed. Studying more before taking it again.

Great advice, I am in the process of leaving the military and am currently in search of an IT Job. I’ve been studying to become an ‘IT Specialist’ for the last year and don’t know how to take what I’ve learned and put it into something employers are looking for.

I've got Customer Support experience (would not say it's an IT job in itself). I'm currently learning about IT (html, CSS, SQL). Actually started couple weeks ago. How can I strengthen my chances of getting an entry level it job? I am very motivated to get into it but I feel that my lack of experience will get me nowhere (anytime soon maybe).

I’m not sure what I want to be in information technology but I just know that I’m gonna try to change careers from healthcare to the technology industry. Plus since I was young, I have always been getting good grades in technology lol so I see why not try to get into the industry but I don’t know where to start with no experience so that’s why I’m here watching this video lol. And I’m currently taking the Google certificate education program from Coursera online.

As someone coming from an implementation and software development background, I found this video extremely helpful with understanding how to transition into IT. BTW - That Outkast remix artwork in front of the American flag is dope! Would be so happy to find the source/collection.

If anyone is looking for Soc1 training look up Rangeforce community, the first 20 modules are free, and if you want full access and are a student you pay $150 for threat hunting, soc1, soc2, splunk, red team, purple team. Currently I am working on it and it’s a great way to get direct hands on training!.

When you were talking about applying even when the requirements did not match with your personal experience, I was doing that, hopefully I can land a data entry job to get my foot in the door. I’ve only worked in retail and I’m looking to better myself and start a career.

So I really want to get into Cybersecurity so I researched that passing the CISSP exam is the way to go….so I’m currently reading the (ISC)2 CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional Official Study Guide. I’m currently a computer operator for a large company where I do keep inventory records using multiple platforms including excel. Do you have any feedback on how I should go about breaking into cybersecurity? I’d love to hear it.

A lot of the requirements in job posts especially anything tech related its fluff made up by clueless HR people. An entry level job offering 40k-50k should not and does not require 5+ years experience on top of a degree and multiple certs.
