That shop you found is amazing! I used to shop on a site called "uncommon goods" that is sort of similar here in the U.S but I will let you know if I find any others. Thank you so much for collabing with me and helping to build our community (:
I thought it was really cool that you and Shelby did a video on the same topic. I was trying to decide which to watch first. I'm so glad the zero waste RU-vid community is close knit enough to collab. Thanks to both of you for influencing my journey so much.✨
Both you and Shelby are in my notifications this morning I follow you both because you both embody the same values! Thanks for showing community over competition!
Thank you so much for this! Love how you’re promoting companies and other youtuber’s videos and not just another RU-vidr making personal profit from your videos! And I’m so excited to join your zero waste challenge- I’m often choosing plastic packaging for ‘lower calorie’ diet products (due to ed past) but I KNOW I need to choose more ethical, natural foods to look after my body and the planet properly! Thank you for being you (and for reading all of this if you managed 😅💛) xx
I can't believe my two favourite youtubers collaborated! I found your channel through the recommendations on the side of Shelbi's videos 🙈 I absolutely adore you both!!! I'm in shock that you've collaborated! Thank you for sharing your tips 😍 xx
I follow both you and Shelby so it's so cool seeing you guys work together! I crocheted scarves for my family and friends this year for Christmas, with yarn that was made in the USA! I also made them all peppermint lip balm as well. I could personalize the scarves for each person by asking what color they wanted, and the only waste really was the paper around the yarn, which I recycled. I'm really happy I found a zero waste, cheap, and ethical way to gift to my family and friends this year!
I started my zero waste journey about 6 months ago, and your videos have been so helpful. Thank you so much for all of the tips, research, recipes and encouragement ! Coming to terms with minimalism is not easy, but seeing someone with such strong convictions has definitely helped me establish and hold on to mine. Thanks for all of your hard work!
I bought a muffin in pret the other day - I asked for no tissue/bag or anything. At first the lady was bewildered and wanted to at least give me a bit of paper to take with it, I had to be quite firm with refusing it, but as soon as I explained that I just want to do my best to not throw out too much excess packaging, she was actually really moved and gave me the muffin on the house :) totally lovely soul! ❤️
My mom has been wrapping gifts in scarves and pretty bits of fabric for many years! It’s so beautiful and also if you’re into sewing like me it’s a little extra present. ☺️
Love your videos! They are so soothing and nice to watch, love your music choice and of course all of the ideas and inspiration and your message in general. Happy zero wasting!
I've always felt all this christmas time and gifting so hard, and even harder since I'm trying to go zero waste. I think of making handmade christmas tree ornaments, crocheted, origami and sewn to my family and crotchet face scrubbies for the girls, but I fear that they won't appreciate it. I also think so much of those, who are in a worse situation at christmas than us and kind of feel bad because of them. We have a programe here, you put a set of gifts in a shoebox, wrap it and the local charity sends it to children in need. I'm making it now, but it still seems so little.
I'm so excited for the 30 day challenge! I've moved in with my boyfriends family following my MA and it's been quite hard to be as zero waste as I'd like as it's easier to fall into their habits than uphold my own. I need to get my arse back in gear tbh. Thank you for this wonderful gift guide too, I'm sure I'll be coming back to this video again and again!
This video is perfect! Thank you for introducing us to Wearth!! I am also very excited for January as I'm hoping to really cut down and go as zero waste as i can in the new year! X
You are so amazing, beautiful and pure person and I value your choice to share these resources with everyone. The zero waste movement it so important although it can be difficult around the holidays. Thank you for sharing these wonderful gift ideas
Tip for wrapping in a scarf/cloth... place the gift in diagonally, that way the ends taper and are a bit longer in order to tie them together! Just started wrapping that way this year, and find it a fun way to give!
Thank you for making this! I live in New Zealand but that has inspired me to look into local producers of the kind of goods mentioned here. I've also shared it with friends and family (who are not personally zero waste) in the hopes that it'll, at the very least, make them more aware. You're doing a bang up job hun, so grateful for all of your content.
