Took Zeroy out to Wednesday night test and tune to see what kind of numbers I could put down! Can't wait until next time! BLACK FRIDAY DEALS LIVE AT MIDNIGHT - LZMFG.com
Engine: I'll send a rod through this block Transmission: I bet I make this car go nowhere Differential: : "Hold my beer" Kaboom lmao Happy Thanksgiving all
ZERO DISRESPECT! But learn to preload 😂 you dumping clutches like your drifting is causing all the problems. I broke 2 axles before i learned to preload an launch properly. Honestly works wonders!
Adam LZ when i broke my axles i was preloaded on the ebrake too! But if release clutch to fast off preload cars tend to wheel hop and thats when they really kill driveline parts.
It won't matter, if he can't put the power down. The entire drive train needs to be beefed up, and most the suspension needs to be strengthened as well it can't handle the power he has now!
Spook if I built a car with this much effort just to play video games in it the reality of the matter is it will never meet video game reliability standards 😂
Adam: *Blows Diff* "Saw that coming..." Also Adam 2 minutes later: " I honestly didn't think that was going to happen" hahaha, total bummer but that's racecar life man! Build, race break and repeat
That would be useful for when the car gets its built engine and runs on a lot more power. For now they gotta make the car go A to B without having to worry about breaking it.
Slipper clutch would be overkill! He just needs a twin disc an learn how to preload, the kids a drifter hes use to just dumping clutches. Thats not how drag racing works though unfortunately.
Nick Stevenson he knows how to slip a clutch. He slipped it when it broke but the diffs are weak and it was too much load when it dead hooked. Even Leroy has been thru built transmissions and diffs slipping a clutch, but when it dead hooks with a lot of load it’s so much torque to the driveline that shit just breaks
Tyler Chedister if he slipped the clutch then why do the rpms drop right off 2step at 4500 to 3000, instead of climbing like they should if it was slipping?!?! Ive been drag racing for 8 years everytime I preload a car and slip the clutch the rpms climb not drop. I launch off 7250 on slicks an ive only broke the splines off the axle in the hub twice from dead hooking. Never exploded a diff that’s usually improper driving from what ive seen personally at the track. Usually wheel hop causes diffs to blow, mostly from dumping the clutch...even when preloaded if let clutch out to fast all hell breaks loose
Happy Thanksgiving! This year of content has been amazing! Hope the rest of the year goes just as well! I bet 2020 will be the year of the Super Flex! Edit: I love that you're doing a drag build! It's definitely tough on parts, but once you get it figured out and make a killer pass, it's all worth it!
Correct me if im wrong, but i thought you were supposed to use radial tiresnfor manual cars, and bias plies for automatics. The reasoning i was told was because the radials will spin and take some stress off the axles and diff in a manual car. And in an automatic you can get away with bias plies cuz they hook harder but the torque converter slips and doesnt put as much shock on all the drive components.
nah, that's backwards. radials have stiff sidewalls that shock the drive train in a manual and the impact breaks shit. the soft side wall biasply slicks take the shock out of the gear changes. autos have a high rpm stall converter that slips and takes the shock out of the drive train, so it doesn't matter
Great content! Sorry about the diff/driveshaft... listening to everyone pull their feet off the track while pushing the Z back though was pretty funny... Happy Thanksgiving! Hope to make it out to the open house !
I actually really appreciate this series. This is how it’d be for the VAST majority of us if we took on a project like this. We’d have to go for an affordable and often times wrecked/salvaged car and do things quickly/cheaply. These are the issues and brick walls you run into with a build. Keep on with this beast🤙🏽
Like it when u are so honest and real. Not scared to show your bad moments. Keep it up and stay with your feet on the ground or in your case on the pedals
#AdamLz #Zeroy Hats off to you for trying your hand at a whole new motor sport that can be quite brutal. Seriously thought front to back immediate problems I can see, and other things that I believe would help prevent future carnage (I grown up with drag racing my whole life) 1. Polyurethane motor mounts (or something to stabilize the motor more) 2. Bigger, Better transmission cross member with a poly mount. The cross member needs to connect the two frame rails, and it can't just bolt to the floor pan. Look at how the Burnout Kings in Australian reinforce their chassis (box and solid weld every structural joint/component possible) and apply this knowledge to your car build. (High rpm launches tend to cause stress fractures in sheet metal... spot welds will break, sheet will literally rip apart. ) Drag racing is a fight against the clock but also extreme shock loads and torsional twist to virtually every component of the car, anything you can do to mite gate or eliminate that is a step in the right direction. 3. All the rear suspension needs to go... If Zeroy really hooks and the drive train holds, it will start pretzeling all those little chamber arms, upper and lower swing arms, traction arms, toe arms, and the cast parts will crack and break from the extreme shock loads. I don't think you need bullet or titanium parts by any means, but something stronger than stock. Coil overs YES at least on the rear, so you can adjust it for the launches. Bigger sway bars do help despite what every one says "It's dead weight!" it helps mite gate the torsional twist of the rear end suspension, helping the car to drive straighter making your life easier. I would try and avoid solid mount bushings and seek out poly mounts when ever possible, they are more forgiving and less likely to break components. 4. The pinion end of the diff needs support. Pinions try and climb when launched hard, this is why the back of the case is broken. The nose off the diff climbs because of the directional change of torque (it was going straight thru the drive shaft, than the diff trys to tell the power "It's time to make a left and right turn to the tires" so you can use it. This is why the car squats (ideally the car has little to no squat... Watch the Australian drag cars, they are really good at accomplishing this.) Simply put the suspension along with the diff is literally trying to do a back flip under the car. The old school solution was called a pinion snubber ( a rubber bump stop at the pinion end of the diff... this can be very harsh and the floor boards need to be properly reinforced to with stand this solution) The more modern solution is a torque arm. (I'm not going to try to explain, lots of science and this message is long enough already, it is very do able if you take the time to do it right) I would like to end by saying this "I personally would call the AMS GTR Skyline guys and see what they suggest as some suspension parts interchange with the 370z and they mite have some good advise." Thanks for taking the time to listen. Best wishes.
