This was the reason for me to make this video. You just can't find anything that can be so easily understood and followed like in this video. Hope you enjoy part II also.
@@vettef6929 thank you, I just picked up a blue tag trans that came in a pile of parts. Tue 4th gear synchro failed and the bellhousing bolts are missing but otherwise it looks to be in good shape and complete. Your video will be invaluable for reassembling this thing. I got it very cheap but I can tell already I'll have to put a bit of money into it even just for the dmfew issues I have found already.
@@DrewLSsix That was my intension with this video; to help people get this S6-40 disassembled by themselves. Didn't find anything on RU-vid that could help me disassemble the trani, so I made two videos so almost anyone with a few tools can do what I did....
This is just what I was looking for. Have a 4th gear that grinds on my 95 Corvette, but only after warming up. Each step seems doable; what I see as problematic is organization and remembering what came out of where. Looking forward to Part 2.
hello you are amazing teacher and and amazing person. thank you for sharing this. i have built many gear boxes on the bench. i was told don't even try this by some people that i respect vary much, i think they are old school witch is good so am i they were just scared. you have gave the confidence if i have to rebuild mine. im in the process of changing from an auto 700 r to a ZF6 and a D44 on my C4. its lots of work but if for some resion i have to pull it out and fix a gear of synchro its easy stuff now. thank you i would build anything with your gudens, men like youself are fading away fast.
Michael, thank you for your comment, I guess you have also seen part 2 and hope you liked it also. I have a 92 Corvette C4 and have done what you are doing now, replacing the 700r and the D36. Thanks Dan. Like I wrote before, couldn't find any videos here on youtube that showed me how to take one apart and no one wanted to touch my ZF even certified ZF repair shops!! Mostly they told me that they needed special tools, so I made a few myself, wasn't that hard.
hi - working on an older zf m15 and not sure how to remove the int shaft? im sure the pin presses out but found quite alot of tension and didnt want to break the tab off. yes some heat was applied as well.. just really tight? also the input shaft teeth are pretty bad, where can we find a replacement or can we have them recut?
As far as I know there are no repair kits. You can call or write Bill www.zfdoc.com/index.htm. He has plenty of parts and gaskets. Tell him Arnold from Germany told you to give him a call.
@@socalsalas2983 there is no such thing as a plug and play with the ZF trani. You can contact Bill, the best man ever at www.zfdoc.com/index.htm He has parts and way more knowledge than anybody I know...
Thanks for this video. It's very helpful. I'm working on my c4 vette. Can you write the website for zf spare parts? I can't understand listening the video. Sorry....
