highly doubt it. he was jacking in backspin and some serious sidespin on some blocks to zjk. no inverted rubber can turn topspin to underspin in that small range.

The point of this exercise is to practice footwork against randomly placed blocks, and LG can do that like no one else. P.S. Search youtube for videos of Ma Long doing a chop block against topspin. No need for pips at all...
Ma long's chop block? thats not ON TABLE. thats off table. Please read my comment again. In that small range, has to be pips to add hidden backspin and sidespin. and the sp is to help LGL block consistently (not to take away anything from his capability). One of the best Pips players of all times next to Deng YaPing.