"it doesn't like to shift quickly" if your referring to when you let the clutch back out and it doesn't engage quick enough does it have a factory helper spring on the clutch pedal you need to take off?
you should make a video of your 335i and it just sounds so good with the exhaust and the pops it makes and your 240SX S13 just sounds so good with the exhaust and the pops it makes and i love the pop up headlights and you should make some videos of driving racing drifting drag racing and dyno videos of all the cars that would be sick and you should make some videos of doing tail of the dragon with all the cars that would be sick and you should make an update video on all the cars it has been awhile lol
@adam lz for future reference at the drag strip if you have a pass like your first one please please please just pull over to the side right away and have them check if anything is broke and leaking. If you cracked a rear diff case or trans case you would have just drug oil allllllllll the way down the track costing a very time consuming clean up. It's a courtesy thing!
ADAM STOP BREAKING ZEROY Edit: also Adam stop using launch controll as all it does is damage. You can pick up your dad in the s13 or s15 Also happy Thanksgiving even though I'm british
Happy Thanksgiving! If you're going to gear that car to burnouts and drag racing, ditch that manual and get a Powerglide to drop in. You'll go faster and it's better for burnouts.
You’re going to keep blowing HG in the car. You either need a billet block, or Darton sleeves to keep the cylinders from distorting. Then your input shafts become questionable when trying to make a 1000whp plus. After that you might want to consider a stand alone when you’re approaching those power levels or a really good tuner and switch over to Ecu tek.
my favourite thing about adam is that as much as hes a bonafide drifter i love how he does other disciplines of racing especially that he shows it as content and i love the stance and look of the z with those drag wheels
Cleetus had the diff breaking issue for a long long time, i think it is the better to spend the money and upgrade it or do something special like a zr1 diff or something, rather than just to replace it.
Your just going to have to have built everything with that car haha. I never ran my cars g35s and 350z higher than 3-3500 rpms off the launch and I just ride out the clutch to keep it rolling and not spinning or breaking stuff as far as stock goes, but I never ran mine in the 700hp range either lol looks fun keep up the rippin also I did have one cd009 that didn’t shift as quick as my other ones, not sure why that was besides it had the stock gear oil in it, and with my other ones it’s either Lucas racing gear oil or a mixture of Lucas and normal weight and that way it shifts better when cold.
dude, there are these shacks all over the place in florida called "twice the ice" that is substantially cheaper than everywhere else, and they give you more. look into it
That drift leg will break stuff every time. Use hand brake to preload and don't worry about "hard launch" until you're used to slipping it. Start at like 2k and drive it off the line...
You’ll get there eventually Adam! I remember when you did you first tandems and look where we are now. One year and you have a killer Z and you’ll be good at drag racing! Can’t wait to see that happen :)
It would be really cool if you made a professionally filmed street drifting video. You could make multiple videos with different cars and it could be really dope!!
Jimmy Breedlove because Adam is a drifter not a dragster, maybe Cleetus can Make it run 11 but Adam is going to run 12 - 13 all day I’m this thing with how much experience he has and plus his set up is too weak for drag he took a 600 hp car on a sticky track with a drivetrain only to handle 300
If that's going to be a dedicated drag car you'll most likely continue to struggle to go fast with that trans and rear end combo. Top of 4th gear will only be around 115mph, and the CDxxx isnt 1:1 until 5th gear. You need to run through almost 5 gears to run anywhere close to your goal of 9s or 10's, but 1/4 of the time you're goin down the track you're in between gears.
Maybe it would be worth getting a clutch that isn’t as harsh so it doesn’t grab as hard. Would potentially make it easier to slip and prevent u from breaking stuff.
Florida doesn't really have vehicle inspection or emissions. There are only a couple reasons a vehicle would have to be inspected. Here in Arkansas there is no vehicle inspections or emissions at all.
You need subframe and diff bushings along with a Bell Raceworks diff brace to be able to launch it. Do all of that and you'll be good, the axles will handle it!
Do the Aussie thing and put a Dash Mat on the dash to cover the exploded air bag (essentially its carpet , lol . you can buy them pre made in Australia, RHD though)
It's okay Adam, you are just figuring out the car and the weak points. However, It is pretty cool seeing you drag racing man! I can wait for the next Zroy videos
Damn adam your the only one that I have heard that broke trans, drive shaft, diff your definitely taking all those parts to there limits in a very strange manner brother lol
