When Oppo exited the market, I searched for a replacement. Instead, found Zidoo for much lower price, so took a chance on it. Pleasantly surprised with its ability to make DVD look great. The icing was playing 4K UHD HDR material on a 1080P projector. Even still, works great with the LG OLED C2, so no complaints at all for this product. Updates and improvements are always in beta, so do not wait for an “official” FW update.
That was one of the reason I got rid of my Zidoo Z10-Pro and purchased a Zappiti Neo. even though the interface may be a little slow because of the cloud server. It does a excellent job with scrapping and movie grouping. Also, the picture wall is excellent. I got new skins for free.
@@thepixalator6758 Yeah unfortunately...unless you want to pay for the subscription from R_volution for their media player. Basically Zippiti under a new name.
I love your new house and how you did a fantastic job on a budget..i have the Zidoo Z2000 pro with SATA internal drive but I can't see the hardware in the Unit. i copied 5 Terabytes from external drive to the SATA drive and I couldn't see it on the Zidoo? Do I have to format in exfat32 instead of NTFS?
I connected to it from my pc using SMB. I only copied one movie to the internal drive to test it. I don’t remember if the zidoo formatted the drive when I installed it. I currently don’t use the internal bay since I have a centralized server with all my movies.
I love it. Works great! I don't even care about scraping and such. I just want an organized set of directories with my files and the ability to play a wide range of formats. It does that great. I absolutely hate the Kodi player and any player on a Windows HTC.
I need the HDMI audio out which this does not have. sigh so probably gonna go with the Z2600 which has all the outputs and inputs I need for a decent price. Really miss my Zappiti One SE 4K HDR...did everything I needed it to do. Sure the interface wasn't the fastest but it played EVERYTHING I THREW AT IT AND IT SCRAPPED POSTER ART AND INFO WITH EASE.
@@Upscaled_HT I have a few movies that need renamed so that zidoo can recognise them (about 5000 unrecognised) plex seems to be able to work out the names and scrapes the data no worries. I did read to keep scanning the library's and the zidoo will pick up more?
I don't care about scraping. Just give me a directory structure for my files and play all formats. The Zidoo does that well. Shield is pretty good but it won't play ISO files and the Shield also uses goofy media player apps that the Zidoo blows away. I do have the Shield and I like it for certain things, but my go to when I'm showing a movie to a group of folks is the Zidoo.
When I run into an issue with TV scraping I navigate sources to the folder containing the TV show and rematch trying the different options, TVDB, TVMAZE and TMDB, I have yet to have a series that one of the three options didn't correctly match. One issue that I have not found a solution for is two part episodes that have been combined into 1 double episode on a disk and then labeled such as S01E01E02, Plex will recognize it but I have to rename it S01E01 for Zidoo and it will skip E02. Once I figured out a few nuances and workarounds I abandoned Plex and only use my Shield for streaming.
@@Upscaled_HT So would you need Zidoo 2000 for each TV? Or can it be used for multiple units? Or is it better to get Zidoo 2000 for my main Theater and get one of the other zidoo for my master bedroom?
I can't get the Zidoo to see the 16 Terabytes SATA drive in the Zidoo When I go to hard drive i only See the 32 gigs hard drive. It's not showing any on the SATA drive and its not showing any on the drive.
Is that just BD menus? I made a few ISO’s from DVD’s…they play fine, but it does not start in the menu, it just starts playing the movie. To get to the menu, you have to intentionally press some buttons. It also shows the “BD” badge for ISOs that are DVD sourced
I just bought the zidoo z9x pro. It's still in shipping but I can't find a guide on how to connect it to my computer. My computer is down stairs and the z9x pro will be upstairs connected to my tv. All my media files are currently in a folder on my pc. Can the zidoo connect to my pc over the network and stream from that folder on my pc? if so, is there a guide on how to configure it?
I literally do that right now. You have to share the folder where you movies are on windows. I’m not aware of a guide on how to do it but I got it working.
Questions I have...I can't get mine to stop asking for passwords....when I never set up passwords. Even worse, I went online trying to fix this and now I can't get my computers to talk to each other even though they were before. Oddly enough, if I go in through different menus on the Zidoo, it sometimes lets me have access to what I was looking to do without passwords. Makes no sense to me. I don't have my data on the C drive on my main computer because it is too small. Having a real hard time getting the Zidoo to access it. Although right now, I'm playing music from that drive onto the Zidoo.
Also getting random junk on my posterwall that won't play. It says it's a movie, I have no clue where it came from, but it won't play. I'm thinking maybe it was movie trailers? I thought those were supposed to stay with the movie they came with and not appear on the posterwall. Need to know how to get rid of these permanently and how to get this to stop happening. Also, which is better, and ISO file or MKV? And why? I have a lot of 3D movies which will be a focus of mine. I do want the extras to be options on the screen.
Is there a way to add our own picture to the posterwall? I have classes that I added and would like those to show up as one item (20+ lectures) and have a "poster" for it instead of them continually being under the unknown folder.
They have new players being released, stock slowly getting out there. Z9X Pro replaced the Z9X, Z20 Pro replaced the Z10 Pro and so on. These players have pro's and con's versus the outgoing versions, not really worth upgrading from say a Z9X to a Z9X Pro.
I just got my z2000. I see there have been no updates since July. Hope they keep up software updates. A number of frustrations for me…it has serious issues with frame rate and resolution changes to the point I gave up and hard set the UI to use 1080p/24 since the majority of my content is blu ray rips. Same with SDR to HDR changes. Some of that could be my specific projector and AVR, but my Apple TV does those things flawlessly on the same setup. HDMI CEC is half broken…If I turn it on and ONLY toggle on the volume control, it still turns my AVR on as long as the zidoo has power Support is non-existent…they didn’t even respond. With all that being said, I have it working to a point I am happy now, but I hope one day Apple TV 4k will just turn on bitstreaming and be done with it and become the one box to rule them all. Apple TV + Plex + Infuse got me 90% there but I wanted bitstream audio like most of us
I'm about to pull the trigger on a UHD5000, I'm starting from scratch with brand new 16tb hdd's to put inside the unit, I figured if I like it then I can add an external nas later. My main concern is that I need to be able to use it for TV shows as well. Do you think it will be ok as I'm starting from scratch?