This video is so great ! It's perfect for christmas time and so complete ! It's also very nice that you recommend some other zero waste youtubers because they're kind of a struggle to find... I wish there was a french zero waste youtuber because I'm French and as you've said, it's nice to have recommendations from someone in your own country. Also very excited about the challenge coming up in january :D
Iamaproudbookgeek Tu peux suivre Audrey redac.
Thank you for sharing this! I am by no means zero waste, but I try to get better, and these are such good ideas. I especially love your idea of using scarves to wrap presents in, it looks so beautiful. And giving away experiences rather than physical stuff is also a great idea. One tip for those interested is also to make your own edible gifts. You can for example make a huge batch of cookies or something like that and put in glass jars and give out to lots of friends and family :)
Hi from New York! Thank you for collaborating with an American RU-vidr- I’m definitely going to check her out! I wish I could be in London though- how I love it there! Thanks for your wonderful videos. I love and appreciate them very much!
Great video very useful information! I've been subscribed to both you and Shelbi for a long time so it's great to see two of my favourite youtubers doing a collab!
I handmade all my Christmas cards this year, it was so fun, I honestly don’t know if it was cheaper but I had more fun and it felt more personal. I got some card stock and foam and made some stamps. I had some paints my Aunty gave to me because she didn’t need them so I guess it’s kinda of reused. I love Christmas it’s just such a nice time
I’m really happy I watched this video as you and Shelby are my favourite RU-vid vloggers and I adore your channels. You’ve both been my inspiration and you gave me lots of local insight as I live in London too. Thank you
I have only just recently found your channel and ive watched all of your videos all ready 😂 I am going to try make your tortillas tonight xxx thankyou so much for this channel. Im trying my hardest to be as zero waste as I can and your realness definitly helps and gives me that support that im not a totally noob 😂❤
Thank you for the resources. I appreciate your hard work putting together the list of companies and for your continued efforts in zero waste living. I can't wait to hear about the 30 day challenge! Happy Christmas!!
Wow! You put a lot of effort in this video! I love it, thank you so so much.I have been using scarf and old tin containers for little minimal gifts for the last three years. Thank you for spreading the loving message of volunteering, donating.Warm greetings from freezing Netherlands P.S. My favourites are the recycled silver rings & the whale necklace, great finds, I love these kind of companies
I love your long videos! They are so reliable, informative and relaxing! The bad thing about this video, is I want all those things from Wearth for myself! And I love those Elephant boxes! Lots of great ideas! I’m curious about if it’s better to buy from Wearth or direct from the artisans. I see some of them have their own websites. Thanks for all of this info, and I can’t wait for your makeup video!
A good zero waste present is digital itens/services. Like a game at Steam, a film in Google play or a subscription at a good online service like Audible!
I think the whale fluke necklace would be a great gift for someone who is a supporter or crew member of Sea Shepherd. Oh and I just remembered, a zero waste gift I'm making this year is a holiday fund jar for my sister. I'm going to paint the jar and use a stencil, then maybe put a few treats inside! And I think that stainless steel straws could be added to the list of gifts in chapter two, for people that regularly use straws . For my wrapping paper this year I'm going to reuse a load of brown paper that my wooden shelves got delivered in. There's enough for all my gifts I think. I'm going to use paints to make prints on them, ribbon and twine, maybe some bells if I can find some :)
Really, really great video, it's so amazing that you put so much effort into this video, as well as giving examples and advice for everyone 🙈 thank you :) great that you talked about giving, i will give a speech about that to my children's group from church shortly before Christmas, to show them how great giving (to the planet, to people, to animals) can actually be.
