Hi thanks for watching and taking the time to subscribe.. That's an easy answer.. Those blades simply have a round hole in the center .. its designed that way so it's universal.. all you have to do is go to hardware store.. take the bolt with you.. buy a flat washer that's a bit larger than the head of the bolt and also a LOCK washer.. that should take up the space and allow the bolt to tighten down far enough while also locking it in place so it doesn't loosen up on you.. Don't worry it's perfectly ok to use washers.. the blade you bought is probably slightly thinner than the old ones.. after you install the bolt with the 2 washers and tighten it down pretty good it wont be loose or back off again.. be careful not to over tighten or you will have trouble removing on the next blade change.. let me know if everything is ok after you do this and test.. always glad to help

Thank you so much for the swift reply i will definitely try that out So the lock washer you mentioned is the one with a cut in it right ? Flat washer goes on first then the lock washer Ill reply if it works Appreciate it buddy

@MunkyWrench 6 месяцев назад
yes correct the lock washer has a cut in it and its offset so when it gets tightened it squeezes flat and keeps pressure on the bolt so it doesn't vibrate loose.. the flat washer should be larger in diameter than the bolt head and the lock washer should be the same as the bolt head.. the hardware guy will help you choose the correct one.. it's pretty straight forward.. let me know how it goes @@JacksonHekesi-iy3mm

Well it's not really a "box store" issue because John Deere sells the same exact mower. My ariens from Lowes works perfectly instead of going to a dealer and paying 45%-58% more for the same product. There's really no difference in buying from home depot vs ordering from JD or a dealer. Just a fluke set imho because those were pretty close to the edges of the deck anyways. Could have just been a bad grind on the blades and someone said "F it, just send it, save money" or better still, those actually look to be the wrong blades all together. Great catch though man!

There are huge huge differences between box store zeros and commercial.. in my opinion very few deere even come close to commercial no matter where u buy from. The pumps are cheap small and poorly made, the motors are about the same but spindles are same poor quality and cheap. The decks are punched out of thin steel where a commercial deck is 1/4 inch plate steel welded.. all bearings and moving parts on a commercial machine arr much better. I spend a ton of time on both box store and commercial machines .. thanks for your insight it has inspired me to do a video on the differences between box store and commercial. I'm glad u stopped by.. see u soon

@@MunkyWrench Well I can see your pov on that and maybe what I'm saying is the product itself not box store (residential purchased) vs box store (commercial purchased). So in THAT case, hell yea screw the "box store" stamped steel riders as people call it vs the commercial fab thicker deck etc. Yea man fire a video on that! like to see your thoughts on it because I too work on these all the time from house to house so I can relate. No shade at you by the way, I'm not a YT warrior lol

It effectively stopped the noise, but unfortunately, it did not resolve the underlying issue.

Jake did a similar video on his Eliminator Performance video about different size blades going on to stamped decks and fabricated decks. To get the customer going we needed to grind off 1/4" per end and balance on a set of 3 blades while we waited for the shorter blades to come in. By the way approximately 85% of new blades purchased are not balanced when we check them on our very sensitive ball bearing balancer purchased from Oregon. Sometimes it is only the paint that needs removal from one cutting edge but in some cases material removal is required. Looking forward to the parasitic load issue on the boat.

If he had bought it at the John Deere dealer ouch they are expensive at the dealership

He buys some parts at deere but way too expensive. He got these blades from local parts house. After checking found they gave him wrong blades. But goes to show sometimes weird stuff comes up lol

Nice find. I thought spindle as well, maybe a crack. Blades hitting, wow. I figured the gap between them would be large enough that that would never be an issue. 1/8 inch off with the grinder would be a fix for new blades. Odd that the same length old blades didn't also touch. Mystery??? Probably spindles and slightly out of balance blades. I'd caution the owner that new spindles are in the future. On a different front, mine. I was able to get a 2007 Craftsman DLS3500 for free. It looks like it has been sitting for several years, all tires flat, cracked and have to be replaced. It had become a habitat for small insects, hornets nests under the panel, and stinkbugs under the engine cowling. The owner, an old man died, and his adult children are making trips to the dump (20 so far) so they can sell the home and property. Big things like the mower, were free if you can haul it away. I have about 5 hours into it so far, got it to crank real strong, cleaned up nice, gas tank repair, and will attempt to get it running today. It looks like it will be a big score $$$wise once I put 4 new tires on it. 😁

I know where he bought the blades so I checked with them and they had in fact given him the wrong bladed after lots of checking. They gave him a set of correct blades and all was well. Just goes to show that sometimes freaky stuff happens... on your free haul the good thing is bugs and age can only keep a good machine down for a short time lol sounds like a runner for sure. I'm lucky enough to have a mower junkyard close by and can get good used tires for 30 a set .. I also get them from scrappers.. they always have riders to sell. U should make friends with a few.
