Great timing - I had spotted this and was tempted, but Ive already reached my toy spending limit for a while so needed to know if it worked and if it was worth it - will probably order it soon :)
That is a good question. Zigbee is a standard, but how it is implemented in the target system is not. What I mean that the Sonoff Zigbee gateway can probably see the data from the device, but way the data is sent from the knob is not something which is implemented in Sonoff. Sonoff sells a zigbee button, so I have expected at least the button action to be recognized. But most probably the dial/knob sends the data in a different format that the Sonoff system does not recognize. This is why I don't expect anything to work in Sonoff where there is not already a similar Sonoff product. For example a radiator valve, or wind sensor. They probably only support messages for which they already have a device for.
I use the tuya app and it doesn't work there. After pairing with the zigbee gateway, only the led controller was shown to me, which I can control with the rotary button. I can't control anything else, I can't even create scenes.
nice but I still love my tradfri rotary dimmers shame they no longer make them , Ipicked up like 20 of them for $1 when they put them on clearance I should have grabbed them all I had already bought like 8 of them for $10 too bad In didn't know they were going to be discontinued the battery does go pretty quickly but I found a good ebay seller for CR 2032 rechargables
Yes, for any Zigbee device you need a zigbee bridge that is compatible with the system you want to use it. For example a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge for the eWeLink app, or a Tuya compatible Zigbee Bridge.
Press and rotate is not available in software...and rotate is not variable in software, only gives you one brightness choice... For zigbee2mqtt to work it needs a dedicated server, no???
How do you set in Tuya / Smart Life the press and rotate scene? In your video it doesn’t seem to show this option (only switch 1 clicks and knob clockwise / anti-clockwise)
Wait, it doesn’t work with a sonoff Zigbee 3.0 stick? I bought one of these mostly to control the volume on my non-smart audio receiver that I’m controlling with an IR controller.
Does it report the number of turns that a user makes? Reason I'm asking is because I'm looking for a rotary sensor I can attach to the spindle of a roller garage door to count and report to number of rotations (hopefully in degrees) so I can deduce the exact amount the roller door is open/closed.
Hi! I've a zigbee dimmer switch connected to a normal bulb (not smart), This smart knob doesn´t dim the bulb with the dial, but I can turn on and off :(
For Tuya, I use a Blitzwolf IS-1, but I think only IS-10 available now. For Zigbee2mqtt I have a Sonoff Zigbee Dongle 3.0 plugged into the USB port of my server.