thank you so much for this video! I am currently in a struggle about finding zero waste gifts for my not-zero waste beloved ones and you made a very good guide/overview. PS: you are great
You are so lovely 😊 it’s so nice watching you! And you are the first gift guide youtuber which talked about giving to the poor ones ❤️ which is eye catching.. you care, you really do great stuff, you inspire others.. it’s so so lovely ❤️❤️❤️😀😀😀😀😊😊😊😊😊😊😍😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗
Shared Earth is an amazing ethical gift shop. They have a branch in York and another place in the UK but I'm not sure where (it says on their website though) or I think you can shop online. It's a little bit pricey but everything there is really beautiful - I'm really lucky to live just a 15-minute bus journey away.
really good video! this christmas im gonna give my family illustrations because im unemployed and dont have money haha but i think its pretty zero waste (becuase im just using old art supplies i already have)
Hi! For the kit, I was thinking more along the lines of a basic home kit such as bandages, ointment, gloves, pain pills. For the ointment, pure manuka honey works really well. Finding alternatives to the plastic adhesive band aid is a bit challenging.
i love the way you share your values and how you always provide me with more information about this amazing world! keep doing it, i also love the info about the companies you talk about, it is sooo valuable! thank you
Great video! If you live in London you can volunteer at Crisis for Christmas (charity in the UK that helps single adults that are homeless, and they organise christmas parties each year to help the homeless) or donate money to them and/or the organisation Shelter (charity in the UK that helps homeless families). I did hold workshops in knitting for Crisis for Christmas a couple of years back and it was just so much fun! If I still lived in London I would go back and do that again! :)
Sustainably Vegan I didn't know you linked to this ones but when you mentioned charities volunteering / donating I thought I must share my experience to inspire others! I also think it gives you a very different perspective volunteering in a shelter. I was in the women's shelter where only the rough sleepers are referred to. It was women of all walks of life, most you could never imagine being homeless if you met them, and they had been rough sleeping in London! I cannot imagine how that would be like. They were all amazing human beings I smile just from the memory :)
Yey a 20 min long video from you! I wonder how did you communicate to your family that you don't accept any physical gifts? It can be kinda harsh. And more in general, how do you communicate you message in person to people without hurting their feelings and instead leave them with a positive feeling about reducing waste or going vegan. I find that people get defensive, and sometimes a bit aggressive because they are afraid they have to change their life.. How do you avoid that? Like always, thank you so much for all the inspiration! :)
Well I never said I don't want gifts - I just constantly talked about the activism I was doing online and it began to rub off - then this year I was like would you mind buying me things I can consume or just experiences as I have everything I want and need and they said yes that sounds like a great idea ! So it's all about introducing the idea in a calm and logical kind of way 💚
Thank you for this lovely video, you are a wonderful person. If I can add one idea sorry if you mention it, please forgot sometimes we can offer something we already used like books or clothes... means don’t need to buy a new one from shop or second shop we can first have a look in our own home to see if something can make someone happy. And I like as well the idea of offering the service like « 5 cleaning/ washing car » or « 3h babysitting » or again « 6 sessions of learning activities ». Have a lovely evening.
I love this idea with the book! I also think a lovely message in the book about passing it on once you are done with it could be fun! I have a book I need to pass on where people write their name and the year they read it. I just need to find the right person as it's in Swedish and I do live in an English speaking country :P
One idea I just thought of while watching, is that you could pick a zero waste craft to learn- so it could be knitting, making candles or soaps, canning food, etc... And then all year while you are learning your skill, you make gifts. So one year everyone will get a candle and another year everyone will get knit items, one year everyone gets jewelry, another year it's upcycled tshirt crafts, etc. And each year you learn a new skill that you can use to increase your sustainability... What do you think?
Aloha! Amazing video! Im coming from Shelbizlees channel. Loving how youtubers collaborate together as one because we all are shooting for the same goal❤
Thumbed it up before I even ran the video because I know your videos are always great. EDIT: Having watched the video, what about giving to an animal habitat charity, environmental charity, oceanic protection charity - or any charity, for that matter. That's zero waste, and helps the planet and those in it. No?
I hope somebody gets me zero waste products for Christmas I would really enjoy having candles or makeup for Christmas lol 😊 I am enjoying your video I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New 🎄🎊🎉🎀🤗
