Why does nobody talk about flushing the filters? I’ve seen about 4 “how to …” vids and nobody is saying that you need to flush the filters Twice before they can be used.

That is what I was going to say. I seemed to recall you had to run a pitcher or 2 through to clean/prime the filter.. I just changed mine, after the first picher I chekced the TDS, it was 54. After the secind rinse( 2 full pitchers) it is reading zero as it should

I'm glad you mentioned that. You got me to look it up. Zero Water says it's not necessary ("Unlike other popular filters, our filters do not need to be soaked, flushed, or otherwise prepared prior to using.") But Coconut Oil Crazy was getting a TDS of 54 (which isn't really that terrible, if I understand all this crazy water filtering stuff correctly). I think I'll skip the flushing, but I can see why it might be a good idea to do that.

I am not able to screw in the new filter. Did they change the threads or something?

It’s for sure different. I went to replace my old pitcher because it was old and gross and I got the 7 cup which is smaller but the filter that came with it is the same and it absolutely does not screw in to the 7 cup pitcher. I dug the old pitcher out of the garbage to see and the filter that came with the 7 cup screwed right in no problem. So now I’ve got the New filter from the new 7 cup pitcher on the old pitcher and a useless 7 cup pitcher. Booooooo!

If they changed the threads the company should have indicated it somewhere. These things are not cheap! I'm stuck with filters that don't fit!

My mistake world. Frustration got the best of me. I dropped the replacement filter in from the top of the filter chamber and tried to screw it in. The correct way is to screw it in from the bottom. When you know better, you do better! 🙂

What about washing the pitcher before replacing tbe filter? Mine had a grey color on the top. I washed it clean.

How do u know when they need changing? Mine’s just trickling out at half usual speed now and I’ve not filtered really more than about 50 litres…

Mine has an electronic tester that you can use to check the water cleanliness. Not sure what you do if you don't know that. If the water is coming out slower it might just be that there are air bubbles building up which you can release by opening it and draining water out of the top
