Here is my Zetron Model 25 that I have set up similar to my county’s Motorola MCC7500 Paging Console, which before the MCC7500s used Zetron Model 25s. In this video I am demonstrating my favorite paging format, Motorola Quik-Call (2+2), as well as Motorola Quik-Call II and DTMF. The Model 25 is probably my favorite modern paging console!
SPECS:
Voltage: 12VDC
Instant Call Buttons: 86 (Excluding Clear and send buttons)
Paging Formats:
~Two Tone Sequential~
-Motorola Quik-Call (2+2)
-Motorola Quik-Call II
-GE Type 99
-Reach Two-Tone
-Custom 1+1 (Plectron, Federal Signal, Custom Timing, ETC…)
~DTMF~
-Standard
-Knox
~5/6 Tone Sequential~
~2805/1500 Hz Rotary Dial~
~Digitone~
~Golay Sequential~
*DISCLAIMER: TRANSMITTING ON UNAUTHORIZED FREQUENCIES AND MALICIOUSLY ACTIVATING SIRENS IS ILLEGAL BY FEDERAL LAW. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISUSE OF FREQUENCIES OR PAGING TONES*

I operated one of these from mid 1980s? to mid 1990s. Worked like a charm. It would Motorola QC1, QC2, GE99, SECODE Digital dialing, DTMF, PLECTRON, you name it. Brings back memories.

I used to live down in southern California in the 70's and 80's and had a scanner that would pick up LA Co. Fire dispatch. I'd heard those tones quite often. Seeing this video takes me back to those days :) Thanks.

Np, yep LACoFD and other California dispatches used Motorola Quik-Call 1 I may have a video that I based on LACoFD

They didn't have HTs much in use so they'd run the radio through their siren's PA. You would hear those 2+2s for blocks around. Same for sheriff. Deet, deet, deet. Always knew when either was in the neighborhood. Grew up and became an EMT and worked with LACoFD so heard them all the time then as well. Plus had a scanner.

I learned of these tones from Emergency! Which took place in the 70s in Los Angeles. Always thought it was cool the bigger the problem the more tones they'd send out

Not all model 25s can do Quik-Call 1. Only certain ones ordered with it on it. I believe however any Model 25 that has DTMF on it also has QC-1 and vice versa due to the two formats are on the same chip or eprom.

When sending long strings of tones, QC1 is better, the tones are shorter.

do all the QC2 tones need to be pre programmed or can you send them from the panel. I am trying to build a command center for my Firehouse. Is the model 25 capable of Qc2 tones from every group?

@QuikCall4623
@QuikCall4623 2 года назад
The tones that you are calling “Trail tones” are Motorola Quik-Call 1 Tones (2+2 2-Tone Sequential Signaling). My county used to use Motorola Quik-Call 1 for siren activation, and 3 stations still use it. Unless if you were talking about the warble alert tones. At the time of this video I had it connected to a speaker, but now it’s connected to an Motorola CDM1250 Mobile operating on GMRS.

Alot of 911 centers still use Motorola Quik-Call II on a VHF/UHF channel along side their 800MHz P25 system. Unfortunately Motorola Quik-Call I has suffered more because decoders aren’t made for the system anymore unfortunately. Luckily my county still has 3 stations that use Quik-Call I for siren activation

It’s also the fact a lot of places are using digital paging now too, and QC1 is completely incompatible with digital radio. Super distorted and off sounding. QC2 and DTMF work fine though
