Don't use citrus oils or vinegar as they could strip natural stone. I don't have granite in my home but I've heard this is a good recipe: -1/4 cup vodka or rubbing alcohol -a few drops castile soap -10 drops of essential oil (melaleuca, eucalyptus) -fill the rest up with filtered water (in a 16oz spray bottle)
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with all the different recipes for various homemade cleaning products. I keep coming back to this video as reference and inspiration as its so simple and clear. Please make more like this! I'm curious to know if you make your own laundry powder/liquid? Would love a video on this.
I feel the same way! Simplifying my routine also helps me reduce stress, it's the only way for me. :) I'm currently buying a powder detergent that comes in a paper box. I'll see if I can think of other simple cleaning diys for another video!
We've been using primarily natural products to clean our house for so long that I get a headache now when I walk through the cleaning aisle of the grocery store. There are some recipes in here though that I didn't know about!
I am exactly the same way, and having a hard time at work, looks like lots of people swim in a pool of perfume before coming to work, when you get off the elevator, can sense all this junk in the air, my eyes hurt...
I'm a guy and live alone and i like trying natural things for cleaning I did what you said vinager and a few drops of essential oil since I didn't had lemon I put an essential oil I'm using the name is grapefruit pink but what stinks nasty is the vinegar omg that stinks I haven't used that in my life is the first time but one thing i noticed when i was cleaning and wiping with some cotton towels since i have problems with nasal congestion I starded to feel better like I was able to breathe normal i was like what happened here why am i breathing without problems i don't know if it was the vinegar or the essential oil but I felt good lol plus my washroom and toilet were shiny also I cleaned the kitchen my room as well it was weird breathing good for once in a long time cause I wasn't able to breathe in like 10 years but anyways great video it helped me clean my house. 🙏 Next time I'll use lemon essential oil I just ordered a 30ml one

I love this updated version of your cleaning video from last year ! :) I'm always afraid to buy fizzy drinks and other bottles because so far, I've never found one that fits the attachment I have. :) haha. But I should keep persevering ! Because for now the little bottles that came with those spray attachments are plastic and they are super annoying as they "smush themselves" because of the pressure. Anyways, when you meant "cleaning routine" I thought you were going to show us the routines you have, as in "how often you clean this, and that, how long it takes" etc :) I think that would be a great idea for a video.
Oh, that's a bummer! I've used Perrier and Pellegrino bottles with my spray tops. I think my original plastic containers were 16 oz. That is a great idea for a video, thanks for suggesting!
Hello Alli, super informative video ! Also, would you consider making one about your hair ? They're so beautiful and shiny and I would be interested to know your routine ! Thanks a lot, Love from Paris ;)
How do you kill the black mold that is in showers. I bought the house used and I had black mold in my apartment so it seems to follow me around. I have killed it with tilex and tee tree oil but it comes back. I have shampoo bottle that may be reinfecting the shower? Where did you buy the glass spray bottles. Plastic don't last long particularly if you use them outdoors.
Really great video with awesome information. I noticed your castile soap was in a large glass container. Do you buy that in bulk? I live in Ontario Canada but would love to know if that is an option and could may be source closer to my home.
Hi. I am starting to make my own organic cleaners. Is apple cider vinegar ok to use or does it need to be white? If white, is it important to be organic? Does regular white vinegar have harmful ingredients in it. Also do you make your own laundry soap and shampoo?? Ty 🙂
I've been really enjoying exploring DIY cleaning recipes and zero waste principles in my cleaning routine but one place I'm having trouble with are my bathroom floors! I have the recipes down pat but am wondering if you know of any tools/techniques for cleaning these areas? I can use an old toothbrush on the tile grout but for the smaller tile areas (example: behind toilet area), I'm wondering what kinds of tools you might use? Mops don't really fit around there.
this is such an informative video, thank you! i am living in my first apartment, so trying to figure out how to do all of these things in a way i feel most comfortable, if that makes sense. may i ask where your glass soap dispenser is from (your kitchen hand soap)? thanks!
Hi Alli. You look so naturally beautiful in this video. How are you getting your hair so shiny? Would you consider doing a tutorial for this makeup look you are wearing in the video? I hope you are having a great week:)
That's so sweet, Kristin! :) I curled my hair with a curling wand for this video, that usually helps tame the frizz. I like to use hair oil to condition my hair, I'll have to make a video about it soon!
Do you take your large glass jug to the store to refill your Castile soap? Our coop sells bulk Castile but it's expensive. Wondering if there is a more inexpensive way to by Castile soap low waste! Thanks Alli!
I saved this container (it's an apple juice container!) with the hopes of finding a local place to refill it with soap. Unfortunately, a co-op in San Diego was the closest bulk soap location I could find! I bought the gallon sized container of soap from my local health food store instead and poured it in here. Obviously not the best option, but I prefer it over buying lots of small containers.
New subscriber here! I enjoyed your video. I am using some homemade cleaning products. My next one I want to make is the toilet bomb. I am yet to find citric acid though. I'm in Australia. I'll have to look online I guess. When you pop it in the toilet do you use a brush to clean after it's stopped fizzing or during?
I need all these recipes! Thanks for sharing. I need to write these down so i can make my own stuff. I'm currently finishing up all my cleaning products i have right now and going to start fresh. what do you use to do your laundry? I'm very curious about that. i already substitute fabric softener with vinegar already.
Good for you, Amy! I'm currently using a powder detergent that came in a cardboard box. I don't remember the name, but I got it at my local health food store.
Alli Cherry 😊 I don't measure either cooking or making products. Funny how some of us can do that. Those are the correct measurements for hand soap. 💕👍
I actually bought mine in a gallon size (in plastic) because I can't buy it in bulk near me. The glass bottle is a repurposed apple juice container! Some whole foods locations have bulk castile soap, check your local co-op too.
Do you have pets? And if so, how would this affect them? Did you research it because I know plenty of essential oils are deadly to dogs as well as cats.
Thank you for another great video! I am so making those toilet bomb.. haha.. 😅 btw.. thank you for linking where you got the dredger for baking soda - I wanted to find something like that for ages (how hard can it be? 🙄)
Curious, when you make a cleanser, how long does it last? Do they last a while and you just give it a shake when needed? or do you make small batches at a time, if so how often? Sorry for long question.
Don't be sorry! :) I got through the 16oz bottles every 2 weeks or so. The mixtures separate naturally so I do shake them a bit before using. I usually eyeball the recipes when I remake them and that takes me under 5 minutes. Hope that helps!
Natural does not always equate to safe. Granted some things are less toxic than others, but everything becomes toxic at some point when used in excess. There is a popular misconception that because essential oils are derived from plants, they must be safe. Unfortunately people can and have been injured by essential oils. Mostly due to misuse. But even with proper use reactions can still occur. The most common is burns to the skin and rashes. Like you I prefer to do things natural. But what defines natural? That depends on where a person draws the line between natural and man made. The purest definition of natural is "occurring in nature without human intervention." Wild berries growing on a mountain side would meet that definition. But in today's world most things go thru some processing. Essential oils are derived from a natural source, plants. But so is Tequila, and both essential oils and tequila go thru almost an identical process to create the final product. Is Tequila all natural? Does it bear risks? I will let you decide. Turpentine comes from pine trees. That sounds natural to me. Is it safe? What about crude oil? Its naturally occurring and organic. Is it safe? I will let you decide. What about essential oils? Are they all natural? I know nature provided the plants, but man extracts and concentrates the plant oils beyond anything nature has to offer. Nature never gave us the final product in that little glass bottle. Major corporations did.
